1990 Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet Convertible Triple Black Excellent History on 2040-cars
Fallston, Maryland, United States
Up for Auction is a very nice 1990 Porsche S2 Cabriolet
Triple Black with 105,640 miles 3.0 liter 16 valve 4 cylinder, 5 speed ABS, Driver and Passenger Airbags Originally purchased at Len Stoler Porsche here in Baltimore in December of 1989. Traded in 2000 with 50,000 miles and resold at Valley Motors Porsche. I purchased the car from the second owner as a private sale in February of 2009 with 102,000 miles as a backup car for the family. I had a full service and review performed at that time and the car was deemed in excellent condition with no prior body damage. The front was repainted and disclosed by the dealer in 2000. The car was garage kept by both owners and I have extensive documentation on the car (which I am rummaging through files looking for.) The car passed the extensive Maryland inspection and emissions less than 4,000 miles ago in 2009. The timing belt was changed at 92,000 miles. I replaced all tires with Continentals in 2009 as well as a new top and replacement of the lower seat leather (getting stiff and stitching coming undone.) I have kept the car fully serviced and have had some minor electrical work done (fix fog lights and rewire stereo which previous aftermarket unit was drawing on the system.) Replaced the brakes in 2009. Car is serviced at least 2x a year by my mechanic and is only used in good weather. There is an Alpine head unit as shown in the pictures that has a USB input as well as Sirius receiver integrated and installed in the head unit. I replaced the windshield and repainted the front end after a branch fell and dented the passenger fender and cracked the windshield. All body panels are, to the best of my knowledge, original to the car. I did file an insurance claim at that time and will most likely show up in history. I have not checked to see. Work was done to a very high standard. Taken out of winter storage and driven 200 miles this past week. The car drives strong and has a solid clutch. Shifts very well. No leaks. I average 27-28 mpg in spirited driving Oil pressure is excellent and the temp gauge never passes the 1st quarter of the range. Air Conditioning works well Power top is fully functional and the original fitted boot is in the trunk. Cruise, Pwr Windows, Locks and Pwr Seat Height all work as they should. Dash has no cracks and Lloyd mats are in excellent condition. Only issues that I am aware of are the interior overhead light does not go on when the door is opened, the clock in the dash is broken (common problem), the struts for the trunk should be replaced as they are original and do not "pop up" when you press the electric release, which does work, however, the key works fine. There is some minor curb rash on the wheels and a couple of minor dings. This is a good driver quality car that has been very reliable and more practical than I every thought. My kids are now at an age where they don't fit in the back and would rather not be seen with Mom and Dad anyway so we are going to spend more time running my 280SL. If I could demand that a PPI inspection be done, I would, but I cannot. I do greatly encourage inspections. Please ask questions, I will do my best to get back to you. I will not answer questions about the reserve. Make me an offer if you like. Car is sold AS-IS WHERE-IS with no warranties expressed or implied. I am located a little north of Baltimore, MD. Shipping and pick up is the responsibility of buyer but I will do my very best to accommodate you. Deposit of $500 is due with in 24 hours of auction end. Balance my be received before title and car are released. Thanks for looking! |

Porsche tops JD Power APEAL study for 12th time
Wed, Jul 27 2016JD Power's 2016 Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) study hasn't changed much this time around with Porsche coming in at No.1 for the 12th consecutive year, while BMW was close behind in second. Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz tied for third with Land Rover, Lexus, and Lincoln tied for No.5. The APEAL Study, according to JD Power, measures owners' level of excitement and emotional attachment across 77 parameters. Brands and cars are rated on a 1,000-point scale. The study found that new cars with modern safety features including low speed collision avoidance and blind spot monitoring have higher APEAL scores than vehicles without the features. The overall industry score increased from 798 to 801, which JD Power claims was helped by the launch of a variety of new vehicles. This year, 22 out of 30 new or redesigned cars received a higher score than the vehicle's respective segment average. Porsche is once again at the top of the list as the automaker's score increased by three points to 877. BMW outscored Jaguar to take second place with a score of 859, while the British automaker dropped three points from last year with 852 points. Volkswagen overtook Mini to become the top-ranked non-premium brand with 809 points, while the latter automaker trailed behind by one point. At the end of the scale, Smart came in at the very bottom for the second year in a row with a score of 745 points, which represents an increase of 62 points over last year. Fiat's score increased by six points to 755, but still confined the automaker to second-to-worst place for a consecutive year. Mitsubishi's score increased to 770, up from 755, to become the fourth-worst brand, while Jeep fell to third-worst with a decrease in seven points to 756. General Motors received six segment-level awards, followed by Hyundai with five, and BMW and VW earning four apiece. Surprise segment victories include the Chevrolet Camaro, which outscored the Dodge Challenger, and the Lexus RC which ranked above the BMW 4 and 3 Series. For more information on how the automakers ranked, check out the official release on the 2016 APEAL Study below or visit JD Power's website to analyze the graphs. Porsche releases special edition 911 GTS Club Coupe
Wed, Jan 21 2015Porsche is never afraid to add one more variant of the 911 to the lineup, but its latest inclusion to the range is being kept extra limited, to keep things super special. The automaker is building just 60 examples of the 911 GTS Club Coupe, and only members of the Porsche Club of America can order them. The organization fittingly celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. Prices for 59 of the cars start at $136,060, plus $995 destination, with deliveries in June, and club members can win the last car (the showcar) as a prize. Mechanically, these vehicles take the 430-horsepower engine, wider body and rest of the updates from the regular 911 GTS, but all of these come in a unique color called Club Blau. The cobalt shade gets set off with black frames around the bi-xenon headlights, tinted taillights and black chrome exhaust outlets. The limited coupes also get a vintage-inspired ducktail rear spoiler and 20-inch Sport Classic wheels in a mix of semi-gloss black and polished metal that evoke the look of the classic Fuchs wheels on older 911s. For added contrast inside, the seat stitching, seat belts and tachometer are offset in red. Plus, the trim for the dashboard, doors and center console features carbon fiber. Capping things off, a plaque reading "GTS Club Coupe 60 Years Porsche Club of America" is near the glovebox. Being a Porsche, there are still options on these special models. The Extended Club Coupe Package goes so far as to include the key painted in Club Blau and adds leather-edged floormats. A custom car cover is also available. Check out the gallery to pick out all of the stylish tweaks for these celebratory 911s. GTS CLUB COUPE REVEALED IN THE NEW PCNA HEADQUARTERS AT ONE PORSCHE DRIVE Porsche celebrates 60th anniversary of Porsche Club of America with limited-edition 911 model Atlanta. Celebrating six decades of the largest Porsche club organization in the world, Porsche Cars North America is commemorating this milestone with a 60 unit limited-production run of the Club Coupe based on the 911 Carrera GTS. Known as the GTS Club Coupe, the 430 hp sports car is painted in a color unique to this model appropriately named "Club Blau," which was created exclusively for this anniversary edition by the Porsche Club of America.
2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed statue unveiled
Thu, 11 Jul 2013Each year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a single marque is celebrated with a large and ornate "Central Feature" sculpture, with recent automakers including Audi in 2009, Alfa Romeo in 2010, Jaguar in 2011 and Lotus last year. This year, Porsche gets the honor, and it is using the opportunity to commemorate 50 years of the 911.
The sculpture features three generations of the 911 towering over the Goodwood House. The most recent 991 911 has the lowest position, with an original 1963 car second highest and a 1973 2.7 RS at the top of the pile. Be sure to check out the sculpture for yourself in the gallery of images above.
