This is a great car that suffered a sad blow early in its life when it was stolen and some original parts were removed.  It was restored to run very well, and I have owned it for over 13 years and enjoyed every single ride in it.  Having 2 sons that no longer fit in the pop-up back seats, and only driving it once a month at best, I have come to the sad realization that I need to sell it in favor of a Daddymobile.  I tracked the care ONCE at Lime Rock in Connecticut (AWESOME!) and I think a lot can be done with this car as a racer.  As the third Porsche I have owned, I can say without qualification that this turbocharged beast is head and shoulders above the others.  The transmission, engine, clutch and turbocharger were all rebuilt about 2000 miles ago, which was about 5 years ago.  The 70,745 miles on the odometer are the original miles on the chassis, as far as I know.  I do not believe it has ever been in an accident, except for a small dent in the back bumper and a paint chip on the passenger rear quarter-panel.  But her hips are so wide, it is easy to imagine how that can happen!  A few small things to take care of include repairs to the passenger door latch, needs a new stereo and the trunk deck latch sticks.

There is a LOT of fun to be had in this great car!  Email with questions, and I am available to set up viewing in the next few days before the holidays.

A fix and buyback program for Audi V6 diesels may be on the way

Tue, Nov 15 2016

While Volkswagen reached a settlement to buy back 2.0-liter diesel inline-fours with emissions defeat devices, the roughly 80,000 cars with 3.0-liter diesel V6s built by Audi have yet to be addressed. But a new report from Bloomberg indicates that a solution is near. The publication says that sources familiar with the situation say the company has a fix ready for the majority of the cars, and that the EPA and California Air Resources Board are ready to approve it. According to Bloomberg, this fix would involve a software update and would work for about 60,000 of the Audi A8, Q5, Q7, Porsche Cayenne, and VW Touareg models with the engine. The rest of the vehicles won't be fixable without major modification, so those would have to be purchased back from the owners. Bloomberg does point out that approval from the EPA and CARB are only one piece of the puzzle. The publication said that this deal has yet to be approved by owners of the cars and the Federal Trade Commission, both of which may demand that VW offer a buyback to all owners, even those whose cars can be fixed. The good news for owners of VW products with this engine, is that they should have some closure pretty soon. And owners that still like their diesel V6 can take solace that they might actually be able to get them fixed, as opposed to owners of the 2.0-liter diesels. VW offered buybacks to owners of all 475,000 cars with the turbo four-cylinders, or a fix when it's available. However, there have been no signs of an approved fix. Magnus Walker crashes vintage Porsche with reporter inside

Fri, Aug 28 2015

One of the minor storms on the Internet earlier this week concerned Porsche 911 collector and Outlaw tuner Magnus Walker getting in an accident in Minnesota. Walker had shipped his #277 1971 Porsche 911T to the twin city for the opening of a $10-million Porsche dealership there, and the day began with lots of Facebook and Instagram photos of the car posing all over the showroom grounds. This is the same car that we've seen in Jay Leno's Garage, in Midnight Rambler, and in a Need for Speed trailer. Then came a photo of the 911 next to a semi trailer with its driver's side crumpled in and punctured. No one was clear on how it happened, but it seemed to involve swerving out of the way of a Mercedes-Benz on a frontage road by the dealership. Thanks to video from the Minneapolis Star Tribune, now we know what happened. Newspaper reporter Vineeta Sawkar had been doing a story with Walker and wanted to get some video for the piece. During one pass down the frontage road Walker decided to go into a right-hander a little faster than prudent, the car understeered toward the center yellow, and then Walker did the most verboten thing one can do when cornering in a vintage 911: he lifted off the gas. Hello instant rear-engined oversteer. Cue the fishtailing, a millimeter-fine brush with a Pagoda SL, and a crunch into that truck trailer. Sawkar said she was a little battered and bruised but ok, as is Walker – who went on to test drive a GT3 RS later in the day. Head over to the Star Tribune to see the video.

Watch Porsche legend Jeff Zwart frolic in the snow in his 356

Wed, 14 May 2014

Racing driver Jeff Zwart picked up a 1953 Porsche 356 Pre A to use as a historical prop in a Cayenne commercial, then decided to keep it when the filming was done. Then, explaining to filmmaker Will Roegge that his vintage toy does really well in slippery conditions, Zwart throws it around in the Colorado snow - on pencil-thin studded tires on 16-inch wheels - to prove the point.
Don't expect roostertails in this winter wonderland video, however; with just about 60 horsepower at sea level, gumption drops to about 40 hp when playing at 9,000 mountainous feet. But that's still plenty to work as a testament to the phrase, "If you've got it, flaunt it," and you can watch it below.
