2020 Ram 3500 dually spied with updated styling and new lighting
Wed, Jul 11 2018Just yesterday, we got our first look at the upcoming Ram 2500 Power Wagon, a replacement for FCA's aging heavy duty truck lineup. Today, we get a look at the new Ram 3500 dually, big workhorse of HD lineup. Like with the 2500, we expect the new truck's styling to fall in line with the new 2019 Ram 1500. Expect a full reveal sometime early next year. Just like with the Power Wagon in yesterday's photos, this Ram 3500 is covered with copious amounts of camouflage. You can make out some LED lighting through the front, but that's about it as far as details go. The fenders appear to sit higher than the current model, though it should still have a bit of a drop from the hood. Though it's hard to see here, the grille is likely to lose the crosshair design, too. Really, just imagine the new Ram 1500 cranked up a notch or two and you'll have the new HD lineup. We don't know what powertrains the new Ram 3500 will use, but expect a mix of Hemi V8s and Cummins diesels. The new eTorque system might make it's way over, too, helping provide a slight boost to both torque and efficiency. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. 2019 Ram ProMaster, ProMaster City vans lose the crosshair grille
Wed, Jun 27 2018Ram is updating its commercial van offerings with the 2019 Ram ProMaster and ProMaster City full-size and compact vans. They're very minor updates, mainly consisting of a new grille. The old crosshair versions are gone in favor of mesh grilles with the Ram logo in all caps. This brings them inline with the 2019 Ram 1500 pickup trucks. The compact ProMaster City doesn't get any other changes, but the big ProMaster sans-City gets some upgrades buyers may appreciate. The variety of van configurations has been expanded to include 136-inch wheelbase, low-roof options for the 2500 and 3500, and a high-roof 136-inch body for the 3500. With the current ProMaster, only 1500 models can be had with a low roof, and there are no 136-inch offerings for the 3500. View 7 Photos Ram has also increased payload capacities for each trim, with the 1500 now sitting at 4,000 pounds, the 2500 at 4,250, and the 3500 at 4,680. Towing capacity is also up, with a maximum weight of 6,800 pounds. The most a current generation van can tow is 5,100 pounds. All of this is done with the same 280-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 and six-speed automatic. One additional change to both the big ProMaster and little ProMaster City is pricing. Both vans see base price increases of $200. The ProMaster starts at $31,840, and the ProMaster City starts at $25,740 for the two-seat cargo van. The two-row wagon version is an extra $1,700. 2019 Ram 1500 pickup spotted without the classic crosshairs
Mon, Oct 16 2017Ram has done a good job of hiding its next-generation trucks from the public, but one of our spy photographers finally glimpsed the pickup with very little camouflage. One truck was even wearing just its factory paint job. From what we can see, the 2019 Ram pickup will be a big departure from the current generation. (UPDATE, January 2018: Here are the story and photos from the 2019 Ram's full reveal at the Detroit Auto Show.) Up front are the most significant changes. Ram trucks since the mid-'90s have been distinguished by their big-rig looks that consisted of low mounted headlights, and a tall, proud grille. That grille was also made all the more prominent by how the middle of the hood met the top of the grille, while the sides of the hood and the fenders dipped down toward the headlights. This traditional look has mostly disappeared. The headlights have been raised up to the top of the grille opening. Now the grille drops below the lights. There is still a hint of the old style in the hood, but the look is very different. That hood and the front bumper also are more sculpted and detailed to emphasize the truck's toughness, and the hood now features a badge with the model of truck and its engine. The dark red truck in the photos has a 5.7-liter V8. The grille appears to be missing the classic crosshairs, too, and instead there's just one horizontal bar. It's possible this is just for this trim level, since the current Ram has a variety of grilles sans crosshairs. Moving around the truck, the changes are less radical. The Ram's flanks are still impressively clean and uncluttered, featuring simple, organic curves. The taillights are more detailed now, and the turn signals and reverse lights have little swoops in them. The tailgate is very clean, too, and the various holes in the back indicate that there will be no shortage of badging and garnish options at the rear. Expect to see all the details in the near future, in time for the 2019 model year. Related Video:
