With the exception of a few disparate models scattered over the decades, Porsche has built its fame and fortune on a single rear-engine sports car, the 911. From rather humble beginnings, the Porsche 911 has gone on to be one of the most influential and most recognizable vehicles in the world. Although other sports cars have been able to outperform the 911 in one area or another, nothing has yet to match Porsche's overall blend of performance, practicality and that endearing connection between car and driver. This 964 version of the car provides stunning levels of performance without sacrificing much in terms of day-to-day usability, and many Porsche purists still consider the 911 the only "real" Porsche.

 In Cabriolet form, they only built 600 of them for the US and Canadian market combined! Considering that the split was about 60% US to 40% CN, and included C-2 and C-4 models with 5-speed and tiptronic, there can't be too many of these around! Especially as original and fine as this one! With an MSRP of about seventy nine thousand, it's a true bargain today

This rare and highly sought after 1990 Porsche Carrera 964 Cabriolet is the last generation of the HAND BUILT chassis. A very high grade car with impeccable service records. Built with 4-speed Tiptronic transmission, tan leather interior, full power cabriolet top, climate control A/C-heat, power steering, power door locks, ABS brakes, driver and passenger air bags, full 8-way power drivers seat with lumbar, 6- speaker stereo sound system, power windows, central locking with factory alarm, cruise control, leather seats, all-around, power/heatable rear view mirrors, intermittent wipers, halogen H-5 headlamps, 16-inch wheels, retracting power rear spoiler,  Guards red paint work is immaculate considering the age of the original paint.

Central to the this car's strong personality is its marvelous 3.6-liter flat-six engine. Producing 247 hp at 6100 rpm and 229 pound-feet of torque at 4800, this powerplant has plenty of low-rev grunt, and yet it pulls fiercely right up to its 6800-rpm redline.

No money were spared on this car. Exhaust system replaced with upgraded high flow dual outlet stainless steel Fabspeed system; performance DME E-Prom from Autothority Engineering; upgraded rear bumper cover to accommodate dual outlet performance stainless exhaust; updated convertible folding top assembly with left and right gear mechanism; brakes serviced at 47201, Tiptronic transmission maintenance service performed at the same time; oil change done at 42775-passed enhanced emissions and safety inspection at the same time; new ZF steering rack with new rubber mounting bushings; new Interstate battery; new ZF steering pump with belt; alternator with new belts; major service done within the last 2000 miles; new spark plugs, distributor caps, rotors;  cam covers resealed, timing chain cases resealed, crank seals all replaced with major service;  invoices available detailing all work done by a German specialty service center.

Continental DWS tires on rear wheels are new, 2 front continental tires are in need of replacement but no cords exposed;

There are a few imperfections which I am aware of with photos in this listing.  The right door edge half way up has a small crease which Im sure happened in my garage.  The front hood has a small coin sized dent to the right of the Porsche emblem which can be corrected with painless dent.  A small car accident (2/2011) to the front bumper cover ended up as small crack above the right turn indicator and scratch marks which are barely visible.  The under side of the front bumper is pushed up slightly and the sheet metal underside slightly creased from contact with a concrete parking block. I valet parked the car one night and didn't notice it until days later which is very aggravating.  Canvas top has a slight 20 millimeter tear on it left side.  This section of the top is double layered and the tear is only on the outer portion of the canvas.   There is no hole which goes right through canvas to the interior.  The right tail light has hairline cracks from aging plastic lens but no moisture has entered. Some of the hand tools are missing from the tool pouch but jack and air compressor are ok.  Im sure they are in my garage somewhere but can't seem to find them. Plastic surround trim to in dash cd player cracked and fell off.  The leather steering wheel and leather shift knob are in excellent condition.  The drivers seat side bolster shows some wear, discoloration and cracking but no tears or holes.

I have many more photos but listing only allowed 24 photos.  I can send more photos of specific areas at your request. Lastly I've owned this car since 2003 which I purchased with roughly 30,000 miles.

Porsche reveals new LMP1 racecar testing ahead of 2014 Le Mans debut

Wed, 12 Jun 2013

Getting ready for its triumphant return to the premier racing class of Le Mans, Porsche has released a handful of images showing its new LMP1 racecar testing. Porsche hasn't run a car in the Prototype class at 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2009, but this racecar - still veiled in secrecy - will be expected to battle against the Audi and Toyota LMP1 Prototypes to help bring Porsche its 17th Le Mans victory.
Aside from knowing that it will use a hybrid powertrain to meet LMP1 rules, there are no other details about the car... including its name or potential sponsors. In the meantime, Porsche has set up a microsite, called Mission 2014, to share its extensive history racing at Le Mans. Also, be sure to check out some of the past videos Porsche has released as it gears up for its reborn LMP1 program.

Porsche sells a $6,570 office chair

Thu, Mar 31 2016

If you're in the market for a new seat and a Porsche fan, then the German company might have the chair of your dreams. Be ready to spend some serious cash, though. The Porsche Office Chair RS looks identical to what is in the company's vehicles, and Porsche promises the chair uses the same leather and Alcantara as in the sports cars. The brand's crest comes embossed on the headrest, too. Buyers also get the usual features you would expect from an office chair like adjustments to the seat height and armrests. There's also a jacket hook at the back. However, the coolest part is the electrically adjustable backrest with a rechargeable battery for power. If the Office Chair RS has one downside, it's the price. Porsche's website shows a list price of $6,570. If you shop around, that's a similar to what a Porsche 944 will set you back, and you can actually drive the 944. If you're looking for something slightly less expensive, Porsche also has a regular office chair that looks very similar to the RS but retails for $5,690, which still isn't much of a bargain, but is pretty cool nonetheless. 1949 Gm?nd Porsche shows the birth of an icon

Fri, 21 Mar 2014

The Austrian village of Gmünd is more than just difficult to pronounce; it's also the birthplace of the Porsche brand. Before the company ever started building sports cars at its current home base near Stuttgart, the fledgling business completed several vehicles in the tiny town in Southern Austria. In this video, former Pikes Peak International Hill Climb champion Jeff Zwart takes a look at a 1949 Gmünd coupe to see how the company has evolved since its earliest days.
The thing to note about the Gmünd-built Porsches is their absolute design simplicity. The phrase "form follows function" gets bandied around a lot, but it really means something when you look at these early cars. However, the minimalism was partially out of necessity. The vehicles were meant to be sporty but certainly weren't rockets. Power came courtesy of a modified Volkswagen Beetle engine, and anything extraneous would have slowed the models down. Scroll down to watch Zwart go back in time to Porsche's beginnings.
