Up for sale today is my one owner Scion FR-S Coupe. It has the 2.0L Boxer engine, a manual 5 speed transmission, and all the FR-S options. Bluetooth head unit, Suede seats, etc. I do a LOT of traveling, and put on 30,000 miles in one year traveling along the south and east coast. I always took it to the dealership every 3500 miles for proper maintenance items, coolant flushes, oil changes, etc. It was an excellent car, fun and sporty, great gas mileage. I am a 30 year old business professional, and never abused it. I put on lowering springs for a better appearance, other than that it was stock.

I was driving it around town in Ohio, and someone let their dog loose. It ran right into the middle of the road infront of me, and I slammed on the brakes and swearved to avoid hitting it. I impacted a fire hydrant going about 5-10 miles per hour, and the air bags deployed. It was towed to a lot, and my insurance company totalled it out due to being a 2013. The agent offered to sell me the car back for alittle under half retail, and since I knew the history of the car (and that the engine and transmission were untouched and fine,) I quickly bought it back with plans to put on Extreme Dimensions body panels and make it custom and unique.

I took it to my mechanic and body shop, they inspected the engine and transmission as you can see in the engine running videos and pictures below. Mechanically, the car is fine and will run and drive with no issues. The drivers front frame rail has a slight bend to it. I got the opinions of two certified body shops which estimated the repair at $900 for the frame rail, or $2500 for the complete repair, including panels and paint. The car is good from the doors back, and the only part of the frame that is damaged is the front half from the middle of the tire forward. I am on the road too much to finish this project, so I am offering it for sale.

Don't buy a salvage car from a reseller that won't provide an engine video and has no clue on the history of the car. Here is your chance to have a $25,000 car for much less than half that.

You will need the following items to finish the car:
Fenders
Hood
Bumper
Headlights
Air Intake
Radiator
Condensor
Washer Reservoir
Cooling Fan
Drivers side Front Lower Control Arm
Air Bag

If you have any questions, feel free to call, text, or email me 614-522-9626. I work for a transportation company, and get great rates on towing vehicles across the United States as well.

Here is a video of this FR-S running, and sounding great, like off the show room floor:

J.D. Power study sees new car dependability problems increase for first time since 1998

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

For the first time since 1998, J.D. Power and Associates says its data shows that the average number of problems per 100 cars has increased. The finding is the result of the firm's much-touted annual Vehicle Dependability Study, which charts incidents of problems in new vehicle purchases over three years from 41,000 respondents.
Looking at first-owner cars from the 2011 model year, the study found an average of 133 problems per 100 cars (PP100, for short), up 6 percent from 126 PP100 in last year's study, which covered 2010 model-year vehicles. Disturbingly, the bulk of the increase is being attributed to engine and transmission problems, with a 6 PP100 boost.
Interestingly, JDP notes that "the decline in quality is particularly acute for vehicles with four-cylinder engines, where problem levels increase by nearly 10 PP100." Its findings also noticed that large diesel engines also tended to be more problematic than most five- and six-cylinder engines.

2016 Scion iM is the return of the Corolla Wagon

Wed, Apr 1 2015

If you were expecting the Scion iM Concept to magically leap into production unchanged, well, you're a lot more optimistic than most. Predictably, Scion has toned down the production iM, revealing a vehicle at the 2015 New York Auto Show that's is only slightly spicier than the Toyota Auris on which it's based. Gone are the swollen wheel arches and center-exit exhaust of the concept, but the production version is still a handsome five-door hatchback. Compared the Euro-market Auris, first seen in 2012, the iM gets a more aggressive front end treatment. The angular grille and larger lower intakes and grilles are home to hexagonal inserts and gloss-black accents. Fitting with Scion's single-spec single-price sales model, 17-inch wheels come standard. The alloys are are wrapped in low-profile tires, which Scion describes as "fat." Flared side skirts run into the rear bumper, which sits well below a prominent set of taillights and a smallish rear window. The iM's sole engine is a 1.8-liter gas-powered four-cylinder. If that sounds familiar, it's because it's the same 2ZR-FAE engine found in the Corolla Eco model, and features continuously-variable valve timing and lift. With 137 horsepower, the iM cedes 3 ponies to its Toyota sibling, although we don't know if the torque figures are the same. Fuel economy, estimated at 37 mpg highway, is actually 2 mpg better than the Corolla Eco. Again, like the Corolla, the iM can be had with a continuously variable transmission. But fans of fun can enjoy a good ole' six-speed manual, something not available in the Corolla's hotter engine. As for the CVT, Scion claims it's been "sport-tuned for driving." The so-called CVTi-S features both a Sport mode – more aggressive transmission behavior and a more sporting steering sensation – and a manual setting with seven stepped shift points. The 2016 iM is expected to start at around $20,000, making it a potential challenger for the likes of the Ford Focus, Mazda3, Subaru Impreza and Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen. Deliveries should start this fall. Check back tomorrow for more details, as well as a full set of live photos. Until then, scroll down for the official press release.

Scion announces FR-S Release Series 1.0 in New York

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

In the market for a Scion FR-S (or Subaru BRZ), but don't want the same one your neighbor's got? Scion has good news for you. At the New York Auto Show today, the Japanese automaker has announced the availability of this FR-S Release Series 1.0.
As the first Release Series FR-S (the aging xB is debuting its tenth alongside it), this special edition has been spruced up by Toyota Racing Development with a series of visual and aerodynamic enhancements to give the FR-S a bit of extra edge. Included in the Release Series 1.0 is an upgraded aero kit, an exhaust tip for every cylinder in the engine (that makes four, folks), and a lowered suspension with TRD springs and HID headlamps. Did we mention it's all capped by Yuzu yellow paint?
Inside, you'll find black seats with T-pattern upholstery, a TRD steering wheel, shifter and cargo mat, dual-zone climate control and push-button ignition with smart key. Scion isn't saying exactly what this model will cost, but it is saying it will come in under $30,000 (before the $755 delivery charge).
