What a great opportunity!   You'll love the looks of this Saab 9-5 2.3t Sport sedan!

Saab really does make a beautiful car!  The lower spoiler has been brushed up on some curbs as you can see but that's easily repairable if you wish.

That Polar White paint looks great!  You'll be pleased you chose this color!

It just looks incredible in the Polar White on Parchment color combination!  This car provides a very good balance of everything you want!  Great looks, great power, and plenty of room!

The car still looks nice and presentable!

A couple door dings here and there but all in all the car still has plenty of miles left in it!

You'll really love the bold, well defined lines this car offers!  Just look at the sleek lines this car offers!  It does have a few scrapes on the rear bumper as you can see.

This side also looks good!

You won't realize how quick this car is until you get behind the wheel and experience it for yourself!

You'll love this car's distinctively Saab looks!

The paint is still nice and presentable.  The clear coat has failed a bit on the trunk but it's hard to notice unless you are right up against it.

Even in a close up picture it's hard to spot because of the white color.

The roof still looks great!

The sunroof works nicely.  Some of the glue to the weatherstrip has bubbled up a bit but it doesn't affect the functionality of the sunroof at all.

The hood also looks great.  A couple dings up here but the beauty of having a white car is that the imperfections are much harder to see!

A closeup of the small scrape/gouge on the passenger's side below the door.

The passenger front bumper has some scrapes on it as you can see in this closeup.

The tires still have plenty of tread remaining.  The Saab wheels still look great!

The trunk has all the room you'll need.  If you need more room, the rear seats do flip down for even more storage room!

You'll really appreciate how clean the trunk is!

You'll really be impressed by how nice everything is back here!

You'll be impressed with all the room this trunk has to offer!   The car is missing its spare tire.

The door panels still look nice and presentable.

The interior still looks good!

You have full power adjustments for the driver's seat.  The adjustments still work even though the plastic panel holding the switch no longer attaches and is missing part of the switch.

The passenger's door panel also looks fantastic!

This is the real deal!  You'll fall in love with this color combination!

The passenger seat looks great!

The passenger seat controls work great.  It is missing the cap to the switch though.

Even the rear doors looks great!

Some red stain on the carpet on this side.

You'll have plenty of room for five adults in this car!

When you have four passengers, you have the option of using the center armrest to give you even greater comfort!

You have a pop out cup holder!

You also have a small storage area inside here!

Rear seat passengers have their own vents!

All the controls are right at the driver's fingertips!  You'll really love what a driver's car this really is!  You feel in touch with the road yet in complete comfort.  It's really an amazing blend of power, sportiness, and comfort that this car offers that makes it unique to any other car out there!

The passenger will be in complete luxury in this car!

Take a look at this beautiful interior layout!  This Saab really means business when it comes to total luxury!

Take a look at those radio controls.  You even get the In-Dash CD.  The stereo really provides incredible, well balanced, deep sound!  The a/c displays look good!

You even get the pop out cup holder right in the center!

You have the heated seat controls.  I can't guarantee they are fully operational as it's been too warm to give these seat heaters a proper test.

The transmission shifts great.  The trim around it is showing some wear as you can see.  The power lock switch down here did not appear to be working.  The only time you could use the power locks is with the key from the outside or when you turn the car off and take the key out.  Any other time you'd have to operate the locks manually.  It may be a very easy fix but we haven't looked into it.

Down here is where you put the key!  You also have full power windows!  Just what you'd expect from a luxury sedan such as this!

You have a small storage area in the center console!

The sliding glass moon roof works perfectly!  All the car's lights work, even the vanity mirrors!

The headliner is spotless!  Just look at how nice it is!

Here's what the instrument cluster will look like while you're driving the car!  The mileage is original.

Here's what you'll be talking about for months to come!  Here's the incredible engine to this car!  Take a look at how nice it is!

Here's the car's beautiful turbocharged 2.3 liter Inline-4 engine!  Take a look at this beauty!  This is one of the most, if not the most dependable engine that Saab has ever put in a car!

You'll really be pleased you chose to go with this engine!

You'll be blown away with how nice and clean everything is under here!  This car really was well kept!

The 2.3 Liter Saab turbocharged inline 4 is just beautiful!

With the proven reliability of Saab you know that this car will last for many more years and many hundreds of thousands of miles with a careful owner!  This car's mileage is just the tip of the iceberg!

