2002 Saab 9.3 Viggen Salvage But Driveable And Repairable on 2040-cars
Brooksville, Florida, United States
This is the Viggen model that is becoming increasingly rare and difficult to locate. You may inquire on line as to its design and performance. The car has been meticulously maintained and all maintenance needs met with a complete maintenance history. The car has been classified as salvageable and repairable by the insurer and the State of Florida with the salvage title pending. It has been examined by two auto body shops and determined repairable; however, depending on the State of registration, it would most likely have to be titled "salvage/repaired". A new AC compressor and high performance brake booster assembly and tires were installed in 2013. The drivers passenger seat was re-upholstered in 2010 with 'Viggen" logo. The car is completely drive able with no performance reduction and has been verified by our SAAB mechanic who drove the car post-collision ( bit windy on the passengers side) This will make an excellent project car and once the body work is complete you will have a high performance and rare SAAB Viggen model for your enjoyment. A salvage title will be transferred to the purchaser and the purchaser will be will be required to pick up the auto at our location or have it delivered at their expense. For the serious inquiries, you can contact me and I will provide the business name and contact person who has maintained this vehicle for the past five years. I was going to maintain possession and pay for the repairs with the insurance proceeds and any out of pocket needs but encountered strong resistance from the wife and was forced to concede.

Vampire Weekend burns for Saab
Thu, 21 Mar 2013Or is it the other way around?
Could Vampire Weekend be trying to tell me something? A just-launched music video for the indie rock band's new single Diane Young features what looks like a pretty mint black Saab 900 Turbo Convertible being torched in slow-motion. In fact, with the exception of a brief, flickering cameo by a 900 three-door of a similar vintage, that's all that there is to the nearly three-minute long video. It's both sad and oddly beautiful.
Coincidentally, I have a similar-looking turbocharged black Saab convertible sitting in my garage, and I've been reluctantly pondering its sale this very week. Admittedly, mine is a later model (2001 9-3 Viggen), but tri-spokes and more tapered rump aside, it looks eerily identical. And while mine isn't mired in flames (I love it too much to torch it), through no fault of its own, it's been sitting motionless far too regularly. Thankfully, I see a better future for it than the droptop seen above.
Saab 900 SPG is the latest Petrolicious love story
Thu, 03 Oct 2013The latest video from the crew at Petrolicious covers one funky Swede - a 1989 Saab 900 SPG. Produced from 1978 to 1998, the 900 enjoyed a long history, and thanks to its iconic look, it's quickly becoming a modern classic for the off-kilter car enthusiast. The SPG, short for Special Performance Group, makes this a particularly rare find, with owner Jordan Melville saying, "I didn't even realize what I had at the time."
Melville gives a rundown of his life with the 900 and his passion for Saab overall, even reflecting on that dark day that saw the Swedish brand closed its doors. As always, the videography is excellent and the story is intriguing in this latest video from Petrolicious. You can view the entire video down below.
Saab to hire 200 engineers, might build gas cars with Mahindra
Thu, 14 Jun 2012The brand formerly known as Saab is still intent on teaching The Little Engine That Could a few ticks about persistence. We say "formerly known" because it turns out that National Electric Vehicle Swedent (NEVS), the Sino-Japanese investment consortium that just bought the majority of Saab's assets, minus Saab Automobile Parts AB, may not actually own the rights to the Saab brand name. According to a report in Di.se via Saabs United, NEVS will need to negotiate with Scania and the Swedish aerospace and defense group, Saab AB, for the right to name its forthcoming electric car the Saab 9-3.
NEVS is hiring 200 engineers now to work on its electric car program, and reports are that it will hire more as it gets closer to the 2014 launch. It will be based on the current (read: ancient) 9-3, and we hope NEVS is succeeds in getting the naming rights, because the NEVS 9-3 just doesn't have the same ring. NEVS will likely target China as the model's main market.
However, it's rumors of their second negotiating ploy that we're really rooting for: to work with Mahinda & Mahindra, the Indian company once in the running for Saab's assets, develop a petrol-powered 9-3 on the next-generation Phoenix platform, based on Jason Castriota's design.
