1977 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera on 2040-cars
Bozeman, Montana, United States
You are bidding on a 1977 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera Coupe. This car is a well cared for, great running 930 that I have owned for 20 years. It has been driven by mature owners to many PCA events and local car related activities. It won a Second place Best in Show award last year in a car show with 275 entries. The original factory installed options, exterior/interior color, and VIN match according to the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The factory optional equipment includes: 49 State Emissions, Limited Slip Differential, and Electric Sunroof. The exterior paint color is Black(A1A1). The interior color is Cork(88). The 930 currently has professionally painted and polished Fuch alloys. Aside from routine service work, we did a few sensible performance upgrades including Carrera Chain Tensioners, Adjustable Boost (although it has mainly been set at the factory 0.8 bar setting), short shift kit, 3" twin pipe B&B sport muffler, B&B header/heat exchangers, higher flow air filter, new front struts, new clutch/pressure plate, and a K27 turbo charger. The most recent tune up was about 2000 miles ago and included plugs, engine/transmission fluid changes, adjust valves, adjust front wheel bearings, flush brake fluid/bleed brakes, and install new sunroof cables. The car currently has just over 70000 miles on it - we bought it with 49000 miles on it. Please email me with any questions. All mechanical inspections or questions must be addressed prior to bidding. The 930 is sold "as is" without a warranty expressed or implied. Buyer must arrange shipping and pay for all shipping costs. $500.00 PayPal Deposit is due within 3 days after close of auction. Remainder is due within 7 days. Will accept Bank Cashiers Check or wired funds - full payment must clear our Bank before car can be picked up and Title is transferred. |

2013 Porsche 911 RSR makes official debut
Mon, 01 Apr 2013Porsche is ready to go racing in 2013, showing off a new 911 RSR today that is scheduled to compete in several endurance events this year. Based on the current 991 911, the new RSR will compete in the 2013 season of the World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It will not, however, make an appearance in a North American racing series this year.
The 2013 version of the racecar has increased in wheelbase by some four inches, features a new wishbone front suspension in place of the last-generation's McPherson strut setup and boasts a new, lightweight six-speed racing gearbox. The engine, meanwhile, is an "optimized" version of last year's car, a 460-horsepower 4.0-liter boxer six-cylinder. Extensive use of carbon fiber and polycarbonate windows help the RSR shed weight, and Porsche has also balanced the weight more evenly with a lower center of gravity.
Porsche has thoughtfully dedicated some space to celebrate the 911's 50th Anniversary, with the number 50 clearly visible in the top-down view of the RSR, as well as along the doors. Scroll down to read the full Porsche press release, below.
Porsche finally moving ahead with flat four engine
Sun, 23 Mar 2014When Porsche released the first Boxster in 1996 and the first Cayman in 2005, the idea was to create an entry-level model for the German automaker's sports car range. The latest iterations of both closely related models, however, have begun to encroach dangerously on the 911's territory, particularly in their newest GTS specifications. That could be about to change, however, with the introduction of a four-cylinder engine for the compact mid-engined coupe and roadster.
According to Automotive News, Porsche is finally preparing to launch a new boxer four engine in the Boxster and Cayman, following years of speculation. The engine would be based on the same architecture as the company's famous flat six, but with two fewer cylinders to cut weight. Don't expect it to cut much in the way of performance, however: Porsche chief Matthias Muller indicates that the new engine could produce as much as 395 horsepower - significantly more than even the 340hp flat six in the Cayman GTS, suggesting that the engine could even find its way into the 911 as well.
It's no more clear which markets would get the four-cylinder engine, either. But wherever it is offered and in whichever form, it wouldn't be the first time we'd see a Porsche with a four-pot engine. Not by a long shot. Both the classic 912 and 356 were powered by boxer fours, as was the 914 - not to mention the 718 pictured above and the iconic 550 Spyder. The front-engined 924, 944 and 968 packed inline-four engines, but the last of those were discontinued in the 1990s. The prospect of a four-cylinder Boxster/Cayman has been rumored for many years now, most recently joined by the possibility of a four-pot Macan as well.
2015 Porsche Cayenne S
Tue, 23 Sep 2014Oh, Porsche.
Just as the dust settles over the 911 GT3's no manual gearbox kerfuffle, the Germans have gone and yanked the yummy naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V8 from the Cayenne S and replaced it with a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6. Is nothing sacred in Porscheland?
Perhaps not... but that's not necessarily a bad thing. After all, Porsche famously once said they'd never build a diesel, but when they did, it was actually rather stellar.
