1989 Porsche 944 2.7 naturally aspirated 8 valve.
California car all its life. No rust. This car came as a package deal that I did not want or need. After doing a bit of researching online, I found that these 2.7 cylinderheads run $1000(used) to $2000(rebuild). I am hoping to find a buyer who will see some value in this car for what it is. Here's a link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PORSCHE-944-2-7L-REBUILT-CYLINDER-HEAD-FOR-3-0L-951-OR-968-TURBO-ENGINES-NICE-/291069341307?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43c515ae7b&vxp=mtr&nma=true&si=grRq00zEObt5P9sO1bp6JzIRyFc%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 The good: - Engine starts right up and runs great. No smoke, no abnormal noises. - 155k miles - at 135,195miles, $2300 in receipt spent on full timing belt/waterpump/ hoses/seals/ motor mounts/all belts, etc.... - oil pan gasket replaced - Spakplugs, fuel filter replaced - Autoauthority ECU chip - Oil cooler resealed and coolant flushed at 140k miles $664 - New control arm, serviced and alignment done at 147k miles $970 - Useable tires - Previous owner - All registration fees paid for and are current. - Has DMV moving permit - Clean title The Bad: - Clutch went out. Diagnosed as failed release bearing(noisy when the clutch pedal is not pressed). Clutch pedal goes to the floor without disengaging the clutch - Guards red exterior: paint faded on the roof and has a dent on passenger front fender. Rest of the paint would buff out nicely. - Full black leather interior. Passenger seat stitching starting to come apart. - needs to be towed Would like to get $1500 for it. If it doesn't get there or if you are interested in purchasing outside of ebay, call or txt me 510-717-3003 |

'Ring Queen Sabine Schmitz battles Ron Simons in Porsche vs Ferrari scrap
Tue, 04 Jun 2013We hope you have seven minutes to kill. RSR Nürburgring recently took the time to pit Sabine Schmitz and her slightly modified Porsche 911 GT3 RS against Ron Simons and his Ferrari 458 Italia in a sparring match around the infamous Green Hell. The clip begins with the two drivers engaging in a smidgeon of smack talk before the two get down to the business of beating each other's doors off around one of the most challenging courses in the world. Simons calls his car superior to Schmitz's 911, while Schmitz says she's up against nothing more than a Fiat driven by an old Dutch man.
Don't hold any punches, you two.
We won't spoil the finale for you, but we will say the tango is worth watching. At the end, the loser calls for a rematch. We can't wait to see that throwdown. Check out the clip below for yourself.
Porsche, Hyundai invest in WayRay augmented reality for road and track
Wed, Sep 19 2018A number of incipient future technologies such as solid state batteries, Level 5 autonomy, and augmented reality simply await the breakthrough moments that will enable mass-market scalability. The last one of those took another step closer to its breakthrough with news of Porsche leading an $80 million Series C investment round for six-year-old Switzerland-based AR startup WayRay. The German carmaker was joined in the augmented reality play by Hyundai, JVCKENWOOD, China Merchants Capital, a group of sovereign wealth funds, and Alibaba Group, a previous investor. Porsche tied up with WayRay earlier this year on an AR project during Startup Autobahn, a European initiative devoted to automotive innovation. Sounds like the cooperation proved fruitful, with Porsche saying, "Their innovative ideas and products have great potential. We are convinced that on this basis we'll be able to offer our clients customized Porsche solutions," and putting its money where its windshield is. Blue chips have apparently backed the company because its AR solution is better than others out there, being smaller than competitor units, adaptable to any make and model, and usable over a much wider field of view, easing the strain on a driver's eyes. Hyundai said it wants to use the technology in its cars, and for applications beyond vehicles like an entire AR ecosystem incorporating smart buildings and smart cities. On the mundane safety side, the AR system could highlight crosswalks, warning signs, parking spots, construction zones, and provide more precise navigation directions all within the driver's natural line-of-sight. Porsche, unsurprisingly, is thinking about the performance aspects and widening the suite of digital services it can offer to customers. A short video and a series of graphics showed how a potential WayRay system could enhance the driving experience, especially on track. The Porsche driver not only gets an image of the ideal driving line laid down ahead of him, he could get prompts for braking and turning, a "ghost" car acting as rabbit to show him where he gains and loses time, lap times, track position, and more. As much as this kind of feature makes sense for the Porsche brand and the new Cayman GT4 owner working to hook up his personal best at his local track, WayRay's possibilities seem like an even better boon for hypercar buyers.
Ferrari 458 Speciale vs Porsche 911 GT3 shows what Chris Harris does best
Thu, Nov 27 2014After a brief trip behind a pay wall, British auto journalist Chris Harris is back posting videos for free online, and shorts like this one are the perfect example of why his return is so welcome. Showing up at the damp Anglesey Circuit on the Welsh coast with the Ferrari 458 Speciale and Porsche 911 GT3, Harris ostensibly aims to find the better model. However, the final result really succeeds in showcasing the fun to be had behind the wheels of both supercars, particularly when initiating huge slides around the track. As Harris presents it, the vehicles get through the circuit in somewhat different ways The Ferrari is brash and "feels alive," as he puts it as it screams around the track. Alternatively, the Porsche is a bit more restrained, while still being able to show some emotion. In the end, it comes down to trying to get a controlled lap around Anglesey from this duo, but it's pretty clear that the times don't tell the whole story. If you're in the mood to watch two of the world's premiere supercars wag their tails in the wet, then this video cannot be missed.
