1999 Saab 9-3 Se Well Maintained Custom Rims Newish Tires on 2040-cars
Houston, Texas, United States

I am selling
my 1999 Saab 9-3 SE with 155,278 miles which is in good working order and has
been well maintained. Oil has been changed religiously and all general
maintenance has been kept up. I purchased a new car and this car has been
seldom used in the past year. Car was
inspected 152,000 miles by a certified Saab shop and I have included a picture
of the results which indicate very minor repairs needing to be done. Clutch and
water pump have been replaced, and the clutch master cylinder was just replaced
(152,000). A brand new
AC compressor and drier and a brand new radiator were installed a month ago. AC is
immediate and frigid! Heat is warm and cranks! The only
thing which has not been done is the timing chain: it is not presently making
any noise but mileage indicates this will need to be done in the not too
distant future. This car is
mechanically sound and has been very reliable…this car was made before GM took
over Saab and quality slipped. Cosmetically
car is in fair to good condition. Paint has numerous scratches and a few small
dents and roof shows where a roof rack had been installed. Interior is quite
nice but leather seats have tears and cracking. All power windows work. Power
locks are a little sticky. There is a nice Sony head unit installed but car has
no speakers as I moved the custom system to my other car. I have
included many pictures and have tried my best to show all flaws with the car… The tires
are practically brand new with custom 18” Katana Rims that make the car look
amazing! It also greatly improved the handling but did make NVH more
noticeable. These rims
are very high end and expensive and really make the car stand out! Car is sold
AS IS!! Buyer is
responsible for picking car up or arranging for shipping. Payment must
be received within 5 business days! Car is being
sold locally and I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time. |

Future Classic: 1999-2002 Saab 9-3 Viggen
Mon, Jan 30 2023Given the company’s now-defunct status, you could argue that all Saabs are future classics. Even the final round of cars from the era of General Motors ownership deserve their place in history. Seriously, how hot was the last 9-5? Handsome design and quirky features were hallmarks of the Saab brand, and its cars felt every bit as premium as its primary European competitors. But while other luxury carmakers put great effort into full lineups of performance cars, Sweden only produced the odd sporty Saab every once in a while. One of our favorites was the 9-3 Viggen from the turn of the century, and itÂ’s a car that still makes us swoon today. Why is the Saab 9-3 Viggen a future classic? Saab's whole "born from jets" tagline never really made much sense, but at least the 9-3 Viggen's name was a nod to the company's aerospace roots. The Swedish word "Viggen" translates to "thunderbolt" in English, and this name was used on the Saab 37 Viggen aircraft that entered service in the early 1970s. MotorWeek | Retro Review: '99 Saab Viggen The 9-3 Viggen used a turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four engine, most notably remembered for its eyebrow-raising 20 psi of boost pressure. Rated at 225 horsepower – which was later bumped up to 230 hp – and 252 pound-feet of torque, this engine was paired exclusively with a five-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. Stiffer suspension components, firmer dampers, stronger driveshafts, a heavy-duty clutch and a revised exhaust were also part of the package. The Viggen was relatively quick, with Saab quoting a 0-to-60-mph time of around 6.5 seconds. However, the 9-3 Viggen is largely remembered for things like its ridiculous turbo lag and torque steer – characteristics that kind of made this car hilarious to drive, even if they took away from overall sharpness and composure. What is the ideal example of the Saab 9-3 Viggen? Saab offered the 9-3 Viggen as a three-door hatchback, five-door hatchback and two-door convertible. And while this car is most commonly remembered in its launch shade, Lightning Blue, Saab offered the Viggen in black, gray, red, silver and yellow. You could even spec the interior with blue, orange or tan leather accents. Arguably the most iconic 9-3 Viggen spec is a Lightning Blue three-door hatch, but the other colors are far more rare. WeÂ’ve got a major soft spot for a Monte Carlo Yellow five-door, but really, you canÂ’t go wrong.
Saab-powered Ford is the most unlikely drift car we've seen
Tue, Jan 19 2016Yes, you read that headline correctly. It's supposed to be a Saab-powered Ford, and not the other way around (although we fully support the notion of a Sonnet with a Flathead V8). Apparently, some lunatic in the UK took an ass-less 1953 Ford Anglia, paired it with a turbocharged Saab engine, and tuned the entire thing to go drifting. We like it. Called Urchfab, it's the subject of Carfection's (the blokes formerly known as XCar) latest video. Aside from looking like an extra from the British version of Mad Max, it has a problem with grip, in that there's just too much of it. This car is a fabber's dream, as we get to see its unnamed owner fashion new bits and bobs for the suspension before having an unfortunate encounter with a wall at Castle Combe. You can check out the full video up at the top of the page for a closer look at this monstrous Anglia. Related Video:
1999 Saab 9-3 Viggen is a Swede worth remembering on MotorWeek
Sun, Aug 30 2015Today, Saab survives in name only after a protracted series of bankruptcies and attempted comebacks with new owners. At the turn of the millennium, however, the brand was still able to make some great cars, though. MotorWeek is showing off one of its very best in this vintage review for the 1999 9-3 Viggen. The jet-inspired Viggen was the pinnacle of everything Saab's engineers could do at the time. Starting with the standard 9-3, the suspension was hunkered down to improve handling and lower bodywork was added for better aerodynamics. Now that the exterior looked the part, the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder was tweaked to make 225 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque. While that output may not sound hugely impressive by modern standards, those were strong numbers in the day, and the following model year made even more power. After some time behind the wheel of the VIggen, MotorWeek came away quite impressed with this Swede. While the Viggen might not have offered the full capability of high-performance, European contemporaries like the BMW M3, Saab really showed its strengths with this model.
