2001 Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible 2-door 3.4l on 2040-cars
Boca Raton, Florida, United States
I purchased the 2001 996 porsche in 2009 with 40,000 miles and my mechanic said it was very well maintained. Since purchasing the car, it's run absolutely flawlessly with the engine and transmission function like every other 911 (had five previously) I've had before it. In fact, it's really the only car I would consider buying with high milage because they are so well made. This car has be serviced religiously since I owned it with the major service being done after 61,000 miles including engine and trans oil and filters, all 6 ignition coils changed and belts. I have all the service documents from the first to the last including my bill of sale from the dealer that sold it to me. The convertable roof was replaced about 2 years ago along with the hydrolics that operate it. Everything in the car works without fail including the convertable top, all guages, electric seats, side mirrors, interior lights and remote key access. This particular 911 has the AERO package with ground effect side skirts and rear quarter fender kickouts that were factory installed as far as I know and make the car look slick. Also has the full leather package. There are some issues that do not affect performance including: the all 4 wheels were damaged (see pics) by my tire store (no longer my tire store) when the dummy attempted to clean them before reinstalling. Needless to say they need to be restored. The leather on the drivers side door is deteriorating along the window (see pic). The driver's side seat back has a spot that has worn through showing the foam (see pic) and there was an accident that I was invovled in (light front end) that was professionally repaired. There is a bow in the radiator that my mechanic said to leave as is since it's not leaking and has performed just fine for 20k miles. I live in South Florida with 96 degree days, and this little car doesn't break a sweat. In fact the air conditioner blows so cold that at night you find it set at minimum fan otherwise you freeze. The rear tires also need to be replaced. As for the exterior, the sides show straight and true. There's only one or two digs in the side panels. The car really looks good from the sides. The roof has some paint chips consistent with the age of the car. There's also a slight rub mark on one of the back fenders (hard to see). Happy bidding. Please do not bid unless you're willing to inspect the car and make sure everything is as I described. I'm availabe to speak by phone at: 561-404-8888. I can assist with shipping but I will be your responsibility to pay for it.

Xcar considers the Porsche 911 GT3's PDK
Fri, May 29 2015Porsche ruffled some feathers when it unveiled the latest 911 GT3 a couple of years ago with a dual-clutch transmission instead of an old-school manual. The rationale was (and remains) that the PDK makes the enthusiast's Elfen faster than it would be with a stick. The purists scoffed, but Zuffenhausen held firm – and even did the same with the even more hardcore GT3 RS. In its latest video, the boys at Xcar set out to find out if the GT3 with its fancy automated gearbox is as good as the previous model (or as good as the current model could be) with a manual – and took in some of the track toy's other trickery while they were at it. Check out the video above to find out what conclusion they reached.
Mercedes S63 AMG Coupe vs Porsche Panamera Turbo S in unusual lux showdown
Fri, 07 Nov 2014We'll admit it, we're really looking forward to more time with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. Compared to other high-dollar luxury coupes - we're looking at you Bentley Continental GT - it's more stylish, easily more affordable, and since it's a Mercedes, lacks the sense of fragility that comes with a more exotic name plate.
Auto Express has taken a whack at reviewing the new two-door S-Class, and for some reason, the British mag is comparing it with a Porsche Panamera. Now, while comparing the looks of an S-Class Coupe and a Panamera is a bit like holding a beauty contest between Kate Upton and Medusa, this isn't as bizarre a pair as you might think, particularly when you opt for the high-dollar S63 AMG Coupe and the Panamera Turbo S.
The two offer similar power outputs from their force-induced V8s - 577 horsepower in the Benz and 570 horsepower in the Porsche - and are even similar in terms of interior and exterior dimensions. The S-Class actually has an extra inch between the axles and is 1.2 inches longer overall (it's also about 300 pounds heavier). In the cabin, the S-Class also has a tiny bit more rear legroom, with 33.4 inches to the Panamera's 33.3.
2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed statue unveiled
Thu, 11 Jul 2013Each year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a single marque is celebrated with a large and ornate "Central Feature" sculpture, with recent automakers including Audi in 2009, Alfa Romeo in 2010, Jaguar in 2011 and Lotus last year. This year, Porsche gets the honor, and it is using the opportunity to commemorate 50 years of the 911.
The sculpture features three generations of the 911 towering over the Goodwood House. The most recent 991 911 has the lowest position, with an original 1963 car second highest and a 1973 2.7 RS at the top of the pile. Be sure to check out the sculpture for yourself in the gallery of images above.
