I've owned this car for 7 years and done many repairs and upgrades. Repairs: new clutch in 2010, less than 2000 miles on the new clutch, brand new leather seats in the front, brand new carpet, less than a year old, the car had the turbo rebuilt and it works perfectly, cold AC, all power seats, great stereo, all lights, electronic signals works, runs and drives excellent, starts right up, doesn't smoke, motor and transmission is excellent, body is nice and straihgt, a tad of rust on a rear trunk lid underneath the saab emblem, the paint is nice and shiny, original Saab factory paint, here's what the car will need: the radiator has a leak, you can only drive the car 30/40 miles and then the water leaks out under preassure, car never overheats even when the water leaks out, the top stoped working, I bypassed the saab factory switch that operates the top and install 3 separate toggle swithes that i used for the last year one swith released the front down lock down, and operated the actual top, the other switch raised and lowered the back window, and the third switch opened and locked the hatch, this was professionally done and worked for 2 years up untill last month i knocked a couple wires loose and had a mechanic get the top up for me and lock it down and it's been that way ever since. this is a great runnng Saab with over $5000 in repairs in the last 5 years. And i forgot to mention the car has aftermarket high performance excaust system

Vampire Weekend burns for Saab

Or is it the other way around?
Could Vampire Weekend be trying to tell me something? A just-launched music video for the indie rock band's new single Diane Young features what looks like a pretty mint black Saab 900 Turbo Convertible being torched in slow-motion. In fact, with the exception of a brief, flickering cameo by a 900 three-door of a similar vintage, that's all that there is to the nearly three-minute long video. It's both sad and oddly beautiful.
Coincidentally, I have a similar-looking turbocharged black Saab convertible sitting in my garage, and I've been reluctantly pondering its sale this very week. Admittedly, mine is a later model (2001 9-3 Viggen), but tri-spokes and more tapered rump aside, it looks eerily identical. And while mine isn't mired in flames (I love it too much to torch it), through no fault of its own, it's been sitting motionless far too regularly. Thankfully, I see a better future for it than the droptop seen above.

NEVS announces 200 layoffs as it says Saab restart will 'take time'

For a fleeting moment a few weeks ago, the news from Saab-owner National Electric Vehicle Sweden appeared almost positive. The company had its reorganization plan approved (a day after it was denied), and the automaker was actually showing a real, running vehicle, albeit one with a top speed of 75 miles per hour. But those tiny crumbs of potential goodness have been swept away because NEVS has announced layoffs of as many as 200 factory employees in September "due to lack of work."
Workers probably shouldn't get too eager to return to the factory either, because company's "decision to re-start production will be further delayed" by an unspecified amount of time, NEVS says in a press release. To begin assembling cars again, the company needs to find long-term funding and a new majority owner. Those seem like two very steep hurdles for the embattled automaker to clear.
Despite not producing cars since May, NEVS still claims it's negotiating with a new owner, possibly Mahindra, but according to Reuters, the Swedish company owes about 400 million kronor ($56 million) to creditors. According to its layoff announcement, getting rid of these workers is one step in the business' reorganization plan to be presented on October 8. Scroll down to read its full release.

Victor Muller to pay Sweden back taxes for Saab work

Victor Muller, Saab's CEO from 2010 to 2011, has been ordered by the Swedish court to pay the back taxes he owes the country for his work at Saab, Autoweek and Volkskrant report. When he was the automaker's CEO he received a salary of about 8 million Swedish Krona ($1.25 million), which was recorded as a reward for consultancy work for a company in the US that Muller owns. The move allowed him to evade taxes for awhile, but the court has ordered him to pay taxes on his full salary.
Muller, who is also CEO of Spyker, and two other Saab executives were accused of accounting fraud in May, which took place in 2010 and 2011. According to reports, Muller maintains that he is not subject to taxes in Sweden.
