1989 Porsche 911 Turbo rolls out of Harry's Garage

It's getting increasing hard not to feel a little envious of Harry Metcalfe's collection of vehicles, especially with his latest purchase. He now owns the trinity of '80s European supercars with an '87 Lamborghini Countach, an '87 Ferrari Testarossa, and the recent addition of an '89 Porsche 911 Turbo. With the other two already featured in videos, the example from Stuttgart gets the focus in Metcalfe's latest clip. These turbos have a reputation for being a bit of a handful to drive, and according to Metcalfe that notoriety isn't entirely undeserved. With no power steering, floor-mounted pedals, oddly placed controls and lots of turbo lag, this era of 911 Turbo is difficult to master. However, it's a wonderful challenge that really engages the driver, according to Metcalfe. While a very different vehicle from the Countach or Testarossa, it's clear that this 911 Turbo is still a beloved member in Metcalfe's trio of '80s supercars. Porsche issues stop-sale on Cayenne Diesel in US

As reported yesterday, the ongoing Volkswagen diesel emissions scandal has expanded to the VW Group's 3.0-liter TDI V6 engines. The Environmental Protection Agency's finding implicate many engines used by Audi and Porsche, including Porsche's only US domestic market diesel offering: the Cayenne. And after putting two and two together, Porsche has issued a stop-sale on its US-market Cayenne diesels. Porsche's statement is terse. They refer to the EPA's findings as "unexpected," and stress that its stop-sale order is "voluntary." And Porsche assures owners that they can continue to drive their Cayennes as per normal, like the rest of the VW Group vehicles called into question for NOx emissions. The stop-sale order will remain in place indefinitely, until Porsche can "resolve" the issue. No word as of yet as to what the fix will be for the 3.0-liter TDI engines. Porsche Cayman GTS in track battle with 996 GT3

Here's your tough question of the day: Would you rather drive a new Porsche Cayman GTS or a slightly older, 996-era Porsche 911 GT3? Certainly, both cars have their plusses. The Cayman is the more modern proposition, sure, but the GT3 is, well, a GT3. So yes, it's a tough decision.

Calling the GTS "fantastically agile" and "fast, but it's also hilariously good fun," Bovingdon bangs home a solid lap time of 1:05.2 before switching to the GT3. It's remarkable to see just how dated the 996-generation 911 looks after viewing the newer Porsche, and from where we sit, it's further proof that the old car's headlights are something that's best forgotten. Styling qualms aside, though, can the GT3 keep up with its racy younger cousin?
