I purchased this car in Dec last year for my wife.  She passed away in January never getting to drive the car.  I have driven it from Arkansas (where I bought it) to Stuart, Florida and to Sarasota, Florida where it resides now.  I drive it daily around town to work and back.  It is a great car and very nimble.

The reason I purchased the car was due to the fact that it was doctor owned and had been for some 6 years.  He had had the engine rebuilt in 2011 and basically replaced almost everything including Porsche motor mounts and then only put another 3000 miles on it.  It was still breaking in when I drove it down to FLA.   Not being a mechanic I wanted to make sure the car was going to be reliable.  Because everything that seems to be a problem with the 1987 Porsche 944 S had been replaced or repaired it was a no brainer.  Even the AC compressor is new with the new type of 134A refrigerant oil. The transmission works great and was not worked on.  the shocks and struts are about 4 years old.  I was impressed how smooth it drove on the highway.  The tires look great and have lots of tread.  The car drives great and was a pleasure to drive down from Arkansas to Florida.  It had a sweet spot at 92 mph.  The car starts right up every time when cold.  It goes right to 900 RPM and the oil pressure starts off at 5 dropping gradually.  I have included picks of the dash at cold startup and then when warm.   The car had 151, 100 miles when I picked it up and had the engine rebuilt at 148000 miles. The odometer stopped working about 800 miles into the trip at 151, 935 where it reads now.  When you push the trip reset button it moves but doesn't catch.  I haven't gotten under there yet to look to see if something came loose but I will.
The inside looks very nice.  There is one crack at the top of the dash up and behind the steering wheel.  It is hard to see unless you look down through the windshield.  There are little cracks at the defroster vents but again not easy to see unless you are looking for them.  Everything works well including the interior cabin light.  The seller had nice seat covers on the front seats and I have left them.  There is  fraying on the driver side seat where you hit it when you get in but it would be very easy to sew it up.  The seats are the cloth which say Porsche Porsche Porsche on the diagonal.   The driver's seat has electric controls on the left side for height and other adjustments. The rear seats are in good shape.  The dash and center console are in good shape.  The doors are in good shape.  Both windows work well up and down.  The right mirror does not work with the switch but the left one does.  Headlights pop up nicely and work as designed.  The paint looks to original and has been waxed and buffed.  It is not flawless but overall great for a 26 year old car.  There are some dings and scratches that would come out pretty easily.  The sun roof can be raised in the back electronically or taken completely out.  It does not slide back into the roof like many other cars.
There is a crack in the front windshield but I have a new windshield to replace it.   The catalytic converter has gone and rattles but I have a new Cat. converter to replace it.  I have other odds and ends as well that will go with the car.  If you are interested contact me so I can call you and go over everything with you.
As the car is being sold as is please arrange to have it looked at prior to bidding or come and drive the car yourself.  I am driving it daily so I can meet you within a reasonable distance.  This is a great car and lots of fun to drive.  There is lots more specific info so if you have a serious interest lets talk.

Porsche employees take pay cuts so they can build Mission E

Wed, Dec 30 2015

Porsche's 13,000 workers in Zuffenhausen, Germany, agreed to work more and at adjusted wages to ensure that the factory can build the production version the Mission E electric performance sedan. Their sacrifices could save the German sports car maker several hundred million euros, according to Reuters. The Zuffenhausen site was possibly in danger of losing the Mission E because workers there receive higher wages than Porsche's other factories. The specific savings from these concessions reportedly include increasing the workweek by one hour to 35 hours and eliminating portions of pay increases between 2016 and 2025. Porsche didn't officially confirm the precise cuts, but a spokesperson told Reuters: "Employer and employees have jointly drawn up measures that have led to the decision of producing the Mission E model at Zuffenhausen." Porsche plans to invest about $768 million into the Zuffenhausen factory over the coming years. That money will help create over 1,000 new jobs and will build a new paint shop, assembly plant, and upgrade the engine factory to produce electric motors. The expansion will also allow the company to move all production of the Cayman and Boxster to Zuffenhausen by August 2016 rather than the current strategy of outsourcing some of the models' assembly to Osnabruck, Germany. The Mission E should enter production by 2020, and Porsche Executive Board Chairman Dr. Oliver Blume promises it to be the "most sophisticated model in this market segment." The concept at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show offered a glimpse at the next-gen technology by presenting a swoopy EV sport sedan with all-wheel drive and a total of 590 horsepower from two electric motors. Porsche claimed the concept could reach 62 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds and go nearly 311 miles on the European testing cycle.

