1970 914 - Only 30k Miles; Little Body Rust; All Original on 2040-cars
Hyattsville, Maryland, United States
|
My father bought this car used in 1971 - 11K miles. The car was sold in 1977 with mileage approx. 16K. The last owner before me put on about 12K. I have owned it since 2000. The car was garaged consistently from 1971 to 2006 and was never run in Winter. Since 2006, it has been under an oversize heavy duty cover. Car was professionally undercoated in 1971 (Ziebart). Interior: Clean with no signs of wear. Exterior (body) - Very nice condition; only minor rust issues. Includes original jack, spare tire tools, foot rest, owners's manual, maintenance record, and radio (original radio was not working and I replaced it (but saved it)). Tires are like new. Known issues:
Potential issues:
I am not selling as a parts car. The very low mileage, color, and general appearance of this 914 create value that many other 914s do not have. |

Porsche Museum highlights history of the 911 RSR
Sat, 12 Jan 2013Porsche has amassed quite an impressive trophy case in just about every racing series it has ever entered, and one of its most dominant machines has to be the 911 RSR from the 1970s. Taking part in various GT-class competitions, the 911 RSR managed to take home three international and seven German victories in 1973, its very first year of competition.
Not one to downplay its racing successes, Porsche has released an informative video detailing the 911 RSR's impressive heritage. The 1973 RSR model owned by the Porsche Museum is detailed beautifully on video, and we have to say it looks absolutely stunning in its vintage Martini Racing livery.
Have a look at the video below for some historic racing action, along with static shots of one of our favorite Porsche models ever created.
1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS takes center stage with Petrolicious
Wed, 04 Jun 2014Today, one of the most exciting track toys available is the Porsche 911 GT3. Its forbearer, though, was an altogether different beast that was every bit as exciting. Yes, we're talking about the old 911 Carrera RS that blessed the early 1970s. With a mere 1,580 cars built, meant specifically to satisfy the FIA's homologation requirements, the RS is one rare pre-Malaise era cars.
Complete with a 2.7-liter flat-six engine, this RS of Mark Haddawy is one of the earlier examples of the breed (later cars received a larger, 3.0-liter engine). Still, it can scamper to 60 miles per hour in a very respectable 5.6 seconds and will happily hit 150 mph in a straight line. Sporting Porsche's iconic duckbill rear spoiler, the equally iconic Fuchs wheels, as well as slew of options, as Haddawy points out, each of the nearly 1,600 RS models is its own unique iteration on the Porsche performance formula.
Take a look below for the latest video from the crew at Petrolicious.
Listen to the Porsche Macan's exhaust note ahead of its LA debut
Fri, 08 Nov 2013As if we need further proof that the Porsche Macan won't just be another small CUV, it'll be a small Porsche CUV, the German automaker has released a video of the vehicle's raucous exhaust note. In short, the Macan will sport a far racier soundtrack than most of its competitors.
The raspy sound coming from one of the Macan's two turbocharged V6 engines sounds great (the video isn't clear as to whether we're listening to the base 3.0-liter or the Turbo model's 3.6-liter engine), and it's accompanied by a nice crackle on overrun. It isn't like a 911 or other flat-six model, but it is more or less what we expect a Porsche to sound like. We'll have all the details on the newest member of the Porsche lineup when it debuts later this month at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. Scroll down for an official press release from Porsche, as well as the video of the Macan, and be sure to turn your speakers up.
