1967 Porsche 912 Matching Num 46k Orig Miles 911 Rare Parts Excellent Interior on 2040-cars
Catasauqua, Pennsylvania, United States
up for sale is a very original 1967 Porsche 912. this is an original numbers matching 46k mile car. I have documentation from the 70's when the car last changed owners prior to my ownership where the mileage was recorded in the low 40k. the previous owner told me that the car has been in his barn since 1980. this explains the 78/79 inspection sticker still on the car and the very nice original interior. the original color was polo red. it was painted at some point prior to the previous owner that I purchased this car from. it has a clear PA title and I am willing to ship anywhere as long as your paying. BODY: the car is in need of a total restoration, usual rusted floors, longs, rockers, front pan. it also has rusted holes behind the pop out windows, it can be seen in the pics. the front bumper, rear bumpers, rear deck lid, front hood are all solid. rear deck lid has an excellent condition grille. the car also has the four screw front fenders. car also has original koni shocks yet. front hood has hood pins for some reason. INTERIOR: the interior is actually very nice for the most part. considering this is a 46k mile car that would be expected. the front seats are very nice original condition seats, only blemishes are one nick on the seam drivers side and a quarter size hole on the back of the passenger seat. the rear seats are also in nice condition as is the rear side panels and deck area. the dash has no cracks. left side of the dash above ignition is becoming brittle. the dash top is in nice condition as well. the original steering wheel is in excellent condition as is the rare bat wing horn button. the door panels are extremely nice, no sagging pockets or anything. everything could use some more cleaning to make it even better. not sure if this is an original radio or not, seems to fit the dash well. the carpet is nice and the original rubber mats are also present. ENGINE: the engine is currently seized. obviously from sitting for the last 34 years it would need a rebuild. the original solex carbs are intact and move freely. the engine number is 753797 and the transmission is 237144. these are numbers matching to the certificate of authenticity which will be included with the sale. please have a plan ready to go if you plan on purchasing this vehicle on how you will pick it up. I expect a $500 non refundable deposit at the end of the auction. I am willing to take any additional photos that you might want or answer any other questions quickly. please have this car picked up within one week of end of auction or as discussed with me. |

Porsche 911 and Citro"en DS lovechild would look like this
Wed, 06 Nov 2013The early Porsche 911 and the Citroën DS were two cars produced in the same era (though the DS launched in 1955, nearly 10 years before the 911), but they were vastly different from each other. The 911 was a uniquely German, pure-bred sports car, while the French-built DS had four doors and focused more on ride quality than sporting intentions. That made it all the more surprising when we came across the 911DS, a creation that binds the rear half of the Citroën to the front of an early, longhood 911.
The folks at Brandpowder are behind the creation, which we surmise was an exercise in design rather than an actual, completed project (some of the images look Photoshopped), but it's compelling nonetheless, with a turbocharged flat-six providing 260 horsepower. We hope someone builds it - though we're sure if that happened the early 911 crowd would cry afoul at one of its increasingly rare and valuable Porsches being grafted onto an old French car.
But as Brandpowder points out lightheartedly, perhaps the creation could transcend popular car culture: "The 911DS represents the effort of two countries, a genuine attempt to join their energy and talent into one thing. We hope Germany and France will be inspired by Brandpowder's story, as a metaphor for a better and greater Europe."
2015 Porsche Cayenne S Quick Spin
Mon, May 11 2015There are sporty SUVs, but until the Macan came along, the Porsche Cayenne was arguably the only pure definition of a 'sports SUV, a la sports car. The second-generation Cayenne is now five years old, but still looks fresh. It's handsome without obvious effort, especially with the optional 21-inch 911 Turbo wheels. The Cayenne S replaces the old, 400-horsepower, 4.8-liter V8 with the brand-new, Porsche-developed 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6. This engine is quickly proliferating through the range – it powers the current Panamera S and the Macan Turbo. That former 4.8-liter started life as a 4.5-liter with 350 horsepower way back in 2002, specifically developed for the Cayenne, and to the end it remained a potent engine. We tried the new forced-induction V6 with 420 hp earlier this year in the Panamera S, and other than a soggy exhaust note it maintained the character of the former V8 sport sedan, with lusty power and hasty delivery. So, how's it do in the Cayenne? Driving Notes The Cayenne S version of the TT V6 gets 420 hp and 406 pound-feet of torque. That means there's 37 more lb-ft than the previous V8, and 22 more lb-ft than in the new Panamera S. Yet the 607-pound difference in curb weight between the Panamera and Cayenne means the V6 has a heavier load to lift here. And it shows – the instant response is dulled. Stomping the right foot gets the eight-speed transmission rappelling through gears to provide a little kick, but real gumption doesn't come until the turbos kick in. We're maybe talking about a second of pause compared to the Panamera, but a noticeable second. Perhaps a small price to pay for slightly better fuel economy, if you really care about such in your 420-hp SUV. Part of why we notice that second is that the Cayenne S is so right-now everywhere else that any perceived hesitation gets extra attention. It offers a specific adjustability that many sports cars don't have, with one button adjusting the three-mode air suspension and a separate Sport button tweaking the steering, throttle, gear changes, and traction control. With Sport keeping all the horses at the ready and the optional Porsche Torque Vectoring holding things steady, you don't need to step up to the GTS trim to get immediate acceleration, crisp steering, flat cornering at very un-SUV-like speeds, and tremendous stopping power from a total of 20 brake pistons. That said, the exhaust note here could also use a shot of Bruce Banner's gamma rays.
Jaguar F-Type squares off against Porsche 911, Aston V8 Vantage with Chris Harris
Fri, 21 Jun 2013Chris Harris is back on the job, taking on really really difficult car questions like: Which enormously sexy and good-to-drive, high-performance convertible is the top of the heap? As one of the hottest cars in the luxury space right now, the Jaguar F-Type S is, of course, in on the action. Competition comes in the form of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster and the Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet. Sun-loving CEOs who despise test-driving need look no further.
Scroll on below for a fully featured (with a running time of more than 20 minutes) comparison video. Harris does his best to entertain - in a typically nitpicky and made-up-British-words fashion - and the moving pictures are lovely to look at. Kick back, pour a pint and get your weekend started off right.