Celebrate Volvo's 89th birthday with some neat facts

Thu, Apr 14 2016

Volvo, arguably Sweden's best-known non-ABBA export, will celebrate the big 9-0 next year. The company has always operated somewhat under the radar, but it has its share of stories to tell despite an image formed by decades of solid, safe, and sensible cars. To celebrate the occasion, here are five lesser-known facts about Sweden's last remaining car brand. 1. It opened North America's first foreign car plant. Idyllic Halifax was a small fishing city of about a quarter-million in the early 1960s when Volvo arrived and became the first import brand to build cars en masse in North America. American consumers on the East Coast developed a fondness for the Volvo Amazon line in the late 1950s, leading Volvo to seek out a plant in the Americas. Halifax ponied up incentives, allowing Volvo to take advantage of a pact eliminating tariffs on cars built and exported between the United States and Canada. Volvo built cars there until the end of 1998, when it said its facility was no longer viable compared to larger factories in Europe. That brings us to The Netherlands, where Volvo bought a quirky, innovative automaker that once sold a car called the Daffodil (which was actually its luxury model). 2. You can thank Volvo for CVTs – even though it doesn't use them. Volvo wasn't interested in picking flowers. It wanted the automotive arm of truck manufacturer DAF, which would include its assembly plant, its Renault engines, and the first mainstream application of the CVT gearbox. Volvo acquired DAF's car business over the course of a few years in the early 1970s and, in typical Volvo safety-oriented style, it slapped big bumpers and head restraints on the little DAF 66 and rebadged it as the Volvo 66. The Dutch assembly plant would grow to include a partnership with Mitsubishi in the early '90s. Today, it operates as NedCar and builds Mini Coopers for BMW. Volvo is no longer involved in NedCar or DAF (which sold its CVT division to Bosch, by the way), but its acquisition of DAF helped ensure the success of CVTs. Ironically, even though Volvo's investment helped make CVTs mainstream, the Swedish automaker's affair with them was brief, and today it utilizes only conventional automatics. 3. The Swedish carmakers were pals. Over its 89 years, Volvo has been closely connected to a number of automakers – most notably Ford, which ran the company for a decade, and its current owner Geely. But Volvo is most closely linked to its longtime competitor, Saab.

Why won't automakers slap on a turbo badge anymore?

Thu, Sep 10 2015

Where have all the turbos gone? Not the actual pieces that go in the engine, mind you, those are everywhere these days as automakers downsize cylinder counts and boost efficiency and CO2 claims. But the turbo badges and fanfare are missing. Back when turbos were something to get excited about there was "turbo-driven," "turbonium," and "The Turbo Zone," among other silly lines. But now that basically every car is getting some sort of boost even on the lowliest trims, automakers are almost sliding in the turbos under the radar. Or if you look at some of the nomenclature, pretending they don't exist at all. The 911 Turbo badge shows where the car goes from being sane to lunatic. It's an important border. The latest automaker to hide that it has boosted the turbo presence is Porsche with the 2017 911 lineup. Even the standard Carrera models now get turbocharged flat-six engines, meaning the 911 Turbo models aren't quite as special as they once were. Porsche is in a sticky situation with this. The 911 Turbo, after all, signifies where the 911 family takes off from being a sports car and becomes the Ferrari fighter. The 911 Turbo badge shows where the car goes from being sane to lunatic. It's an important border, but now Porsche has crossed it and is trying to downplay the fact. There are a lot of exaggerations with displacement badges today, with claims the 2.0-liter turbo four in a Mercedes C Class equates to a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter six to make a C300. Volvo is pretty far up there, too, saying an XC90 T8 means V8 power, even though it's a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged four with electric assist. I don't know why BMW can't just call the car a 330i Turbo, rather than inflating the numbers up to 340i. Saab tried all of this back in the '90s when it decided to turbocharge its entire lineup, from light pressure units all the way up to models actually called "Saab 9-3 HOT" (for high-output turbo). But then the brand deleted any external reference to the turbo under the hood and people wondered why they were buying a $42,000 four-cylinder convertible. And that didn't turn out well. Even though these turbo replacements often make more power than their naturally aspirated predecessors, they're very different engines. People knew something changed when they exchanged their leased 328i with a 3.0-liter six for a 328i with a 2.0-liter turbo four.

Boeing, Saab introduce entry for T-X trainer program

Thu, Sep 15 2016

This post is appearing on Autoblog Military, Autoblog's sub-site dedicated to the vehicles, aircraft, and ships of the world's armed forces. Boeing and Saab revealed their entry for the US military's T-X trainer replacement program. The new jet, simply called T-X, is like the lovechild of a F/A-18 Hornet and an F-16 Falcon, and as Boeing tells it, will provide "performance, affordability, and maintainability advantages" over the competition. "Our T-X is real, ready and the right choice for training pilots for generations to come," Leanne Caret, Boeing Defense, Space, and Security's President and CEO said in an official statement. And Caret isn't not kidding about the Boeing T-X being both real and ready – Boeing is so confident that it built two examples before the official unveiling on Tuesday. The first jet, which Defense News reports will fly by the end of the year, debuted to media with the kind of pomp usually reserved for automotive debuts. Boeing/Saab will use the second jet – also featured on Tuesday – for structural proof testing. The needs of a training aircraft are quite different than those of a traditional fighter. The T-X features stadium-style seating, so the instructor riding in back has nearly as good a view as the student in front. Student evaluations should be easy, too, as the open software transmits data effortlessly between ground training systems and the jet itself. Functionally, Boeing claims the twin-tail layout provides more agility than a single-tail design – remember, the military's newest jets, the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II both use twin-tail layouts – while the Air Force can mount two weapon hard points on the jet's wings. According to Defense News, four manufacturers – Boeing/Saab, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin/KAI, and Raytheon/Leonardo/CAE – are vying for the contract to build 350 new trainers to replace the Air Force's fleet of aging T-38 Talons.
