1969/70 Porsche 914-4 2056cc Engine on 2040-cars
Boulder, Colorado, United States
I have had it evaluated by a body shop and they told me it is drivable, but to keep an eye on the door gap. This engine is an EC Case Rebuild to 2056cc by Mark Stephens (non-matching #'s), and is quick with the 44's. Has ~6k miles on it (post rebuild) according to the PO. I have put on <1k miles. Happy to answer any questions. I am selling the car because I will be traveling later this year and cannot rationalize the storage costs. The Good: Rebuilt 2056cc Motor by Mark Stephens in Denver 96mm Heads,
Weber Racing Cam and Weber 44IDF Carbs...911 Valve screws (From PO) ....that have been blasted, rebuilt, re-gasketed and jetted
and tuned to altitude (by Carquip). Upgraded later model side-shift 5-speed transmission! Upgraded Adjustable Passenger Seat! Custom Upgraded Gauge Cluster with Oil Pressure/Temp/Fuel
and 911 Speedometer! Newly Reupholstered Seats and a very clean original black
basket-weave interior! Awesome custom sound-system with subwoofer built into
console! Original "Gas Burner" Mahle Rims (Most Lightweight
914 Rims ever). Euro Head and Tail Lights! Original Great condition Chrome Bumpers with original Hella
Fog Lights! New Carpet Set! The Bad: Paint is failing all over the car. DAPO repeatedly patched
up spots on the car with bondo and sprayed over...paint was matched to Irish
Green. It is a quck paint and its not great... Pass side longitudinal and jackpoint has BAD RUST, and hell
holes are rusted a bit as well. Synchro's in 1st and second may need some attention The Deal: This a very cool example of an early 914 with a very fast engine....it has been used as a daily driver and has a strong motor but could use some TLC in terms of body work and rust. Car also comes with a 914 car bra, a
dust cover, Haynes manual and some random odds and ends. |

Driving the Panamera and Mike's Rant | Autoblog Podcast #487
Thu, Sep 8 2016This week we cover some recent news like the upcoming Land Rover Discovery, updates to FCA's large car platform (including the Challenger), and talk about water injection. Then we go into what we've been driving - David just finished his time in the Porsche Panamera Turbo and Mike tried the GMC Acadia. And then Mike (who is still uncomfortable writing in the third person) goes on a rant about why automakers shouldn't specify which cars are aimed at women. The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want questionable buying advice, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com. What driving data is Android Auto collecting from us?
Mon, Oct 12 2015In-car solutions like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make using your smartphone while driving increasingly easy, by replicating most of the gadget's functions on a vehicle's infotainment screen. In fact, they rank among the favorite automotive features available today by Autoblog editors. While there's certainly added convenience, Motor Trend claims Google is collecting a huge array of data during trips, as well. Although, that might not actually be the case. In a rundown of the upgrades for the newly refreshed Porsche 911, Motor Trend asserts that the iconic coupe doesn't have Android Auto because of alleged privacy concerns. Reportedly, Porsche elected to only include CarPlay because the Google tech collected info on a vehicle's speed and other data. The German company didn't want to share all of that vital info with another corporation. Google opposes the allegations, though. "We take privacy very seriously and do not collect the data the Motor Trend article claims such as throttle position, oil temp and coolant temp," the company said in a portion of a statement to TechCrunch. Android Auto does use a vehicle's GPS system for location info, and checks whether it's in Park or Drive to enable some features. Also, users must opt-in to sharing the first time that they connect their phone. There might be an explanation for this confusion, according to TechCrunch. Allegedly before Android Auto launched, Google did want more vehicle data, but the company eventually changed course. Porsche may have based its decision on this earlier version. This case just shines a light on the growing question of automotive privacy and Google's potential role. The government has been unhappy with how automakers have handled this responsibility, so far, though.
Autoblog Minute: VW Q3 financial woes, 2015 Tokyo Motor Show
Fri, Oct 30 2015Consumer Reports pulls its Tesla recommendation, the U.S. Copyright Office offers a ruling affecting car owners, VW gets hit hard with third-quarter losses, and lots of exciting news from Tokyo. Autoblog senior editor Greg Migliore reports on this edition of Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] Consumer Reports pulls its Tesla recommendation, the U.S. copyright office offers a ruling that affects car owners and gear heads, VW gets hit hard with third-quarter losses, and lots of exciting news from Tokyo. I'm senior editor Greg Migliore and this is your Autoblog Minute Weekly Recap. After a week away testing vehicles for Autoblog's Tech of the Year award, we're back in the office to recap the week in automotive news. [00:00:30] One of the things you might have missed was Consumer Reports pulling its recommendation of Tesla's Model S sedan. The blemish for Tesla comes after a tally of reviews from customer surveys. The most common problem areas for the Model S as cited by survey takers included: the drivetrain, power equipment, charging equipment, body and sunroof squeaks, rattles, and leaks. So lots of stuff. Though they could not ignore a score of "worse-than-average", Consumer Reports still [00:01:00] highlighted the fact that the Model S was "the best performing car" they've ever tested. Telsa CEO Elon Musk took to social media to defend his sedans saying: "Consumer Reports reliability survey includes a lot of early production cars. Already addressed in new cars." And, "Tesla gets top rating of any company in service. Most important, CR says 97% of owners expect their next car to be a Tesla (the acid test)." In Financial news, Volkswagen took a hit and reported an operating loss of [00:01:30] $3.84 billion. This is the first such loss for VW in 15 years. Toyota reclaimed the crown as the world's largest automaker as well. It's important that it's not all doom and gloom for VW though in Q3. Sales revenues were up and the company's automotive division boasts $30 billion dollars in liquid assets. It's a sizable war chest that will no doubt come in handy, as the company has yet to feel the full brunt of the diesel emissions scandal. Good news for gear heads. The US copyright office [00:02:00] ruled in favor of mechanics and car owners by granting an exception to existing copyright law. The law was originally meant to prevent software pirating and bootlegging of Hollywood movies.
