It's not very often you find a six as honest, as this one. Then you factor in a one owner, low mile, no stories car, with original paperwork and documents and it becomes one of the elite few. This is not a restored car, but a car that has been looked after by one person since 1970. I have known Mark for a long time now, and this is his baby, I myself have been very active in the 914 circles for a very long time, and I know these cars well. This is a very solid six that can be either enjoyed and driven right now, or if so desired restored and taken to a Concours show car level. I have taken over 100 detailed photographs of all the important and not so important areas, please allow time for them to load. It does have some custom interior work, but the original parts were retained should the new owner desire to return it to 100% stock condition. It was painted in the 80's and was a amateur job, there is overspray and flatness to the paint. The good news is that the car is/was always super solid as the pictures will show. Hell hole is very nice and so are the longs and jack points. I saw no evidence of cancerous rust. It retains all it's original sheet metal and other than a minor parking lot ding the owner fixed back in the day it's never been hit. The motor has been rebuilt from the crank up in 88 by Mark, he said he couldn't take the oil leaks anymore, it is still a 2.0. It does have a few drips now, but it runs out real nice. The trans is also tight and shifts nice (for a tail shifter) and had a short shift kit installed. Please take time to study the pictures, and feel free to contact me with any questions. Despite premium carmakers going downmarket, luxury auto sales stick at 10-11%

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

According to research conducted by global information company IHS Automotive, the leporine birthing of new models by luxury manufacturers over the past six years hasn't increased their market share in the US. Even as car sales reached 15.6 million units, IHS says what's happened instead is that luxury buyers are merely moving from one brand to another, moving from larger luxury vehicles into hot segments like compact luxury crossovers or leaving the market at the same rate as other buyers enter.
Whether broken out by makes or by segment, market share has rollercoastered inside a narrow band from 10.5 to 11.5 percent since "at least" 2008. Closer investigation reveals the shifting boundaries in the aspirational pond, with brands like Mercedes-Benz and Audi gaining territory as Lexus and Lincoln lost it, and Saab and Hummer were buried, dead, under it. One neat note is that Tesla has gone from a share of zip to .12 percent.
The subcompact and compact crossover segments show growth, with those little high-riders jumping from .3 percent to 1.16 percent of overall industry sales. Their rise, though, is concomitant with the decline of four other segments: compact and midsize cars and fullsize cars and SUVs. We think the next few years that will tell if the small-car expansion can overcome the large-car retraction, with a phalanx of smaller offerings like the CLA only recently hitting the market and others like the GLA, Macan and Q1 doing so in the near future.

The 2014 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S brings 50 extra ponies to Detroit

Mon, 14 Jan 2013

Porsche has announced a new version of its popular SUV today at the Detroit Auto Show: the 550-horsepower 2014 Cayenne Turbo S.
This newly minted "flagship" of the Cayenne lineup is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.8-liter V8 engine, and offers 50 hp more than the Cayenne Turbo. Performance figures are impressive for the sleek utility vehicle: 0-60 miles per hour can be dashed off in 4.3 seconds, while maximum speed is rated at 175 mph. The Turbo S also gets dynamic chassis control, torque vectoring and Porsche's Sport Chrono package - all standard equipment.
Visually the Cayenne Turbo S differentiates itself from the lesser models in pretty subtle ways. Gloss black trim decorates the gawping front air intakes, as well as rear-view mirror trim panel. The SUV also wears 21-inch Turbo II wheels, a la the 911 Turbo.
