 Why this car is important:
The "Long nose" Porsche 911's are the fastest appriciating collector cars on the planet. Condition "1" 911 S models are routinely trading for over $200k and this has raised the value of all early 911 cars. The 1973.5 911T was produced for only 6 months in 1973. It was the very first Porsche to use the Bosch K Jetronic or CIS fuel injection system and it was the last "long nose" 911. This car is very desirable for collectors because there are many unique features to the 73.5 and they are all in place on this car. To top it off the car has factory A/C with both condensers.

Why this example is an interesting opportunity:
This car is a remarkable "barn find" that as sitting un-used for over 30 years and yet is in remarkable rust free and very original condition. The chassis is completely solid..completely. The car has its full size Fuchs spare and a complete set of tools books and jack. Both battery boxes are solid and rust free, the bottom of the car is amazing...mostly just some red GA dust covering the pan and wheel wells. The interior is clean and original except for the "period" Recaro sport seats installed by the original owner and the crazy "Love"stereo system. I think the stereo can be removed with no problem. I am waiting for a Porsche CoA to confirm that it is 100% numbers matching, but I see no evidence of the engine or gearbox every being removed. With some very minor work, this car can be driven and enjoyed just as it is..a time capsule that just needs a Van Halen tape to take you back to the early 80's, or it could get a paint job and some fluffing and make a little money, OR it is a perfect candidate for an international quality concours quality restoration. I have purposely paused to offer it for sale at this moment in the cars resurrection in the hope I can find the person who is willing to restore the car ..all the way. This is a project that I could manage for the new owner, or they can take it on themselves. If the car doesn't sell, then I will proceed with it myself, but I am swamped with cool projects and there is only so much room in life for car projects!

Here is a partial list of the work we have performed on the car since purchase:
Restored fuel system. Opened fuel tank, cleared rust and varnish, repaired whirl pot, coated inside and welded back together and painted. replaced all rubber lines with modern ethanol resistant fuel lines. rebuilt original fuel pump and serviced injectors and CIS system. All parts are original.
We replaced master cylinder and all rubber brakes lines. (Pad are glazed and need replacing and calipers should be rebuilt or replaced before regular use.)
We replaced the worn shifter bushings so it changes gears properly with no grinding or trouble.

Everyone who knows Porsches who sees this car, walks away with their jaw dropped...it is an amazing find and needs a good home. If I keep it, I am going to do the paint next and you will see it here for many more dollars in a few weeks...opportunity is knocking...how many more of these are you going to see?

Porsche resurrects V8-powered 911 prototype from the Eighties

Wed, 14 May 2014

These days, we take it for granted that the Porsche 911 uses a flat-six engine. That's because every version of the iconic rear-engined sports car has had one. Right? Well, for the most part. There was the 912 that joined the original in the late Sixties with a flat-four. And in the mid-Eighties, Porsche toyed around with the idea of a V8-powered 911.
After the first-generation 911 had been in production for over two decades, Porsche began development of its successor, the 964, in the 1980s. And one of its ideas was to use a V8 engine. So it took a 964, borrowed a V8 from Audi, gave it the rear bodywork from a 959 and dubbed it the 965.
The idea was to create a more affordable successor to the 959 that included its advanced all-wheel drive system and active suspension. The Audi V8 would have been replaced with one of Porsche's own design - possibly based on the it had built for Indy racing - but Dr. Ulrich Bez (who was then head of Porsche R&D long before taking the reins at Aston Martin) ultimately killed the project.

Porsche recalls new 911 models over exhaust pipe issues

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Porsche, though the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, announced a voluntary recall on about 2,200 911 Carrera and Carrera 4 models built during the 2012 and 2013 model years. On cars equipped with the standard exhaust system it was found that the tailpipes could separate from the mufflers and become dangerous road debris; models that added the optional sport exhaust system are not included in this recall.
Affected vehicles were built between March and November of last year, but there have been no reports of the problem on any customer-owned vehicles. Porsche first noticed a cracked tailpipe weld on a test vehicle back in May, and since then has found similar problems on other internally owned vehicles, all with more than 25,000 miles on the clock. To fix the problem, dealers will be replacing the mufflers. Scroll down to read the official notice.

Watch Porsche's 918 Spyder break a sweat while hot weather testing

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

With five months left until the 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder enters production, Porsche engineers are still putting the hybrid sports coupe through a battery of last-minute tests. To give us new reasons to ogle over the car - as if we needed any more - Porsche has released a short video showing the 918 Spyder undergoing shakedown tests in the hot Nevada desert. And you can't drive through Nevada without visiting Vegas, too, right?
Although there's really nothing new to see in this video, it's still fun to watch as Porsche approaches one million test miles logged on this exciting new high-performance model. One interesting part (at around the 0:37 mark) shows the car taking off under electric power and then transitioning to engine power, which results in a mix of whirs and growls as the 918 Spyder switches from a 127-horsepower electric vehicle to an 887-hp hybrid supercar. Scroll down to watch - and hear - Porsche's latest creation in motion.
