2001 Porsche Boxster S (986S) with 115k miles. Very clean and fully serviced at 109k miles, oil was also changed again with Mobil 1 last month (<500 miles ago). I personally inspected the oil filter and sent the oil to be analyzed.

The Boxster S upgrades over the base model:

247hp 3.2L engine, the base engine is much slower
• 6 speed manual transmission
• dual exhaust
• different front bumper
• the "Big Red" Porsche brakes

Looks and drives like a car with less than half the miles! Runs and drives very smooth. The pre-purchase inspection was preformed by German Motor Werks, where the car was given a clean bill of health. Anything that was found, has been taken care of. A nicely equipped S, that clearly has had a good life. Never been in the snow or salt. No issues, no leaks, no stories, just a wonderful driving Porsche Boxster S that needs nothing. This Porsche is faster, smoother, and drives nicer than comparable S2000's and MX5's.

Here is the work that was just completed:

• Brakes -- Rotors and pads front and rear.
• New spark plugs.
• All new belts.
• All new fluids -- cooling system, brake fluid, transmission fluid and oil. The last two done with synthetic oil.
• New Bilstein HD shocks and a new alignment, which is the best thing to do when you change any suspension parts.
• Drain plugs/channel under the top has been thoroughly cleaned so they drain properly. A common thing that is not done on these cars.
• Front bumper removed so they could properly clean out the front radiators.

This Porsche Boxster S has:

• power convertible top in great shape, crystal clear rear window
• matching set of Continental DWS high performance all season tires
• power everything
• cruise control
• cold AC
• cd player

Watch a Cayenne Turbo S, Range Rover SVR, and Cherokee SRT drag race

Thu, Mar 17 2016

We live in a weird world where high-performance SUVs could win a 60-mile-per-hour sprint against sports cars from just a few years ago. Here, Top Gear sets up a three-way drag race against the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR, and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, and the results show just how quickly these high-riding models can cross the quarter mile. The Cherokee SRT is the patriotic choice among the three, but it's down on power in this fight. Meanwhile, the Range Rover's menacing growl sounds the best, and the Cayenne Turbo S has the most horsepower. You'll have to watch the video to see which SUV will win this battle. Related Video:

VW Group to split brands under four holding companies

Tue, Jun 16 2015

The Volkswagen Group is planning a tremendous shift in its internal structure that will decentralize operations by splitting its 12 brands into four different holding companies. Here's the breakdown. Things will be split logically, considering the inter-sharing of parts, platforms, and engines. The Volkswagen brand, Seat, and Skoda make up a passenger vehicle division led by former BMW man Herbert Diess. Audi, which is tightly intertwined with Lamborghini and motorcycle manufacturer Ducati, will be managed by current Audi exec Rupert Stadler. Porsche and Bentley, which are already quite close, will be joined by Bugatti and run by Matthias Mueller. Finally, a commercial vehicles division will include Volkswagen Commercial, Scania, and Man. Former Daimler exec Andreas Renschler will take care of the big vehicles. The massive move, according to Automotive News Europe, is part of an internal VAG effort to move away from the structure established by ousted Chairman Ferdinand Piech, who favored a compact, but highly centralized, management structure to oversee the independent actions of the company's brands. Criticism of Piech's arrangement stemmed from the company's slow responses to changes in the market, ANE reports. The new structure should make for a more efficient, streamlined company that's better able to make crucial decisions. What are your thoughts? Should VAG decentralize, or did Piech have the right idea? Have your say in Comments.

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet spotted testing in the nude

Tue, 16 Jul 2013

The Porsche 911 wouldn't be the Porsche 911 unless there were twenty-something different models to choose from (note: we are not complaining), and the latest one was just spied by our trusty photographers out on Germany's Nürburgring. Feast your eyes on the 911 Turbo Cabriolet - the droptop version of the new Turbo wonder that debuted in May - looking all sorts of stealth in its black-on-black-on-black prototype scheme.
Mechanically, the 911 Turbo Cab should be identical to the fixed-roof version, meaning a twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six engine will live in the car's rump, putting out something like 520 horsepower. Of course, there's also the hotter Turbo S version of the coupe, and we expect that to get the droptop treatment, as well, with 560 horsepower on tap. The added weight of the folding top and additional structural supports will likely make for slightly slower 0-60 times for both cars, though considering the base Turbo will hit 60 miles per hour in 3.2 seconds, "slower" is a very relative term indeed. All that force will run to the ground via all-wheel drive, managed by Porsche's seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission.
The wide stance of the 911 Turbo Coupe carries over to the Cabriolet, no doubt fitted with the same (standard) 20-inch wheels. Inside, the usual luxury amenities will be on hand, along with nearly endless customization options.
