DESCRIPTION AND OTHER INFORMATION

1973 Rolls Royce Corniche Convertible
  7,827 Certified One Owner Miles

Full 5 Passenger

For over 61 years I have been selling Rolls Royces and Bentleys, both new and pre owned, from this same location. I still get excited when I get an opportunity to offer a truly exceptional motorcar. This Corniche is as beautiful as it was when it was hand built by the dedicated craftsmen at the Rolls Royce factory in Crewe England. There were very few Corniche built and even fewer left hand drive shipped to the USA. This particular masterpiece was purchased new by a new car dealer who had an extensive collection of “Original” motorcars in his collection. This particular motorcar has only 7,827 carefully driven miles by its only owner. When we purchased this specimen we had it delivered directly to our expert Rolls Royce mechanic who meticulously restored the engine and suspension to like new condition. This all original work of art is finished in a deep metallic ocean blue with matching ocean blue Connelly leather and blue sheepskin overlays. The special blond burled walnut is in exceptional condition as is the factory white convertible top. It has the all aluminum 8 cylinder engine and automatic transmission. It was fitted with every refinement available at its inception like climate control air conditioning, electric seats, windows and door locks, AM/FM stereo radio with cassette player. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a classic, original “New” Rolls Royce Corniche convertible. It is for the most particular connoisseur who is looking for an investment or maybe just driving pleasure.

Rolls-Royce Cullinan and BMW 8 Series spied south of Death Valley

Wed, Aug 30 2017

Recently, we've stumbled upon a number of manufacturer prototypes running around. Usually, spy photographers sit and wait for hours with cameras primed in order to get a few shots of a car. We just got lucky. First, we caught the new Chevy Corvette ZR1 convertible during a Facebook Live video. A week or so later McGraw snapped a video of a ZR1 coupe cruising in his neck of the woods. Today, our ace photographer Drew Phillips caught a BMW test fleet filling up the new Rolls-Royce Cullinan and 8 Series coupe in Baker, Calif. Baker sits along Interstate 15, about halfway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. It's just south of Death Valley, and, being late August, suggests that BMW was doing some hot weather testing. Drew was filling up his car when the fleet rolled in. There were at least two of the new king Rolls and a single 8 Series. Both cars were wearing a full swirl camouflage wrap. It's not an uncommon place to see prototypes. Still, seeing a whole fleet roll in is quite a sight. We've seen official photos of the Cullinan before, but these pictures give us our best view of the profile and rear we've had so far. From a distance, it looks like a high-riding version of the new Phantom with a hatch in place of the trunk. The taillights are obviously just filler units. Expect the final version to look very much like the squared off LED units on the Phantom. Likewise the interior and engine should be straight from the Phantom. That means a twin-turbocharged V12, though power is likely to be sent to all four wheels. We've seen the full BMW 8 Series concept a few times now. The proportions on the production car look the same, with a long hood and even longer wheelbase. The nose isn't quite as aggressive as the concept, but we expected the styling to be toned down to meet crash and safety standards. As for engines, look for six, eight and (hopefully) 12-cylinder power under the hood. A plug-in variant is also expected. Both cars have been in development for a long while, so look for full debuts sometime this auto show season. Maybe we'll happen upon some more test mules between now and then. Related Video:

Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
The News has the full story on this strange bit of marketing. Head over and take a look.

2015 Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II [w/video]

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

Rolls-Royce Director of Global Communications Richard Carter tells me that his storied employer is "a company that does not chase volume." In a perfect world, mused Carter, the carmaker would sell "one less" of its ultra-luxury vehicles than the fast-expanding world market demands.
And, thanks in no small part to the unprecedented success of the Series I Rolls-Royce Ghost that launched in 2010, the Brit brand seems well positioned to strike that perfect balance between exclusivity and record profits. In 2003 (the year in which the first BMW-backed Rolls rolled off the line in West Sussex), the company managed to sell around 500 cars. This year, with the first run of already-back-ordered Ghost Series II models still weeks away from delivery, the marque will top 4,000 units for the first time in its history.
Considering that each one of those "units" - a somewhat unsatisfying term for motor car this special - will gross Rolls-Royce $300,000 if we're being very conservative, you'll quickly see that creating a very desirable product for one of the best brands in the world negates the need to chase volume. The rich and free-spending are chasing this Ghost, instead.
