The car shows the typical wear and tear of a 100,000+ mile car, but there are no glaring faults. The leather is worn, but not torn. The paint has a few rock chips, but is not fading, peeling, bubbling, or rusting otherwise. The car really is in great shape and is beautiful! Although it is almost 10 years old, the design has really aged well!Note: The Check Engine Light is on for what it believes is an Evap Leak. We have taken the car to several dealers who have looked it over and assured us nothing is wrong. They will clear the code, but the light will come back on several hundred miles later. Perhaps there is a loose vacuum hose we cannot find? We have driven it like this for two years without any problems. The car starts and runs flawlessly. We have been told by the mechanic that if the evap leak exists, it will not effect the performance or longevity of the car, only possibly its emissions."

We are selling our 2004 Saab Arc Convertible because we are moving to Boston and do not need two cars. As the Saab is the least practical with kids of our two vehicles, it's the one to go.

The car runs and drives great! All four tires have been replaced within the past year. It has a brand new battery. The top's motor was also recently serviced and the hydraulic cylinder warrantied for life. All mechanicals in the car (power locks, mirrors, seat motors and heaters, cruise control, etc.) work apart from the rear defrost.

Interior and exterior are in fair to good condition. The car shows the typical wear and tear of a 100,000+ mile car, but there are no glaring faults. The leather is worn, but not torn. The paint has a few rock chips, but is not fading, peeling, bubbling, or rusting otherwise. The car really is in great shape and is beautiful! Although it is almost 10 years old, the design has really aged well! We get nothing but compliments on what a nice looking car it is.

The car was last serviced by Falcone VW/Saab Dealership of Indianapolis for its 80,000 mile service.

1999 Saab 9-3 Viggen is a Swede worth remembering on MotorWeek

Sun, Aug 30 2015

Today, Saab survives in name only after a protracted series of bankruptcies and attempted comebacks with new owners. At the turn of the millennium, however, the brand was still able to make some great cars, though. MotorWeek is showing off one of its very best in this vintage review for the 1999 9-3 Viggen. The jet-inspired Viggen was the pinnacle of everything Saab's engineers could do at the time. Starting with the standard 9-3, the suspension was hunkered down to improve handling and lower bodywork was added for better aerodynamics. Now that the exterior looked the part, the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder was tweaked to make 225 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque. While that output may not sound hugely impressive by modern standards, those were strong numbers in the day, and the following model year made even more power. After some time behind the wheel of the VIggen, MotorWeek came away quite impressed with this Swede. While the Viggen might not have offered the full capability of high-performance, European contemporaries like the BMW M3, Saab really showed its strengths with this model.

Saab US bankruptcy plan gets legal green-light

Thu, 18 Jul 2013

It feels utterly bizarre that we're still talking about Saab, but Reuters is reporting that the bankrupt Swedish manufacturer's American arm has gotten approval from the US Bankruptcy Court to liquidate its assets and pay back creditors. As part of the plan, secured creditors like Ally Financial will receive full repayment. Unsecured creditors, consisting of those affected by abandoned leases and contracts will get anywhere from 25 to 82 percent of their money back.
There are currently $77 million in unsecured claims, according to Reuters, but that number doesn't include claims from former Saab dealers. Naturally, the entire affair is full of lawyers and legalese. A trust formed on the Saab side will be negotiating with creditors and their affiliates in an attempt to reduce claims against Saab. This sounds like the start of a long and sordid affair...

Saab-powered Ford is the most unlikely drift car we've seen

Tue, Jan 19 2016

Yes, you read that headline correctly. It's supposed to be a Saab-powered Ford, and not the other way around (although we fully support the notion of a Sonnet with a Flathead V8). Apparently, some lunatic in the UK took an ass-less 1953 Ford Anglia, paired it with a turbocharged Saab engine, and tuned the entire thing to go drifting. We like it. Called Urchfab, it's the subject of Carfection's (the blokes formerly known as XCar) latest video. Aside from looking like an extra from the British version of Mad Max, it has a problem with grip, in that there's just too much of it. This car is a fabber's dream, as we get to see its unnamed owner fashion new bits and bobs for the suspension before having an unfortunate encounter with a wall at Castle Combe. You can check out the full video up at the top of the page for a closer look at this monstrous Anglia. Related Video:
