This is a NO RESERVE listing.

This is my 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe with 61,200 miles which was purchased new by Cleveland Indians Major League Baseball All-Star pitcher Charles Nagy.

This is one of the best-condition 996-model 911s you will find for sale anywhere- this is superb-condition vehicle.

I admit, I'm a Porsche lover.  I've had nearly every model of Porsche made in the last 30 years, and I love Porsches of all kinds.  To me they are the perfect balance of reliability, performance, comfort and uniqueness.

Of course, the ultimate Porsche is and always has been the 911.  I particularly love this 996 version because of its styling, available options and superb driving experience.  There is no other car that combines this level of performance with everyday drivability and total reliability.

I chose this particular 911 very specifically. I wanted a 2WD hardtop with a 6-speed and the upgraded interior.  I don't care for the 4WD system because it numbs the steering and slows the car down off the line.  Convertibles are a huge compromise and I didn't want that either.  The only transmission I even considered was this 6-speed manual.  And finally, the base 911 interior is cheap and chintzy, so I wanted the upgraded full-leather-and-wood interior.  I also wanted a color that you don't see every day, and this Ocean Blue Metallic is a rare and beautiful color.

This 911 is one of the most well-balanced, comfortable and capable cars I've ever driven.  This is truly an enthusiast's gem.

This car has a superb, yet not overloaded list of options in addition to the huge list of standard equipment-

  • 296HP Engine
  • 6-speed Manual Transmission
  • Ocean Blue Metallic Paint
  • All Leather Seats and Interior Package (Savanna Beige)
  • Light Real Wood Package
  • Light Maplewood Steering Wheel
  • Heated Front Seats
  • 18" Turbo Cast Wheels
  • Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
  • HiFi Sound Package w/Speakers
  • AM/FM Radio with CD Player

In all the car has $6922 in options, for a total as-delivered price of $78,222.

This is just an outstanding car.  I cannot describe the exhilaration you feel hearing that hyper-mechanical flat-6 engine behind you as you accelerate through a turn.  This car has amazing balance and handling- the limits are so high that I cannot push this car even close to its capability.  While this is a sports car, it is also a comfortable luxury car.  The leather and wood interior is gorgeous, and the car has every feature you could want, and none that you don't.  This particular 911 is one of the best examples you will ever find of a pure driving and luxury experience in a Porsche.

This car has never been in any accidents, and it has all-original paint.  The paint and body are in excellent condition.  The Carfax report is clean and clear and I have the clear OH title in hand and ready to transfer.  The car has been immaculately cared-for since new, and it has always been garaged. I have the original window sticker, plus all the original books and manuals, plus the service booklet which has been stamped by the servicing dealer.  I also have three keys with the car.  This car was sold new at Stoddard Porsche, one mile from my house in Willoughby, OH.

The interior in full-leather and real Maplewood is beautiful and in excellent condition.  The leather, carpets and upholstery are clean and in very good condition for the age.  Unlike many 911 interiors, this one has been cared for and doesn't have broken/worn plastics and switchgear- it is clean, pristine and looks excellent.

This car starts, runs and drives beautifully.  The engine is smooth and powerful, the transmission shifts perfectly, the clutch is strong and the steering is tight and precise.  The suspension is tight yet compliant, the brakes stop well and there are no warning lights illuminated.  This car drives like a dream and there are no known mechanical issues.  The acceleration is strong, the braking and handling are superb, and the car handles and drives as well as any car you can buy.  This is a totally solid, reliable and dependable car with no known issues.

Everything works- the A/C is cold, all the power options and equipment are working, the sunroof and windows work properly, the rear spoiler works, there are no warning lights on, etc.  This is a no-worries car.

The tires have good tread remaining, the radio buttons aren't worn down, there are no oil leaks, nor any known RMS/IMS issues.  The car is straight and clean down the sides with no paintwork ever.

This is a totally reliable, no-worries 911 that you can drive and enjoy right now.

The next oil change is not due until 64,155 miles.

This is a 1999 car, not a 2014.  It isn't brand new, but it is exceptionally nice.  A couple of tiny issues to note: there are a few minor stone nicks on the nose, and a few tiny paint scratches here and there.  There are a couple minor scratches on the wheels, and some of the genuine wood trim in the interior is cracked a bit.  All of this is far less than average wear and tear.  This is a superbly clean, totally reliable car that I'd trust to drive to California and back.

This is a no reserve listing, but I have a number in my head that would buy the car now.  Call me to discuss.

This car is kept in my garage in Willoughby, OH.

You can fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and drive this car home.  You may also choose to have the car shipped- I highly recommend Angels Moving Autos at 530 245 0481.

Autoblog editors choose their favorite racecars of all time

Thu, Feb 26 2015

If you like cars, there is a good chance that you like racecars. There's something about the science and the art of going faster, of competition, of achievement, that accelerates the hearts of enthusiasts. It doesn't matter the series, the team or the manufacturer – there's something about racing that stirs emotions and lifts spirits. It's that way with many of you, and it's that way with our editors. With that in mind, we offer a list of our favorite racecars of all time. Of course, we'd like to hear some of yours in the comment section below. 1970 Porsche 917 Compared to some of the obscure choices by my colleagues, I feel like the Porsche 917 is almost so obvious a pick as to not be worth mentioning. Still, when coming up with my answer, my mind invariably went back to this classic racer – specifically in its blue-and-orange Gulf livery – while watching Le Mans on DVD and later Blu Ray with my dad. Long, low and curvaceous, few vehicles have ever looked sexier lapping a track than the 917. More than just a pretty face, this beauty had speed, too, thanks to several tunes of flat-12 engines over the course of its racing life. In the early '70s, Porsche was a dominant force throughout sports-car competition, and the 917 (shown above at the 1970 24 Hours of Daytona) was the tip of that spear, including back-to-back victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Largely without dialogue or really much of a traditional plot, Le Mans is like a tone poem of racing goodness. While the 917's importance to motorsports history is undoubtedly fascinating, it's still this cinematic depiction of the Porsche racer that draws me in most, especially with the volume cranked. – Chris Bruce Associate Editor 1964 Mini Cooper S How could everyone not be selecting the 1964 Mini Cooper S piloted by Paddy Hopkirk and Henry Liddon? That car, 33 EJB, took the first of British Motor Corporation's four Monte Carlo Rally wins (it should have been five, but French judges got the British Minis [and Fords] disqualified on a technicality regarding headlights... which its own car, the winning DS, was also in violation of). The tiny red car and its white roof beat out Ford Falcons, Mercedes-Benz 300SEs and scores of Volvos, Volkswagens and Saabs. This, along with the several years of dominance that followed, cemented the idea that not only could the tiny, two-tone Mini be a real performance vehicle, but that family-friendly city cars in general could be fun.

Conquest and controversy conclude the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona [spoilers]

Sun, 26 Jan 2014

If you don't wish to know who won the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona, you should avert your eyes right now. We'll even give you a double-space to skedaddle...
For those of you still with us, the first race in the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) is done, but the discussions about it certainly won't end for a while. Daytona Prototypes claimed the first four overall places, the top spot taken by the No. 5 Action Express Coyote-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi, Sebastien Bourdain and Burt Friselle. The 16th and final caution of the race bunched the field up for an eight-minute sprint to the flag, so the first place getter finished just 1.4 seconds ahead of the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Max Angelelli. Third place went to Brian Friselle in the No. 9 Action Express Chevrolet Corvette DP, 20 seconds down. Chevrolet power hasn't taken the overall win since 2003, eleven years later it scores a one-two-three-four. The No. 6 Muscle Milk/Pickett Racing ORECA-Nissan 03 scored fifth place, the top LMP2 finisher.
The Prototype Challenge class win went to the No. 54 CORE Autosport team of Colin Braun, Jon Bennett, Mark Wilkins and James Gue.

Porsche planning Cayman GT4, 700-hp Turbo S e-Hybrids

Fri, May 9 2014

The old wisdom when it came to the Porsche lineup was that the Boxster and Cayman needed to be kept in line so as not to encroach on even the lower end of the 911 range. But with the latest versions of the compact roadster and coupe, that logic has gone out the window. Especially with the introduction of the latest GTS models (pictured above). But that's not the end of the story. According to Motor Trend, Porsche is working on an even more powerful version of the Cayman that could carry the GT4 badge, positioning itself along the same lines as the 911 GT3 and GT2 – only, you know, smaller. Although our sources at Porsche would, predictably, neither confirm nor deny the report, MT has it that power could come from either a turbo-four or a more powerful flat-six, mated to the beefed-up DCT from the latest 911 GT3. A similar version of the Boxster could bring back the RS Spyder designation. That's not all Porsche is said to have in store, though. Based on the engineering that went into the 918 Spyder, Porsche could roll out a new range-topping model for the 911, Panamera and maybe even the Cayenne, packing a version of the 918's PHEV powertrain. Slotting in above the existing Turbo S variants of each model line, the new flagship models could pack 700 horsepower or more and be designated e-Hybrid in similar fashion as the 918.
