Sc Sunroof Coupe - Low Reserve! on 2040-cars
Alvin, Texas, United States
|
This is a very clean and solid Porsche 911 SC. It has spent most of it's life in East Texas. The car is currently owned by the 3rd owner who has had it since 1987 and used it for his daily driver until he retired about 12 years ago. It has seen very little use since then - in fact only about 10,000 miles. He has moved to Florida and decided not to take it with him and has asked me to sell "his Baby" for him. I am not a dealer, just a friend and the car is in Alvin, Texas if you want to pre-inspect it. It is well maintained with a stack of receipts for things done to it over the years. It has the original owners manuals and tool kit. Clear Texas title with no liens. Here is what I know: repainted by a high end paint shop in 2002 in same original Gray color. New seat Upholstery 2011, AC is upgraded to 134a, Timing chain tensioner upgrade at 130,000 miles, catalytic converter replaced at 155,000 miles, Upgraded headlights. Nice Blaupunkt radio with electric antenna, has Alarm system, factory fog lights, cruise, tinted power windows, power mirrors. It comes with a Porsche car cover. The condition of the interior is pretty much flawless with only a little fading on the rear seat tops which could easily be dyed. There is a small dent in the left rear quarter panel, there are some rock chips on the hood, no rust on floorpan and the car was reportedly garage kept. I just replaced the strut lifts for the hood and engine cover. It needs front tires and the AC need charging. This is a low reserve auction compared to others on e-bay currently, but I reserve the right to end early for a local sale. I can answer questions through ebay and on the phone between 6pm and 9pm CST during the week. 281-585-5744. I can also get any other information you need from the owner. Good Luck, Mike |

Why you must buy an air-cooled Porsche 911 now
Fri, 14 Feb 2014"Because" might be a good response to our headline, but as a vintage (purists might call 'proper') Porsche 911 is hardly cheap, we suspect you'll need a better explanation than that. Enter Drive editor Mike Spinelli.
Spinelli sits down with Zac Moseley and Mick Prichinello from Classic Car Club Manhattan to first explain why the market for old, air-cooled 911s has gotten so hot over the past few years, and to discuss if it's a bubble that's about to burst. Following that, this video is really is just three guys sitting around talking about old Porsches for 35 minutes. Which, you know, we're pretty onboard with.

Porsche forum claims eco-friendly 911 Blu coming to Frankfurt
Thu, 01 Aug 2013The fiftieth anniversary of the Porsche 911 has been a nearly year-long affair, with unique tributes and even a special anniversary edition with plenty of retro throwbacks. The party is expected to continue through the end of 2013, and if one 911 enthusiast forum is right, we'll see yet another special edition model near the anniversary of the original car's September 1963 debut, when it arrives at next month's Frankfurt Auto Show.
It's called the 911 Blu, and where the 911 50 Years Edition was more expensive than a 911 Carrera S hardtop, the Blu would be an entry level special edition. That's right, a limited run car that actually slots in at the very bottom of the 911 range. According to Porsche forum 911UK.com, the new car would be priced at 74,600 euros ($98,718 at today's rates) or 64,750 pounds. That undercuts the price of a base 911 in Germany by nearly 16,000 euros and in the UK by nearly 8700 pounds (although to be fair, it's roughly identical to the price of a base 911 C2S in the US).
This 911 will reportedly feature a detuned flat-six with 300 horsepower and 211 pound-feet of torque.
Car Club USA: Porsche Club of America Escape to Rushmore
Wed, Dec 16 2015The Porsche Club of America, whose motto is "it's not just the cars, it's the people," plans its annual Escape in a different city every year. This year's was particularly epic, as Porsche fans headed to the Black Hills of South Dakota for their gathering. The scenery and the history are part of the attraction, but the winding roads are the real headliner. "This road right here is the reason why we chose the Black Hills of South Dakota to do the 2015 Escape," said Ron Johnson of the Nord Stern Porsche Club as he navigated the mountain range. "These Porsches really love these twisty, curvy roads." That statement neatly sums up why the sports cars have resonated so deeply with their owners and enthusiasts for so long. In addition to the guided tours and drives around the winding terrain, the club hosts a car show. This year marks the club's 60th in the United States, and the Escape drew a wide range of Porsches of all vintages. Lloyd and Donna Nelson from Valley City, ND, arrived in their 1955 Porsche Speedster, which they purchased alongside a 1951 coupe in 1964 for a grand total of $750. Needless to say, it was a good investment – although they didn't know it at the time. "We had two children, one on the way, we were both working and I really didn't see the sense in two old cars," explained Donna. "I said, 'one of them has to go,'" to which Lloyd responded, "which one of the kids?" They sold the coupe long ago, but the speedster is still gorgeous and gets more than its fair share of stares and use. Will they win best of show? "This is what us as enthusiasts dream of," Johnson said. Watch the latest episode of Car Club USA to see how it turns out and for a snapshot of life at the Escape. Each Car Club USA episode features a different car club or event from across the US, where passionate owner communities gather to share automotive experiences and embark on incredible adventures.
