What a super fun, easy to drive, reliable car!! Not to mention, unusual to see on the road, especially for a Saab. No sob story here!! (see what I did there??). I KNOW it's easy to drive because my minimally experienced 15 year old son(learned manual on a newer Cobalt SS) hopped right in with no seat time and drove it like a pro!

The exterior is beautiful. While taking these pictures, I couldn't find any noticable dings except for a few on the hood (along with the typical rockchips), no dents and no major body issues. The front bumper cover looks good save for the typical lower parking lot block rash. Driving light lenses are long gone. The rear bumper cover looks good except for a tiny puncture hole nearly dead center of the cover.

Below you can see the tires have nice tread life left. Easily 65+%. But unfortunately the rims are the ONLY major complaint I have about the entire car. You can clearly see the black splatter and deep cuts/rash on the face. These are the 18" Mille Miglia 1000 rims. Super light, but also super prone to damage. When I acquired the car, it had a light seat of the pants vibration at highway speeds. I drove the car to Springfield IL and back and for some weeks as my daily driver logging over 800 miles on this car with NO ISSUES otherwise. In my persuit of perfection, I had the wheels high speed balanced. ALL of the rims had some sort if inside lip bend or out-of-round shape. Balancing didn't correct the vibration altho it reduced it. In my opinion, the rims are smoked. Usable but will need replacement in the future for a perfect ride and drive.

Hood and roof look great with the exception of the minor typical dings and rockchips on the hood. Sunroof operates perfectly.

Below if you look hard enough, you can see the SOLE surface rust area on the entire car, around the left rear wheel lip. I scuffed it down to bare metal and touched it up with the best matching touchup paint I could find. Night and day from before. Otherwise the exterior is an easy 8 out of 10!

The interior is an EASY 9+ out of 10! Leather looks amazing. Driver's bolster has minimal wear(as-in hardly any) along with a typically worn leather covered shift knob. Steering wheel looks new. No rips, cuts, tears, or damages to the leather seating. Dash looks great. Doorpanels and carpet are great. No complaints. I hate smoke and I can't see or smell any signs of a former smoker.

ALL of the dummy lights illuminate upon startup with only the "Check Engine" light popping on along with the Info Displ at random. I ran the codes for the engine light. It comes up with a faulty boost control solenoid. This makes sense as the car pulls very hard(overboost) and after resetting the light, it didn't come back on for days until I stepped on the fun pedal on the right and got it to pop back on. As you are aware, the "info panel" on these cars suck. This one no different. Most of the pixels are out leaving you with a working radio but no way to see what channel it's on. Since I can't read the panel, I'm not sure what other minimal information it's showing. As stated, I've driven the car for well OVER 800 miles without any issues. The ONLY other minute thing wrong with the interior...the cup holder is broken, but I have the unit. NO RESERVE, REMEMBER?!?

As far as I can tell otherwise, all the power items work as they should: OnStar connect, power roof, doorlocks, windows, HEATED power seats, ICE COLD AIR CONDITIONING, Hot Heat, digital climate control works perfectly with full working display, inside/outside lighting (except driving lights), radio, ABS/Traction control, etc. Dont forget the Viggen only leather designs!!

Complete spare tire setup is intact and aired up ready for your roadtrip! Sorry, no floormats. Car seems to be prewired for a sub-box and amplifier.

Below you can see the entire factory manuals are included along with one functioning keyfob/key. Alarm/locks work as it should as well.

The heart of your new toy! 100% bone stock and unmolested. Super clean. One owner and it shows! Engine fires right up and runs smoothly. No smoking. Turbo is flawless and strong. No head gasket issues means no overheating. 800+ miles with the Air Conditioning on in 90 degree weather says so. No signs of any major oil or coolant leaks. Oil and coolant are clean. Transmission shifts smoothly with no grinding or issues. Clutch feels nice and tight with no slipping or uneven feel. Hit the gas, spool up the turbo and the car is ridiculous for a 4 cylinder. If it were in my stable of projects, I would immediately open up the restrictive exhaust and fabricate an intake turning this beauty into a beast! Brakes are strong and feel justlikenew2u!! Throw you thru the windshield if needed. The car is completely drivable and reliable as it sits. Suspension is tight and firm with no noises, squeaks or popping. Recent strong upgraded Napa Auto battery. Turn key and go. This is a rare find and at NO RESERVE....impossible to pass up. INSPECT my excellent feedbacks. BID, BUY, and DRIVE ANYWHERE with 100% CONFIDENCE!! Title in hand. GOOD LUCK!!

I apologize in advance if I sound like I'm scolding....but this NEEDS to be said. This vehicle is AS-IS/AS-SHOWN. The vehicle is in Illinois being sold by a dealer. There are many great affordable aftermarket warranty companies out there that will warranty nearly anything. Use them. WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE for your individual state's INSPECTION or EMISSIONS compliance. I am simply trying to offer you and possibly your family a quality reliable vehicle. Like most Americans, I still can't afford a new car. I regularly sell $3000-$6000 vehicles. Mostly what I would personally drive or own. I don't know if you are buying in my state or in Virginia or California...so I HAVE to make our cars ready for the road trip. I don't know who will be driving the car. So I MUST make it ready for your teen or your job in the morning. I can only promise I do the BEST that I can with what I have and what I sell. My EXCELLENT FEEDBACKS prove it. I'm not here to rip people off. I'm also here to help so feel free to contact me after purchase for anything. Even if you have any questions about a future purchase. Also, understand that I spend many countless hours (inspecting, repairing, cleaning, taking pics and writing specific personal ads) for everything I sell...not to mention the $125 sell fee that is charged to me at the end. Please don't jack around if you don't plan to go thru with the purchase. Thanks for your understanding.

