Due to last two buyers who never paid, and didn't answer correspondence after having their offer accepted, I will only consider accepting an offer if you contact me first. Thank you. Relisted due to time waster (calfcanyon) who had their offer accepted by me and then didn't pay! Relisted due to timewaster (bwcollier5871) who had their offer accepted by me and then didn't pay! The 1989 Porsche 928 S4 was amazingly technologically advanced for its day. Aluminum body panels, weissach rear axle (passive 4-wheel steering), climate control, central warning panel, digital dash with trip computer, etc. It sold for $75,000 in 1989. Now, 25 years later, I still enjoy the way it handles and holds its own. I had always wanted one of these since I was a kid, so when the opportunity arose I bought one. I drove it to work every day and maintained and improved it regardless of cost. It has always brought a smile to my face. Now it's time to move on. Owned by me and driven on highway journeys daily (the last 55,000 miles) since September 2009. Always maintained by Porsche specialist
(Carls Place, Las Vegas) who I can't recommend highly enough - they know this car inside and out. Comprehensive receipts for more than $26,000 in last
4 years - Yes, $26,000! (it made my eyes water when I added it up...) The genuine Porsche 18 wheels (Carrera III) alone retail for $3,500 if you can find them (I still have the original wheels with tires (one with a nail in it) which are included as part of the sale). New rear tires, new battery, recent timing belt (Gates racing belt), Tensioner (Porkensioner), Engine Guardian Water Pump Drive System, PKlamp, silicone vacuum lines, spark plugs, leads, coils, distributor caps, air pump, 928 Motorsports aluminium radiator, 928 Motorsports twin electric fan upgrade, coolant change, thermostat. Air conditioning blows coolish (could probably use a charge for the summer), power memory seats + mirror. Jager Engineering shifter and surround, Bluetooth hands-free stereo, 4-channel amp, upgraded speakers and crossovers (MB Quart included, but not all fitted yet). Very good quality ceramic tint, custom exhaust.Reason for sale - I've loved using this as my daily driver for 4 years, but now I have a family and a large dog who just don't understand why I need such a selfish car. So I have bought a 2002 Audi S6 wagon (very nice!) which has replaced this Porsche as my daily driver and doubles as a family/dog-friendly transport. The Porsche has just sat in the garage since, except for a monthly blow through and drive. This is your chance to own a good 928 that has been thoroughly cared for, regularly driven, never abused, and enthusiastically upgraded. Please don't buy one that's been in storage or is much cheaper but has no maintenance history. You'll probably regret it. Don't be put off by the mileage - 154k over 25 years is less than 7k miles per year. I had the block checked with a leakdown test recently and I was told that it was still within factory tolerances for a new engine. Experian Autocheck - Accident - You will see an accident recorded in June 2009. It was BEFORE I bought the car so I was very particular about checking it out before I parted with my money. The accident was a VERY slow speed rear end so required only a rear bumper repair, including paint and trimmings. The body shop bill was for $1705 (I have a copy of the receipt which lists the parts and labor). The previous owner was a detective in Seattle, Wa. Condition is good, but this is not a concours or show car (although I have taken it to some Porsche 928 meetings, and occasionally to Cars and Coffee Las Vegas on a Saturday morning where it gets a lot of interest, even amongst Lambos, Ferraris and classic muscle cars, corvettes etc.). I have spent lots of money willingly to keep the mechanicals in good reliable order as I am in the military and not showing up at work due to car trouble is a no no. I have upgraded many components to more modern standards where possible. If you want extra photos of anything in particular, let me know. I have also digitized the history documentation, so I can supply that too. There are some nicely touched up spots on the doors (quarter dollar sized), just below the mirrors, apparently this is quite common. Also, see photos for rear headlining distortion behind passenger seat - it was like that when I bought it. I never tried steaming it to bend it back. I have also included a photo of the front left wheel well liner which is cracked. I just noticed that today when taking new photos. This car is sold AS IS, no warranty given or implied. However, I hope it goes to a good home, as I get great satisfaction from having preserved and improved one of the great cars to pass on to another enthusiast who should get many years of walking out to a car that will make him or her smile. New battery fitted. Two new rear tires fitted. Update April 12, 2014: New photos taken inside and out. |

Harry Metcalfe shows off his GT2-inspired Porsche 993 Turbo