10 most memorable cars and SUVs of 2019

Tue, Dec 24 2019

It's no surprise that a car reviewer will drive a large number of cars over the course of a year. Indeed, when the clock strikes midnight on Dec 31, I will have driven 75 new cars, trucks and SUV this year (and one old Peugeot) over the course of weekly evaluation loans and first drive events. That sure seems like a lot. Some definitely got more attention than others, and some came and went without leaving much of an impression – I completely forgot I drove a Kia Forte. Yet in the spirit of this day, I thought I'd pick the 10 that I would love to see under the Christmas tree tomorrow morning. You know, just in case you were looking to get me something. I'll also throw in a couple disappointments that were memorable for the wrong reasons. They'd get sent back to the store on Boxing Day. Lexus LC 500 Pictured below and resplendent in its Flare Yellow metallic paint, the car that would reach highest on my list is the divine Lexus LC 500. As a devout lover of GT cars, the LC ticks all the boxes. Muscular and characterful engine? V8, check. Beautifully made and memorable interior? It's gorgeous, to hell with Remote Touch. Check. Comfortable and reasonably practical? Superb seats and, uh, yeah. Makes me want to stand there and stare at it? You bet. Though I long figured my heart would say LC but my head "Porsche 911," after this go-around, that's no longer the case. LC, pretty please. 2020-lexus-lc500-f34-2 View 19 Photos Polestar 1 I actually feel lucky that I got to drive the Polestar 1. Only 150 will be produced each year, and it's a far more special thing than it would initially appear. And that's despite initially appearing to be a beautiful, classic two-door GT car with a roof so rakish it's only possible because it's made of carbon fiber. That itÂ’s a massively powerful plug-in hybrid with more all-electric range than any other PHEV is a thick dollop of whipped cream on a slice of Toscakaka. You know, Swedish dessert, Swedish car. Fine, I'll stick to Ikea references.  Polestar1_Launch_SanFrancisco-0014 View 44 Photos Volvo V60 Cross Country Speaking of Sweden, did I drive this car off the road there? Sure did! And despite this, the V60 Cross Country scratches that certain wagon itch and looks sensational to boot. I wish it were available with the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain, but it's best not to get greedy at Christmas.

2017 Porsche Panamera spotted barely disguised

Thu, Oct 29 2015

Porsche is hard at work bringing the next generation of its Panamera to market. Its arrival will succeed a model that's been for sale now for over six years now (since 2009), having undergone a mid-cycle facelift as recently as 2013. What we have here in front of us could be our best look yet at the upcoming replacement model. Spied while testing in its native Germany, this barely disguised prototype looks just about ready to reach showrooms. Only a few select parts – namely around the lights (front and rear) and the rear side windows – appear to still be wearing any camouflage at all. So save for those few details, some additional brightwork here and there, and a proper polishing to give it that Porsche shine, expect the 2017 Panamera to look pretty much like the one you see here. It still looks very much like a Porsche, and very much like a Panamera, but thankfully softens the curve of the current model's controversial roofline. Like the outgoing model, the upcoming iteration of Zuffenhausen's four-door coupe/sedan is expected to carry a wide array of powertrain options, including gasoline engines, diesels, turbos, and hybrids. Just which one this particular example is carrying we don't know. But one way or another, buyers can expect improvements in both performance and efficiency once this new model comes around sometime early next year. We won't be surprised, then, to see it find its way onto the stage at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show next March, so watch this space. Related Video:
