Up for sale is my 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera

It is in great shape and a solid daily driver. It turns head wherever I go and it is a true classic. It is an original California 911 and came from Carlsen Porsche in Redwood City(formerly Menlo Park). Anyone who's looking for a 911 would be thrilled to have it.

The Good:
• G-programme series
• 3.2L 231bhp
• 5 speed
• Short shift
• A/C
• Automatic Heat
• Fog lights
• Electric sunroof
• Electric seats
• Electric windows
• Cruise control
• Headlight cleaning system
• Koni adjustable racing suspension
• Dynamic racing torsion bar
• Turbo sway bars and bushings
• Upgraded amp
• CD changer
• 15% tinted windows with 3M heat block of 98%

• 165000 miles
• Clear title
• original blue California plates
• California car

The bad:
• Tear in driver's seat
• Needs cruise control cable
• Chain rails need replacement in the next 5k miles

Includes ski and bike rack and some other misc accessories.

It gets great milage(approx 380miles/tank) and sticks to the road like glue. The suspension upgrade makes this car literally stick to the road like it's on rails. I really hate to sell if but it has to go.

Please don't send me any silly offers, low-balls or trade/side deals. If you're serious, come out and see the car. Please send me an email with a number and I'll call you back.

Thanks for looking!

Porsche Panamera Turbo S vs Ariel Atom Supercharged in unlikely drag battle

Thu, 01 May 2014

David versus Goliath battles are always an enticing proposition, because they offer the chance to watch scrappy underdogs take on their bigger rivals. Evo has set up just such a battle with its latest drag race between the minimalist Ariel Atom 3.5 Supercharged (Ariel Atom 3 pictured below) and the plush Porsche Panamera Turbo S.
The two cars couldn't be more different. The Atom personifies Lotus founder Colin Chapman's well-known axiom: "Simplify, then add lightness." Most of the car doesn't even have a body; it's just an exposed frame with a 310 horsepower supercharged Honda four-cylinder mounted behind the driver. On the other side, there's the Panamera Turbo S. In the latest version, it packs 570 hp and 553 pound-feet from its 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8 and it features all-wheel drive. Of course, all of that comes with a significant weight penalty.
Off the line, the differences are even more apparent. The Atom doesn't have any of the Porsche's technological wizardry, so launching it challenges the driver to build the revs and let out the clutch just right. The car screams like a banshee as it goes, though. The Porsche is the exact opposite. Its launch control system lets the driver hold down the brake, get on the throttle and accelerate away in just the right way.

NHTSA closes probe into 2011 Porsche 911 coolant leaks

Thu, 13 Mar 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced that it will end its investigation into rapid coolant loss in 24,635 Porsche 911s built between 2001 and 2011. The models affected included the standard 911, GT2, GT3 and Turbo, as well as their variants (GT2 RS, GT3 RS and Turbo S).
NHTSA was investigating for "rapid coolant loss caused by coolant pipe-fitting failure, allegedly resulting in vehicle disablement and/or loss of vehicle control due to reduced traction for the affected vehicle or following traffic," according to the regulators website. "Most of the leak complaints did not appear to involve complete separation of the fittings and many were detected when the vehicle was parked," said NHTSA's statement.
There were 63 complaints and 336 warranty claims, although the investigation was initiated after ten complaints from customers. There have been no reports of crashes or injuries attributed to rapid coolant loss.

Porsche responds to PETA after tiger cub displays at Macan dealership events

Tue, 13 May 2014

Porsche has found itself in the good graces of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which is pretty odd considering it's the only brand we know of that offers leather-lined vents. The activist group is praising the sports car manufacturer's handling of reports that some of its dealerships were set to feature tigers or tiger cubs at the local launch events for the Macan. Apparently, "macan" is the Malay word for tiger, which explains the connection between a highly touted crossover and a jungle cat.
A Tampa, FL dealership already displayed some three-week-old cubs, with PETA saying tigers for display should be at least eight to 12 weeks old. Even then, the group argues that the animals can suffer due to stress, malnourishment, neglect and a lack of veterinary care. The group brings up legal concerns, as well, arguing that if one of the cubs bit a customer, the dealership could be held liable (we're no big cat experts, but it seems unlikely a three-week-old cub could do that much damage).
Porsche's PR department quickly reacted to PETA's claims, with Vice President of Marketing Andre Oosthuizen, telling the group that Porsche is concerned about the "welfare of any animal, large or small, wild or domesticated." Oosthuizen's statements were reported in an official PETA blog.
