This is a 1986 944 turbo. This is a very fast 951. It needs its share of work. The car was traded to me for one of my cars. We drove it home from WV 230 miles and it ran well. First gear grinds at about 1500 RPM but doesn't make any noises in any of the other gears. I either start in second or quick shift if starting in 1st. The turbo spools up as it should and the car drives down the road as it should. The car has it's share of issues but does run and drive. It has some later model 18" 911 rims on it with some very thick spacers. The rears are 11" wide. When cornering hard the tires rub the wheel wells. If you don't want the rims and you have another set I will take $750 off of the final sale price. I do have some d90's I could put on as a swap. the interior isn't horrible but will need some cleaning. The dash is cracked as most are but it doesn have the dash cap. The seats show some wear but don't have cracks. The carpet looks good. The rear seat back top has the vinyl coming off. The drivers side in front of the rear wheel has a rust area (see pic). It does have an aftermarket front bumper cover that could use some aligning as it doesn't hit the front header panel very squarely. Right now I am chasing a high idle on it where it will race a bit after warming up. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. thanks

Roger Rodas' widow suing Porsche over Carrera GT crash

Tue, 13 May 2014

Investigations undertaken by local law enforcement may have vindicated Porsche from any wrongdoing in the crash that killed actor Paul Walker and racing driver Roger Rodas last year, but the latter's widow is apparently not convinced. According to emerging reports, Kristine Rodas has filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages from Porsche Cars North America.
In her suit filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, Rodas' attorney Mark Geragos reportedly disputes the findings of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which asserted that the vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed of 90 miles per hour on city streets, identifying the speed as the cause of the accident. Instead the lawsuit claims that the vehicle was only going 55 mph and that the cause of the crash was improper equipment - namely a faulty right rear suspension and the lack of a crash cage and proper fuel tank.

Jack Olsen built one Porsche to do it all

Wed, 23 Jan 2013

Jack Olsen has built himself a lair called the 12-Gauge Garage, and inside that garage he built a lairy Porsche 911 nicknamed Black Beauty II. Although it looks like one of Stuttgart's models from the sixties or seventies, it is actually four decades of 911 gubbins from 1965 to 2000 thrown under one shell: the lightweight body is from 1972, the transaxle from 1977, the brakes from a 1986 Turbo, the engine from 1995, for example. It weighs 2,400 pounds and it's got 272 horsepower to get it going, but it's still a pure Porsche, Olsen saying, "If you stop thinking about what you're doing, it will remind you in very abrupt ways."
Olsen said the real point has been to have one car that does it all, so he does everything in his 911 from neighborhood runs to 7-11 to track racing - he loads the aero bits in the car and bolts them on trackside. And he says he'll never stop tweaking the suspension.
You can watch and hear the rest in Olsen's words in the video below.

Porsche Supercup racer dies in crash in Australia

Tue, 15 Oct 2013

Even with great strides made towards increasing the safety of motor racing, fundamentally it's still a dangerous sport. And now it has claimed another life.
That life belonged to one Sean Edwards, an accomplished GT racing driver. Edwards was killed at Queensland Raceway in Australia, riding shotgun in a Porsche 996 GT3 while acting as instructor. The driver was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries. Sean Edwards was 26.
The son of former F1 driver Guy Edwards (whose car he drove in the filming of Rush), Sean won the European GT3 Championship in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and drove a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 to repeat victories at the 24 Hours of Dubai as well as this year's Nürburgring 24 Hours. Edwards had been competing in the Porsche Supercup, whose standings he currently leads with just two rounds to go, and could be crowned champion posthumously.
