BEAUTIFUL SCARABE GREEN 9-5 SE 6 CYLINDER WAGON
I AM A SAAB USA CLUB MEMBER AND SELLING ONE OF MY FAVORITE SAAB WAGONS. IT'S A 2000 9-5 SE 3.0 WAGON WHICH HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED AND ALWAYS SERVICED AT MY LOCAL SAAB DEALER/SERVICE CENTER. ORIGINALLY PURCHASED AT MY LOCAL SAAB DEALER AND COMES WITH ALL ORIGINAL AND UP TO DATE SERVICE RECORDS, INCLUDING SERVICE RECORDS FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER(SERVICED AT SAME DEALERSHIP). THIS 9-5 NEEDS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING MECHANICALLY, MOST RECENTLY HAS HAD ALL A/C COMPONENTS REPLACED, INCLUDING THE COMPRESSOR. EVERY OPTION WORKS, ALL MECHANICS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, NO LEAKS OR DRIPS. IN MY OPINION, KNOWING AND DRIVING SAABS FOR 30 YEARS PLUS THIS IS A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE AN INCREDIBLY MAINTAINED SAAB 9-5, IN A VERY RARE COLOR COMBINATION OF SCARABE GREEN AND TAN LEATHER INTERIOR.
I HAVE OWNED AND ONLY DRIVEN SAABS SINCE THE LATE 1980'S, THIS 9-5 IS ONE OF 4 THAT I CURRENTLY OWN AND THE ONLY REASON THIS FAVORITE HAS TO GO IS BECAUSE I PURCHASED BOTH A 9-5 AERO SEDAN AND A LINEAR WAGON RECENTLY AND NEED THE GARAGE SPACE SINCE EVERY CAR I OWN IS ALWAYS GARAGED. MECHANICALLY, DEALER SERVICE HAS INCLUDED REPLACEMENT OF THE WATER PUMP, RADIATOR, ALL A/C COMPONENTS (THIS SUMMER), HEATER VALVE, CABIN FILTER, REAR HATCH SHOCKS, WINDOW ROLLERS, BATTERY, BRAKES, TRANSMISSION COOLER, THERMOSTAT, HEAD GASKET, ALL HOSES, FAN BELTS, REAR HATCH ELECTRIC LOCK MECHANISM. FRONT SWAY BAR LINKS, WASHER NOZZLES, FRONT FOG LAMP BULBS AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. OIL HAS ALWAYS BEEN MOBIL ONE (DEALER SERVCED) EVERY 4-5,000 MILES. AS WITH ALL OF MY SAABS, WHATEVER IS NEEDED GETS DONE AT THE SAAB SERVICE CENTER. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO DRIVE THIS SAAB CROSS COUNTRY, IT IS A SAFE, RELIABLE AND A VERY COMFORTABLE CAR. PERFORMS PERFECTLY, SMOOTHLY, AND RUNS ABSOLUTELY STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD. MY SAAB DEALER SERVICE TECH RECENTLY TOLD ME IT'S GOOD FOR AN EASY 200K PLUS. IF YOU KNOW AND APPRECIATE SAABS, AS I DO, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
THIS 9-5 HAS BEEN ONE OF MY FAVORITES SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE EXCELLENT AND SPORTY HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS, SAFETY RECORD AND SUPERB FUEL MILEAGE. NORMALLY GETS AROUND 21.9 MPG IN TOWN AND AROUND 29 MPG ON HIGHWAY TRIPS. THIS SUMMER I GOT 34.6 MPG ON A ROUND TRIP BETWEEN NJ AND NH (650 MILES).
THE EXTERIOR IS IN VERY NICE CONDITION. PAINT IS EXCELLENT DOES HAVE A FEW VERY MINOR PAINT CHIPS AND ONE SMALL PARKING LOT DING (TRIED TO SHOW IN PHOTO). SAAB TOUCH-UP PAINT INCLUDED IN SALE. SAAB IS DETAILED YEARLY AND WAS JUST DONE IN AUGUST. INTERIOR LEATHER IS EXCELLENT, NO TEARS OR RIPS AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN LEATHER CONDITIONED. CARPETS ARE VERY GOOD AND THERE IS A COMPLETE SET OF SAAB ALL WEATHER FITTED RUBBER MATS. REAR CARGO HATCH CARPET IS ALSO EXCELLENT.
PIRELLI P-6 TIRES ARE EXCELLENT FRONT 80% AND REAR GOOD 70%, REAR WINDOWS HAVE A LIGHT TINT WHICH GIVES THE SAAB A SPORTY LOOK ESPECIALLY WITH THE RARE SCARABE GREEN COLOR. THIS SAAB HAS MOST, IF NOT ALL OPTIONS WHICH WERE AVAILABLE IN 2000, INCLUDING, AM/FM WEATHER BAND/TAPE AND CD, SUNROOF, CRUISE, PS, PDB, PW, POWER SEAT FRONT PASSENGER/DRIVER WITH LUMBAR SUPPORT, SELF DIMMING REARVIEW MIRROR, POWER HEATED EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRRORS, LEATHER INTERIOR, DISK BRAKES, AUTOMATIC, WET/WINTER DRIVING MODE, SPORT TRANSMISSION MODE, CONSOLE WITH ARM REST AND CUP HOLDER, REAR AIR/HEAT, REAR AND REAR SIDE WINDOW ELECTRIC DEFROSTER, SEAT HEATERS, FOLDING REAR SEATS, CARGO HATCH COVER. I'M SURE I'M MISSING OTHER OPTIONS. SAAB COMES WITH THE BOOKS AND MANUALS, SPARE TIRE AND TOOLS, TWO KEYS AND REMOTE FOBS AND THE ORIGINAL SET OF 2000 9-5 WHEELS. THE WHEELS ON THE SAAB ARE FROM A 1999 SAAB 9-5, WHICH HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A FAVORITE OF MINE.
THERE WAS A FRONT LEFT QUARTER PANEL REPAIR BEHIND FRONT LEFT WHEEL AS A RESULT OF A PARKING LOT ACCIDENT WHEN OWNED BY PREVIOUS OWNER.
SAAB IS AVAILABLE FOR PERSONAL INSPECTION, BY APPOINTMENT AND PRIOR TO BIDDING. SHIPPING/TRANSPORTATION IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PURCHASER. I WILL CERTAINLY MAKE IT CONVENIENT, REGARDING TIME AND EASY ACCESS FOR YOUR TRANSPORTER TO PICK-UP. THE SAAB IS LOCATED IN UNION, NJ 07083.
PLEASE NOTE THIS SAAB IS 13 YEARS OLD AND WILL SHOW NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES OR WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. YOU, AS PURCHASER, ARE BUYING THIS SAAB IN "AS IS CONDITION".
