1986 Rolls Royce Corniche Ii on 2040-cars

Up for sale is a 1986 Rolls Royce Corniche II Convertible. This was part of a large estate collection and is being offered at the lowest reserve ever for a Corniche II. It was brought out of storage and sent over to Master Rolls in Oak Lawn, IL. Martin the master technician over there went through the car and fixed/serviced/replaced everything it could ever need.

The total bill was $11,000 in repairs:

Resealed both brake pumps

Major Tune Up

Oil Change

Complete Brake job (rotors, pads, mineral oil)

Fuel Filter

Air Filter

New Battery

Fuel line service

Rear struts replaced, sealed, oil.

Flush brake system

Top off all fluids

Seals replaced

Power Steering replaced

I am sure I am missing a few things but those were major items. It now runs, starts, drives, and stops as if it were new. AC even works. All the electronics work. Odometer did just stop working for some reason. I can't figure out why, maybe it will start working again. The car is not driven so the mileage is right around 52,000. Tires look new. Mechanically needs nothing to enjoy.

The Corniche spent most of its life in California. It was purchased roughly 10 years ago by the owner now. Comes with the complete manual and documents. I have the receipts for the $11,000 in work as well. That work was just completed yesterday.

Condition of the exterior of the car as you can see looks good in the pictures. The paint is white but, underneath the clear coat it is all spider webbed/cracked. I have no idea how something like this could have happened. It is tough to notice unless you get very close and look. It is very smooth to touch. The red convertible top does have a rip at the bottom driver side corner. Nothing to serious but not perfect. Rims are in great shape no issues. Like I said tires are in great condition. Chrome grill is perfect. The rear bumper has wear on it, the chrome piece has pealed off in a spot. There is are long scratch at the bottom which is pictured.

Interior condition is light tan leather with no rips but shows wear as a almost 30 year old car would. Driver side is the worse as to be accepted.  Wood is very nice and bright no wear there. Carpet is all red and has no rips and looks very nice. It has one of the thick lambs wool driver side floor mats. Radio works, windows all work, top goes up and down on its own. Heat and AC both work. Power seats work. Has the Nardi signed steering wheel option.

Feel free to ask any questions. I am not a dealer so I don't have a shipping company but I can work with anyone's company of choice for shipping out of state or country. $1,000 deposit due within 48 hours. Final payment due within a week.

Aeroboat packs 1,100 seahorses of Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 power

Wed, 21 May 2014

We don't typically cover boats here - this is, after all, Autoblog and not Aquablog - but every so often something comes along that makes us want to dip our toes in the water, whether it's a Jaguar-designed speedboat, a Gulf-liveried megayacht or a Lamborghini-powered Riva Aquarama. This is another one of those occasions.
Set to be unveiled at the Salute to Style show in July at The Hurlingham Club in London, the Aeroboat is a motor yacht that seems to blend retro and furutistic lines in equal measure that would make Jules Verne proud without going Steampunk. Inspired by the Spitfire fighter plane, the Aeroboat packs aircraft-inspired switchgear and shock-mounted seats into a long, sleek form. But what really has our interests piqued is what lies beneath the stylish decks.
Each of the dozen Aeroboats to be built will pack a reconditioned, marinized, fuel-injected Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine - the same 27-liter powerplant that propelled the Spitfire. With 1,100 horsepower on tap, it's expected to propel the Aeroboat up to a top speed between 75 and 95 knots, or 86-109 miles per hour by landlubber standards, which is pretty damn fast on the open water.

Rolls-Royce rolls out one-off Ghost Golden Sunbird in China

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

In 2001, archeologists in the palace city of Chengdu, China, uncovered the Golden Sun Bird, an ancient artifact that dates back to the Shang Dynasty from 1000 BC. The disc depicts the sun and is made of almost solid gold, measuring five inches across and weighing 20 grams. The city adopted it as its logo, and now Rolls-Royce has commemorated the find and the heritage behind it with a unique one-off.
Based on the long-wheelbase version of the Ghost, the Golden Sunbird edition features a two-tone white and gold paint scheme, with gold coachline and gold grille topped by a gold Spirit of Ecstasy. The interior has likewise been gilded with gold embroidery atop the light brown leather and white trim to match the coachwork.
The result may be elegant but is certainly not subtle. And of course it's just the latest in a long line of special editions and one-offs Rolls-Royce has crafted, particularly for markets in the Middle and Far East.

Rolls-Royce debuts Phantom Drophead Coupe Waterspeed Collection

Tue, 13 May 2014

For the next act in its Bespoke Collection, Rolls-Royce has found one of its own to celebrate with the Phantom Drophead Coupé Waterspeed Collection, noting the achievements of British land and water record-holder Sir Malcolm Campbell. Like a few other racers of his era in the 1920s and 1930s, Campbell used his Bluebird Motor Company and Bluebird Garage to fund his interest in motorsports. He would break the waterspeed record in 1937 in his Bluebird K3 powered by a Rolls-Royce R engine, traveling 126.33 miles per hour on Italy's Lake Maggiore.
We've seen sketches of what Rolls-Royce intended with the Waterspeed Collection, and the real thing is just as handsome, and the new model includes a number of firsts for the marque. The Maggiore Blue exterior paint is also used for highlights on the engine, the polished wheels, two-tone steering wheel and the dashboard. The tonneau cover normally finished in teak is instead done in hand-finished brushed steel, a closer contrast to the Windchill Grey interior. The Abachi wood veneers have also been bookmatched so that their grain evokes the wake of a speeding boat.
The droptop will be shown first at the Bluebird Garage Cafe in London on the site of the original garage, after which it will get its first wider showing at the Concorso D'Eleganza at Villa D'Este later this month. The press release below has a lot more detail on the finer detailing of the Drophead Coupe Waterspeed, and the images above are worth at least 8,000 words.
