Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II 1977 Old Ivory over burgundy with ivory piping. This is a really beautiful
combination Silver Shadow II finished in Old Ivory with hand-painted fine lines
in burgundy to the waist lines and the hubcap beauty rings. The Connolly interior is finished in rich
burgundy with off-white piping and matching floor rugs in the same theme. All glass, chrome and bright work are excellent. All lights,
instruments, features and functions are in working order. At the time of
restoration, the owner requested the option of "heated seats",
something not otherwise available on the Silver Shadow series. Park-Ward Motors
installed these in a very discrete factory-style manner keeping the original
look. Mechanically, she is a regularly maintained example with all
services up to date and recently thoroughly checked with anything requiring
attention repaired and/or replaced as needed. The recent owner was very fussy
and even though we know "all Rolls-Royces leak oil" he spent
considerable money changing all seals and gaskets resulting in what is, most
likely, the driest Rolls-Royce in the country! Everything is functioning as it
should including hydraulics & brakes - bled and pressure tested with
various parts replaced/over-hauled (reservoir, pumps, accumulator, hoses etc).
All electrics; seats, windows, gauges and instruments work well. The climate
control is in good order with the heater nice and hot and the air conditioning
blowing icy cold. Everything is original so it is to OEM Rolls-Royce standard
without modification. Brand new whitewall tires were fitted all-round and these
currently sport 90+% of their new-tyre tread. The car has NOT been "tarted-up" but professionally restored with all aspects attended to correctly and with pride and passion by craftsmen in all aspects Rolls-Royce. It has been completely workshop inspected and mechanically over-hauled where required. Even the stainless and bright-work were completely removed and hand-polished off the vehicle and again when re-assembled and mounted. This Silver Shadow II was a west coast car most of its life and then spent some 8 years in storage in Arizona. It was purchased by a Californian enthusiast following her detailed restoration. The car has only been driven on special occasions and has never seen snow and salty roads. The car is an extremely beautiful presenting example that is well in advance of any Silver Shadow II and is in excellent driver condition. It easily ranks a 9 1/2out of 10.

This is a perfect example for parking on the Cafe strip in Miami or touring the shopping streets of Beverly Hills. It is by definition, not show-standard but has been professionally restored. This Rolls-Royce is part of a private collection. Although licensed and bonded, I am not a main-stream retail car dealer or broker; I am a professional car collector of some 30 years with considerable experience and knowledge of Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars. Bloodhound SSC fires up Rolls-Royce jet engine for land speed record
Thu, Oct 5 2017RAF ST MAWGAN, England — Fizz, whirr, shriek, pop and silence ... It took several attempts to get the Bloodhound land speed record contender started for the first time on Sept. 28. On a bright and blustery day at RAF St Mawgan in Cornwall, in southwest England, the sense of occasion was palpable, if only the damn jet engine's blades would fire up. But the Rolls-Royce 20,232-pound-thrust turbofan wasn't going to give up its virgin status as a car engine easily. As driver, RAF pilot and current land speed record-holder Andy Green explained, the Rolls EJ200 is one of the most reliable military jet engines ever, but it's never been used before in a car. "I can show you figures of its incredible reliability," he said, "but every bit of its control software expects it to be in a Typhoon [fighter aircraft], and we have to keep telling it that it is in an aircraft, which needs some quick-footed work on the software." "We knew it was going to take a couple of starts to get it running," said Chapman, who explained why the engine appeared so smoky at first. "This is an inhibited engine, so it was tested a couple of months ago at Rolls-Royce and basically filled with corrosion inhibitor, and you've got to blow that all through at the start.
Buyers flipping a Rolls-Royce Spectre won't be tolerated, company says
Mon, Jul 10 2023The act of flipping cars — that is, buying a limited or highly desirable model and then reselling it for big profit — wonÂ’t go unnoticed, or be tolerated, by Rolls-Royce. Specifically referring to the new Rolls Spectre — the first electric car from the brand — Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos told Car Dealer that any customer who sells or try to sell one will be blacklisted for life if he attempts to buy another from a dealer. Speaking at the launch of the new car in California, he said: ‘I can tell you we are really sanitizing the need to prove who you are, what you want to do with the car – you need to qualify for a car and then you might get a slot for an order.” But those who violate the policy and resell the vehicle at a higher price are “going immediately on a blacklist and this is it – you will never ever have the chance to acquire again.Â’ The super-luxe Spectre is to open its order books soon with deliveries to start in the autumn. Base price in the UK is about $425,000. The response from some dealers in Britain, who say the inflated price resales are legal, was resentment at Rolls. London dealer Tom Hartle, known for selling secondhand Rolls-Royce models, said that he has already agreed to collect GBP50,000 ($65,000) premiums for two Spectres. He said he will have a Spectre for sale at his used-car dealership "within two weeks of it being launched.” ”I do not think it is fair for carmakers to tell customers who have spent close to half a million pounds on a car what they can do with it,” he told Car Dealer. Last year, General Motors said it would ban flippers "from placing future sold orders or reservations if the vehicle is resold within the first 12 months of ownership." Those high-demand products were the Corvette Z06, the Cadillac Escalade-V, and the GMC Hummer EV. Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books
Fri, 08 Aug 2014The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