Sat, Nov 14 2015There have been many versions of the Porsche 911, and the GT2 is among the greats. The hardcore variant of the iconic sports car packs the twin turbochargers from the 911 Turbo, but strips out the creature comforts and all-wheel drive. The 993 was the first generation to get the GT2 treatment, and that's just what Harry Metcalfe appears to have here. Only it isn't actually a GT2. This member of Harry's Garage is a 993 911 Turbo made to look like a GT2. That means it still has the all-wheel drive system from the Turbo model. And it also means that Harry didn't have to pay anywhere near as much as you would for a factory GT2, even on the used market. The founding editor of Evo traded in his 930 the first 911 to go Turbo Β and got this one instead. It may not be as original as his immaculate old 930, but as you can see from the video above, that doesn't make it any less of a thrill to drive. If anything, just the opposite. Related Video:
Porsche updates 919 Hybrid LMP1 for 2015 assault [w/video]
Fri, Mar 27 2015Last season, Porsche returned to the top level of endurance racing with the 919 Hybrid, picking up a mantle that has seen the German marque win the 24 Hours of Le Mans a record sixteen times more than any other manufacturer ever to compete at the legendary French race. Of course, Porsche didn't beat its sister company Audi right out of the box, but managed to win the last race in the FIA World Endurance Championship in Brazil before the season was done. This year it undoubtedly hopes to do even better, and this is the machine with which it will endeavor to take the top honors. Newly revised and optimized for the 2015 season, the new 919 Hybrid was just revealed on the eve of the first test session of the season at the Paul Ricard test track in the South of France. It may look largely the same as the model it succeeds, but benefits from numerous advancements made to help Porsche catch up with Audi and Toyota. For starters, Zuffenhausen has opted to step up to the eight-megajoule category, favoring the electric side of its hybrid powertrain over the internal combustion engine. So the compact 2.0-liter turbocharged V4 now drives in excess of 500 horsepower to the rear wheels, and the electric motor Β powered by two energy recovery systems and a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery Β kicks in upwards of 400 hp to the front wheels. The rest of the package has been comprehensively updated as well, giving it a lower weight, improved rigidity, revised suspension and reshaped aerodynamic elements. Porsche will field two cars at most of the races this season, but will increase its team to three cars for certain races Β one in black, one in white and one in red. Following the "prologue" test session at Paul Ricard this weekend, the season kicks off with the 6 Hours of Silverstone on April 12, when the new Porsche 919 Hybrid will take on the similarly revised Audi R18 E-Tron Quattro and Toyota TS040 Hybrid for the first time in earnest. Porsche also confirmed it will switch to the highest of the four energy categories in the LMP1 class.
2016 Porsche 911 Carrera is all turbo, all the time [w/video]
Tue, Sep 15 2015There's always a lot of fanfare around a new version of the iconic Porsche 911. But for 2016, there's a huge reason to take notice. Porsche is turbocharging the full 911 range, introducing a new, 3.0-liter flat-six that will serve as the base engine in the Carrera and Carrera S. Purists may scoff, but there's proof in the pudding that this is a good move for the 911 range. Base Carreras will produce 370 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque, while the Carrera S ups those numbers to 420 and 368, respectively. Porsche says the new 911 Carrera models are much faster than before, reportedly clocking a 7:30 lap time on the infamous Nurburgring. The Carrera tops out at 183 miles per hour, and the S will do 191. A seven-speed manual transmission comes standard, and Porsche's excellent PDK dual-clutch gearbox can be had, as well. The new 911 will arrive Stateside next March, priced from $89,400 for the Carrera and $103,400 for the S. Cabriolet models will sticker for $101,700 to $115,700. The press release below has more information. The sports car legend enhanced: the new Porsche 911 Carrera New turbocharged engines, an advanced chassis, and new Porsche Communication Management Atlanta, Georgia. Celebrating its debut at the Frankfurt International Auto Show, the new 911 Carrera is taking performance and everyday usability to new heights. Innovative flat-six engines derived from four decades of turbocharging used in racing and on road cars not only make this the fastest 911 Carrera ever, but also provide abundant torque for superior passing power. An advanced chassis offering an even more sophisticated combination of ride comfort and performance characterizes the handling of the new 911. For the first time, rear-axle steering is available as an option for the Carrera S, significantly enhancing its already superb agility. These improvements reduce the lap time on the North Loop of the Nurburgring to just 7 minutes and 30 seconds, making it 10 seconds faster than the previous Carrera S. Many exterior features of the 911 Carrera have been visually refined from new headlights with four-point daytime running lights to integrated door handle recesses, a redesigned rear deck lid with vertical louvers, and new rear lights including the characteristic four-point brake lights. The new standard Porsche Communication Management system with a multi-touch display offers an expanded range of functions and simplified usability.