Now you're at the bottom. Hopefully I've covered the main specifics of the vehicle and eased your mind with the thought of buying off the internet. I understand that you are putting yourself or your loved ones in this vehicle. If I haven't covered any of your questions or concerns, please feel free to email or call me at 815.744.7223. My name is Eric. Nearly ALL my car auctions are NO RESERVE. Absolute sales every time. There is no benefit for me to end auctions early. I do NOT "show" my cars while they are listed and only the winner of the auction gains access to vehicle. I simply don't have time for people's schedules, giving directions, waiting around, tire kicking and lowball offers. BID TO BUY, if you don't, another surely will!

Venue of sale is Will County, Illinois. ALL BUYERS are responsible for $99 DOC fee. ALL ILLINOIS BUYERS responsible for 7% sales tax, $101 License Plate fee (or $25 current valid plate transfer fee), $95 Title fee. ALL COOK COUNTY (Chicago area) BUYERS responsible for 8.25% sales tax. There are 8 other states that I (unfortunately) have to collect tax (AZ,CA,FL,HI,IN,MA,MI,SC)....but it's usually at a discount vs. regular in state. Vehicle is sold AS-IS/AS-SHOWN with no warranty expressed or implied. Please follow deposit and payment instructions posted. I have a $500 deposit within 24 hours posted because if you are bidding, you should be in the position to pay. Variations can be made on a case by case basis but Cash in person is preferred payment. After full payment is made, you will receive vehicle (as shown/stated in this ad), title, associated paperwork and key(s). If you need to fly into the state, please use O'hare (ORD) or Midway (MDW) then utilize the super cheap transit system into Chicago to the train stations (Union or LaSalle St). Then ride a commuter METRA train from Chicago into Joliet's Union Station. These trains run about every 1.5 hours thru the day. Total travel cost is about $10 and a couple hours time. HUGELY less than my cost of time, fuel and tolls to come get you. You can find the schedule info online Metrarail.com. If flying isn't your thing, and you have more time than money, try Amtrak.com and get yourself into Joliet, IL Union Station. I will pick you up for free in Joliet!

NEV deal to buy Saab delayed

Fri, 03 Aug 2012

Remember a month and a half ago when we told you that Saab will "soldier on?" Well, we should have written "stand at attention."
According to SaabsUnited, the deal for National Electric Vehicle Sweden to buy the remaining Saab assets didn't close on schedule. In fact, it's been delayed by "a month, perhaps more." NEVS also seems to have indicated that it's not going to be answering any more questions about the deal until it's completed.
NEVS is supposedly planning on building electric cars based on the design that would have been the next-generation 9-3. The company itself is a partnership between a Chinese energy company and a Japanese investment group.

Junkyard Gem: 2004 Saab 9-5 Arc Wagon

Sat, Jun 6 2020

As I work on my project of documenting automotive history via the machinery I find in car graveyards around the country, blank spots in the junkyard record keep showing themselves. I've remedied the lack of discarded BMW 3- and 5-Series cars in recent months, through the E46 and E39 respectively, and now I'm trying to move past the 900 in the Saab timeline. We've got the 9000 covered, and now it's the turn of the 9-3 and 9-5. Here's an '04 9-5 Arc Wagon, found in a Denver yard recently (I shot a 9-3 on the same trip and you'll see it in the near future). General Motors took over Saab in 2000, after more than a decade of 50% ownership, and so the 9-5 (or 95 if you prefer) had plenty of Opel/Holden/Vauxhall DNA in its cells. Its closest American-market relative (other than the 9-3) was the Saturn L-Series. However, you couldn't get a Saturn with a proper Saab engine under the hood, and by "proper" we mean one descended from the original Triumph Slant-4. This 2.3T turbocharged version sent 220 horsepower to the front wheels, making this a nicely quick wagon. It appears that this car endured some lean times as it approached the end of its road, with the kind of leaky-side-glass repair you do only when you know you're a car's final owner. You could get the 9-5 Wagon as the Linear, Arc, or Aero models in 2004. The Aero was the factory-hot-rod version, while the Arc was more about luxury. The leather seats in this Arc still look pretty good. Even though this car's ancestry is more German than Swedish, it has the traditional Saab console-mounted ignition switch. When it came time for The General to sell Subaru Imprezas with Saab badging, however, the ignition switches stayed in the non-Saab locations. At least the Saab-badged Chevy Trailblazer had the switch in the Trollhatten-approved location. It doesn't look as quirky as the early Saabs, which were born from Flying Barrels, but it stood up well against the competing cars offered to America's ever-shrinking pool of station wagon shoppers. Built in Sweden by Swedes! Would this have happened with an Audi wagon?   Featured Gallery Junked 2004 Saab 9-5 Arc Wagon View 26 Photos Auto News Saab Automotive History Wagon Junkyard Gems

Super sleeper Saab 900 does 174 mph in the standing mile

Sun, 14 Apr 2013

Somewhere behind Hennessey setting a new top speed record at this year's Texas Mile with its camouflage Ford GT, a stock-looking 1996 Saab 900T pulled up to the line to see what it could do. The dealer showroom wheels wouldn't offer any indication that the 2.0-liter four-cylinder under the hood was getting help from a Garrett turbocharger, a tuned ECU and E85 gas to put out 465 horsepower at the front wheels.
Knowing that, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that at the other end of the mile the sky blue Swedish wonder was doing 174 miles per hour. The four-cylinder class at the Texas Mile has plenty such rockets, too, this Swede coming just behind a Dodge Neon that did 175.8 mph. You can watch the Saab do its thing in the video below.