PURCHASER/BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE TO PAY A $500.00 DEPOSIT THROUGH PAYPAL WITHIN 24 HOURS OF END OF AUCTION. BALANCE OF PURCHASE PRICE IS DUE WITHIN 7 DAYS OF END OF AUCTION AND MAY BE PAID IN CASH IF PICKED UP IN PERSON OR CERTIFIED BANK CHECK OR WIRE TRANSACTION PRIOR TO PICK-UP. Boeing, Saab introduce entry for T-X trainer program
Thu, Sep 15 2016This post is appearing on Autoblog Military, Autoblog's sub-site dedicated to the vehicles, aircraft, and ships of the world's armed forces. Boeing and Saab revealed their entry for the US military's T-X trainer replacement program. The new jet, simply called T-X, is like the lovechild of a F/A-18 Hornet and an F-16 Falcon, and as Boeing tells it, will provide "performance, affordability, and maintainability advantages" over the competition. "Our T-X is real, ready and the right choice for training pilots for generations to come," Leanne Caret, Boeing Defense, Space, and Security's President and CEO said in an official statement. And Caret isn't not kidding about the Boeing T-X being both real and ready – Boeing is so confident that it built two examples before the official unveiling on Tuesday. The first jet, which Defense News reports will fly by the end of the year, debuted to media with the kind of pomp usually reserved for automotive debuts. Boeing/Saab will use the second jet – also featured on Tuesday – for structural proof testing. The needs of a training aircraft are quite different than those of a traditional fighter. The T-X features stadium-style seating, so the instructor riding in back has nearly as good a view as the student in front. Student evaluations should be easy, too, as the open software transmits data effortlessly between ground training systems and the jet itself. Functionally, Boeing claims the twin-tail layout provides more agility than a single-tail design – remember, the military's newest jets, the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II both use twin-tail layouts – while the Air Force can mount two weapon hard points on the jet's wings. According to Defense News, four manufacturers – Boeing/Saab, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin/KAI, and Raytheon/Leonardo/CAE – are vying for the contract to build 350 new trainers to replace the Air Force's fleet of aging T-38 Talons. Saab restarts production line in Trollh"attan
Thu, 19 Sep 2013The new owner of Saab, National Electric Vehicle Sweden, has bolted together its first two new cars at the company's traditional home in Trollhättan. The two 9-3 sedans were built to work bugs out of the production line and test newer components before full-scale production starts near the end of the year.
NEVS acting President, Mattias Bergman, issued a statement saying, "Prior to our decision to start production of Saab cars, we need to finalize a few remaining dialogues to build partnerships with suppliers. We now know that the plant is ready for production." First up for NEVS will be gas-powered, turbocharged 9-3s, before bringing a facelifted, electrified variant later next year. There are also plans to rejigger Saab's never-was Phoenix architecture for production, although NEVS needs to excise the remaining General Motors tech from the platform before building anything.
According to a report on Automotive News Europe, once under way, NEVS has set an optimistic target of 120,000 units per year by 2016, with sales focused in Europe and China - there's no official word on if NEVS ever plans to bring the Saab name back to North America.
Are orphan cars better deals?
Wed, Dec 30 2015Most folks don't know a Saturn Aura from an Oldsmobile Aurora. Those of you who are immersed in the labyrinth of automobilia know that both cars were testaments to the mediocrity that was pre-bankruptcy General Motors, and that both brands are now long gone. But everybody else? Not so much. By the same token, there are some excellent cars and trucks that don't raise an eyebrow simply because they were sold under brands that are no longer being marketed. Orphan brands no longer get any marketing love, and because of that they can be alarmingly cheap. Case in point, take a look at how a 2010 Saturn Outlook compares with its siblings, the GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave. According to the Manheim Market Report, the Saturn will sell at a wholesale auto auction for around $3,500 less than the comparably equipped Buick or GMC. Part of the reason for this price gap is that most large independent dealerships, such as Carmax, make it a point to avoid buying cars with orphaned badges. Right now if you go to Carmax's site, you'll find that there are more models from Toyota's Scion sub-brand than Mercury, Saab, Pontiac, Hummer, and Saturn combined. This despite the fact that these brands collectively sold in the millions over the last ten years while Scion has rarely been able to realize a six-figure annual sales figure for most of its history. That is the brutal truth of today's car market. When the chips are down, used-car shoppers are nearly as conservative as their new-car-buying counterparts. Unfamiliarity breeds contempt. Contempt leads to fear. Fear leads to anger, and pretty soon you wind up with an older, beat-up Mazda MX-5 in your driveway instead of looking up a newer Pontiac Solstice or Saturn Sky. There are tons of other reasons why orphan cars have trouble selling in today's market. Worries about the cost of repair and the availability of parts hang over the industry's lost toys like a cloud of dust over Pigpen. Yet any common diagnostic repair database, such as Alldata, will have a complete framework for your car's repair and maintenance, and everyone from junkyards to auto parts stores to eBay and Amazon stock tens of thousands of parts. This makes some orphan cars mindblowingly awesome deals if you're willing to shop in the bargain bins of the used-car market. Consider a Suzuki Kizashi with a manual transmission. No, really.
