Porsche reveals new LMP1 racecar testing ahead of 2014 Le Mans debut

Getting ready for its triumphant return to the premier racing class of Le Mans, Porsche has released a handful of images showing its new LMP1 racecar testing. Porsche hasn't run a car in the Prototype class at 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2009, but this racecar - still veiled in secrecy - will be expected to battle against the Audi and Toyota LMP1 Prototypes to help bring Porsche its 17th Le Mans victory.
Aside from knowing that it will use a hybrid powertrain to meet LMP1 rules, there are no other details about the car... including its name or potential sponsors. In the meantime, Porsche has set up a microsite, called Mission 2014, to share its extensive history racing at Le Mans. Lego might be a child's toy, but it enjoys a large following among adults. This has bred highly advanced, detailed creations, some of which take hours to build. Like the Porsche 911 GT3 RS Technic kit. The 2,704-piece kit's detail is remarkable. But the sheer array of parts doesn't really explain how long it takes to put together. For one, Brick Builder's 25-minute video, embedded above, is a time lapse. Yes, a 25-minute time lapse. It shows an assembly guide with 856 individual steps that looks like it's about two inches thick. There are less detailed owner's manuals. The video itself is mesmerizing. Watching each individual part come together into recognizable components is just like watching an actual car being assembled, only it's plastic instead of metal. In fact, guessing what the components will become is a big part of the fun. If you just want to see the body come together, you'll want to fast forward to segment three, around the 16-minute mark. Parents of terminally ill child sue after son dies following make-a-wish-style ride

Some stories are so sad and depressing, they make you want to go back to bed and pull the covers over your head. This is one such story. 14-year-old Raphael Wittman was suffering from an unspecified form of terminal cancer when he was invited by the children's cancer charity Kinder Krebs Hilfe to a charity drive organized by Porsche Forum Austria. During the drive, the Porsche Boxster Wittman was riding in was involved in a head-on collision. Both of his legs were broken and he bit off his tongue in the wreck. He died seven weeks later, in a Vienna hospital. Now, his father is suing the charity, claiming that the accident robbed his son of the will to live.
"The accident set off a chain of events starting with the doctors putting him on new medication for the cancer he had. He was always a fighter, but suddenly he was saying that he was not going to fight any more," Franz Wittman told Austria's Kurier, according to The Guardian. "We would have had a wonderful last time together [on vacation] but it never happened because of the accident."
Father and son were originally planning to go to Tenerife to spend time together, although those plans were cancelled following the accident.
