Heres your chance at a great deal on a 2013 Scion FR-S 6spd manual with mods. So heres the whole story. I bought the car on an online auction without seeing it. they stated "runs and drives" upon arrival I found out it ran and drove, in LIMP MODE. Wont go over 4k rpms, speedometer doesnt work, odometer doesnt work, and EVERY light on the dash is on, but the tachometer works. I took it to the SCION dealer to have them scan it to see if we could reset the ECU. It came back with "no signal" they said it could be the signal wire or ecu itself. So heres the BAD part. about a month ago, we lost our only key for it. The dealer can use the key code and make a new one but it has to be programmed to the ecu (which has "no signal") so you can swap the ECU, Ignition, Immobilzier Assembly and key all from the same donor car, or figure out why the ECU is sending no signal and fix it all.
It has NEW Carbon Creations carbon fiber hood, NEW XXR 527 wheels with NEW tires, COC style front lip, Airaid intake, Multicolor LEDs inside and out but lost the remote so hardwired now.
Have all pictures, before, during and current. Also have most, if not all, receipts for parts replaced.
Dont want to sell, but no time right now. Trust in a seller telling EVERYTHING wrong with the car. Dont make the same mistake I made with buying from a salvaged dealer just looking to sell. Title is in hand and lien free.

Consumer Reports says infotainment systems 'growing first-year reliability plague'

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

The Consumer Reports Annual Auto Reliability Survey (right) is out, and the top two spots look much the same as last year's list with Lexus and Toyota in first and second place, respectively. However, there are some major shakeups for 2014, with Acura plunging eight spots from third in 2013 to 11th this year, and Mazda replaces it on the lowest step of the podium. Honda and Audi round out the top five. This year's list includes six Japanese brands in the top 10, two Europeans, one America and one Korean.
Acura isn't the only one taking a tumble, though. Infiniti is the biggest loser this year by dropping 14 spots to 20th place. Other big losses come from Mercedes-Benz with an 11-place fall to 24th, and GMC, which declines 10 positions to 19th.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it's not traditional mechanical bugs hauling down these automaker's reliability scores. Instead, pesky problems with infotainment systems are taking a series toll on the rankings. According to Consumer Reports, complaints about "in-car electronics" were the most grumbled about element in new cars. Problem areas included things like unresponsive touchscreens, issues pairing phones and multi-use controllers that refused to work right.

Lightweight Toyota GT86 spotted on Nordschleife with carbon panels, upgraded aero

Tue, 24 Jun 2014

We've seen (and frankly reported on) so many rumors of more powerful and performance-focused versions of the Subaru BRZ, Toyota GT86 and Scion FR-S at this point that haven't materialized that, at this point, we're almost tired of them. Almost. But what we have here was enough to pique our jaded interests as only a carbon-bodied sports car on the Nürburgring could do.
What we're looking at is, well, we don't quite know, to tell you the truth. What we can tell is that it's a Toyota GT86 (Scion FR-S for us) wearing new wheels and a carbon-fiber hood, roof, racing-spec rear wing and subtle lip spoiler. The vents in the hood indicate that the prototype in question could be packing an upgraded engine to go with the lighter body panels and upgraded aero, and the interior (at least as far as we can see) looks pretty well stripped out.
The right-hand drive configuration tells us this is either destined for former territories of the British Empire or for the racetrack. Considering the ride height, full glass and apparent lack of roll cage, our money's on this prototype is being developed for the Japanese Domestic Market, where Toyota badges the sports car simply as the 86. We can always hope, though, that some version makes it into Scion showrooms in North America... we just won't get our hopes up too high.

Toyota fills in details about its future design direction and global platform

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

"In the future, out of 100 customers, we want to excite ten of them instead of not offending all 100."
Almost all of the details about the Toyota New Group Architecture (TNGA) strategy have come out since the initiative was first reported on in March of this year, but Autoblog did learn a few new things about it on a recent trip to Japan. Probably the second-most important detail is that each new segment platform will be based around a common hip point to create an "optimal driving position architecture."
