We have for sale a 2000 Porsche Boxster with 111,500mi.  I will try to describe the vehicle as accurately as possible.

We are a small auto repair and sales facility.  This is a vehicle we purchased at auction as a flood damaged vehicle which did not run.  The vehicle was from the Chicago area.  We quickly found the anti theft computer, located under the driver's seat, had gotten wet and shorted out.  We replaced the computer, had the computers re-flashed, and it was now a running car.  Front wheel bearings were replaced and the vehicle was drive-able.  We subsequently replaced the coolant overflow tank (it was leaking) and the left front radiator for the same reason. All three ignition coils on bank 1 were replaced as well as direct fit upstream and downstream oxygen sensors.  I've put approximately 150 miles on the car and it is lot of fun to drive.  IT'S A PORSCHE!!!

The car runs very nice.  The Tiptronic transmission works properly and shifts well.  The suspension is in overall good condition.  The tires are new in the rear and like new in the front.  The brakes work well and feel solid with no warping in the front.  The electronics all work: electric windows, convertible top, A/C, heated seats, radio.  The top is in EXCELLENT condition.  It appears it was replaced in February of 2013, based upon receipts found in the vehicle.  Overall, it's a nice car with a lot more potential.  It looks good, handles well, it's fun to drive, and...well...IT'S A PORSCHE!!!!!!

OK, now the bad.  This car does have an IL title branded flood.  As I said, I don't know why other than the computer was shorted out.  Driven through a puddle???  The seats are in fair condition.  The leather on the seat pad on the driver's seat is perforated leather and there is cracking and tearing.  See pics.  The odometer works but the backlight is out. The radio has some dead LCD crystals on the left side of the radio display.  The quarter panel near the left side air intake is dented and has had some repair in the past.  I tried to show as much in pics.  The driver's door mirror housing is loose. I will see if I can repair that before auction end.  It works fine, just rattles a bit.  While the top looks and works very well, it seems like it rattles a little more than it should.  I don't know if there are adjustments or not. The right front side marker reflector is broken.  The car could use a professional detail (we clean each car to the best we can...we are not a detail shop).

All that being said, this car is being sold with NO RESERVE!  It is being sold AS IS.  We will help with shipping or assistance in any way we can.  We are located 3 miles from the Milwaukee airport and would gladly pick you up if needed.  Deposit of $500 through PayPal with the balance due in cash or certified funds.  Please feel free to call us at 414-747-9920 with any questions.  Thank you.

I have to mention the vehicle is for sale locally and will end the auction early if sold locally.

2015 24 Hours of Le Mans live race report

Sat, Jun 13 2015

Check back regularly for more race updates every few hours. No, you don't need to stay up for the entire 24 Hours of Le Mans, but if you want to catch any of the action, Autoblog friend Reilly Brennan has a handy guide. And to keep you up to speed on the latest race events, we'll be posting live from Le Mans with regular race reports.Hour 1: Five laps in, Audi breaks up the three Porsches at the front, with the #19 919 Hybrid, driven by Nico Hulkenburg, passed by all three R18s. Hulkenburg eventually took back fifth position only to fall back again after the first pit stop. Meanwhile, clutch trouble kept the #23 Nissan GTR-LM in the pits until 15 minutes into the race. The other two Nissans were forced to start at the back of the grid after failing to the meet the 110 percent qualifying speed regulation. At the end of the first hour, just 7.5 seconds separated the first six cars. Then the factory team #92 Porsche GTE car caught fire, with the the #13 Rebellion P1 car taking frontal damage in the ensuing carnage. With the safety car out, the field is once again bunched up.Hour 2: The slugfest between Audi and Porsche continues, with neither side backing off. Halfway through the second hour the #7 R18 passes both leading Porsches for the top position. After another round of pits stops Porsche regains the lead until lap 30, when the Audi overtake once again and quickly pulls out a three-second gap. Nico Hulkenburg passes the other two Audis to join his Porsche teammates. At the beginning of the third hour it's Audi #7, Porsche #17, #18, and #19, followed by Audi #8 and #9. 33 seconds separates this group, with Toyota a minute back from the front car.Hour 3: On track the action refuses to stop. Although it's early, Audi is looking strong with the overall lead in the #7. What's more is that the Audis run four stints per set of tires, while the Porsche cars have to change rubber every third stop. But after a quick refueling, the lead R18 gets a tire puncture and comes back in 3 laps later, allowing Porsche to take over the top two spots. Then as the hour closes out a yellow flag causes traffic to bunch up and the #8 Audi gets stuck with nowhere to slow down. Driver Loic Duval dives for the side of the road but hits the guard rail and careens across the track, damaging the front and rear bodywork. The rest of the car is still intact, though, and once in the pits Audi replaces the entire front and rear of that in only three minutes.

Porsche 911: Big in Taiwan

Fri, 09 Aug 2013

Porsche is continuing celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of its iconic 911. In its latest video, it's gone to Taiwan, to interview some of the folks that have grown passionate about the rear-engined sportscar over the years.
By and large, the views expressed in this video could have come from anywhere in the world. The 911 is a great car and that doesn't change from country to country. These enthusiasts have the same passion that fans in England, the United States or Germany have for the Carrera. Take a look below at the full video, to see what the 911 enthusiasts of Taiwan love about their 911s.

Jack Olsen built a Porsche 911 to drive every day and conquer Willow Springs

Mon, Dec 15 2014

Almost two years ago we wrote about the 12-Gauge Garage Jack Olsen built to house his multifarious Porsche 911 - its 1972 bodywork hides four decades of Porsche parts, like the transaxle from a 1977 911 and the engine from 1995 911, for example. It weighs 2,400 pounds and has 272 horsepower, and Olsen uses it daily driving and for track days, the latter excursions featuring homemade, bolt-on aero parts. German magazine Auto Bild stopped by Olsen's house to look in on the Porsche called "Black Beauty II," and we get a few more details about the mods he's made, like swapping out for fiberglass body panels and welding Fuchs wheel centers to wider Corvette barrels so he could run different tires. Most importantly, though, Olsen divulges his passion for lowering his lap time at Willow Springs. Randy Pobst set the lap record for a production car around the 2.5-mile Big Willow track in a Porsche 918 Spyder at 1:23.54 during a Motor Trend test (the outright record, according to Willow Springs, is held by Michael Andretti at 1:06.050 in a CART car). Further down the list, Steve Millen drove a 415-hp 911 GT3 RS around the same track in 1:33.14 - a car 600 pounds heavier than Olsen's. Over the past 14 years of tinkering with his car, Olsen says his data shows his lap time is now down to 1:26.88, achieved on the day of filming the Auto Bild video. That time would put him in between the 1:26 flat posted by Dominik Farnbacher in a 608-hp Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR and the 1:28.93 put up by Pobst in a 400-hp, 991-series 911. You can hear Olsen tell it in his own words in the video.
