This 1970 Porsche 914 was a 'barn find' and had been stored in a garage for 7 + years when I found it in 2004. It was not totally original and the only history I have on it is that it belonged to a Naval Officer in Sand Diego. It was his daily driver from the late 80's to late 90's.

It was given to, and put back on the road by my father, until he gave it back to me 5 years ago. After that, the 1.7 was upgraded to a 2.0 with dual Webber 44 carbs. Approx mileage is 40k on the motor and trans. Odometer shows a little over 88,000.

In the past year:

It was painted from a dark maroon to Porsche 914 color, Willow Green. (The original color was Canary Yellow). The paint is in good shape, with normal pits in the hood from highway driving but looks really sharp and turns heads. One small crack on driver's fender. There was bondo there from someone shaving side lights, but all was removed when painted, but a crack appeared in that spot. This in fact was the only bondo found on car when painted.

•New carpet on interior, and both trunks. New front struts and aftermarket rear trunk lid struts for easier opening.
•Top is in good shape with no mechanical issues with the latches.
No rust to speak of. The battery tray was rusted and replaced, but no 'hell hole' issues. All other surface rust was eliminated when painted.
•Tires have approx. 70% tread. 195/ 60 on front, 205/60 on rear.
•Riviera wheels in great condition.
•Normal dash cracks. I have a plastic cover on the dash.
•Some work done by German Dreams in Bakersfield, CA.
•Kenwood AM/FM stereo with single CD player. One stock speaker could use replacing. 2 speakers in door panels, 4 total.
•After market muffler, which produces a louder sounding car. Small hole in rear valance.
•Interior is not original. Seats are in great shape, no tears. Some small tears in door panels and backing, nothing major. Overall a 8.5/10

This car is a driver, not a concour car, but a nice car that I have been proud to show.

It was pictured in the Sept 2013 Porsche Panorama magazine as the feature car for the Cal Inland PCA Concour from last spring.

It has been driven in many autocross events, and performs well. I am selling it because I picked up another project car, and can't keep both. I do not hesitate to drive this car anywhere.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS looks wicked, this way comes

Thu, Dec 11 2014

Those who didn't think Porsche went extreme enough with the latest 911 GT3 likely won't be disappointed when the more focused GT3 RS arrives. And as you can see from these latest spy shots, it looks like it's speeding right around the corner. Tipped to debut at the Geneva Motor Show this coming March, the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS is shaping up to be an enthusiast's dream - and with the prospect of a GT2 in doubt, could be the most hardcore Elfen in the range. Instead of the 3.8-liter flat-six in the current GT3, the new RS will pick up where the previous limited-edition GT3 RS 4.0 left off, with four naturally aspirated liters of unadulterated boxer power channeling a good 520 horses to the rear wheels. That will be a significant increase over the existing 475-hp GT3 and will match the 911 Turbo for output (if not the 560-hp Turbo S) and without any turbo lag to slow down the action, either. Whether it will keep the GT3's dual-clutch gearbox and four-wheel steering system, or ditch one or both for a more analog approach, remains to be seen, but we're holding out hope. Either way, the modifications to the bodywork ought to make the GT3 RS stand out even further and stay glued to the race track it will call home. Notice the deep front splitter scooping up snowflakes like a shovel, a massive rear wing (which may or may not be the final production version), the Turbo-spec rear end with air intakes ahead of the rear wheels, and a set of awesome-looking gills over the front wheels – all of which you can scope out in the gallery full of spy shots above.

2015 Porsche 911 GTS starts at $114,200*

Wed, 08 Oct 2014

Purists often criticize Porsche for creating products like the Cayenne, Panamera and recently launched Macan, saying they dilute the true sports car spirit of the brand. It's an argument we've heard before, and one we counter with two points. First: No they don't. And second: These are Porsche's volume superstars, and the money they rake in allows the company to create dozens of versions of its well-liked sports cars. Want proof? Have a look at the gallery above, where you'll see four new versions of the 911, all with GTS badges on their rumps. This means Porsche now offers 19 versions of the 911. Nineteen.
Porsche offered a GTS version of the 911 in its previous generation, and this new one seeks to slot somewhere between the standard car and the hardcore GT3. It's available in coupe and cabriolet forms, with either rear- or all-wheel drive, starting at $114,200, *not including $995 for destination. The GTS Cabriolet comes in at $126,100, while models equipped with AWD will set you back $120,900 or $132,800 for the coupe or convertible, respectively.
All GTS models get the 430-horsepower version of the Carrera S' 3.8-liter flat-six with the Powerkit, which also includes the Sport Chrono package and the sport exhaust. If equipped with the PDK dual-clutch transmission, the 911 GTS will hit 60 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds (or four seconds flat, if you've got the Cabriolet) - one tenth of a second quicker than the normal Carrera S. The car's top speed varies, depending on trim or transmission, but Porsche says the car will hit anywhere from 187 to 190 mph, flat out.
