IM SELLING MY 1988 PORSCHE CARRERA. ITS GOT THE 3.2 FLAT 6 ENGINE WITH A 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION (G50 TRANSMISSION). I HAD ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BACK IN 2007 WITH 221,000 MILES ON IT. AT THE TIME IT WAS STILL FULLY FUNCTIONAL BUT JUST IN NEED OF SOME SERIOUS TLC. THE FIRST THING I NOTED THAT THE FACTORY AIR CONDITION DIDNT WORK. BEING THE WORD IVE HEARD FROM MULTIPLE, THE AIR CONDITION SYSTEM IN THESE VEHICLES NEVER REALLY WORKED WELL UNLESS YOU WERE BUZZING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND HAD A GOOD AIR FLOW OVER THE REAR TAIL WHERE THE FIN IS TO COOL THE CONDENSOR. ANYWAYS, I ENDED UP TAKING THE COMPRESSOR AND CONDENSOR OFF THE VEHICLE SINCE I NEVER PLANNED TO FIX IT. I DO HAVE THE 2 ITEMS I CAN PROVIDE THE BUYER OF THE VEHICLE WITH. SINCE THE TIME IVE BOUGHT IT, IVE DONE ALL NEW INTERIOR UPHOLSTRY(INCLUDING NEW CARPETING), NEW SUNROOF CABLES AND GUIDES, NEW FRONT WIDSHIELD WITH NEW GLASS SEALS FOR THE FRONT AND REAR GLASS, A NEW CLUTCH WITH NEW FLYWHEEL AND STARTER GEAR RING(ALL CLUTCH BOLTS WERE REPLACED WITH NEW ONES), TUNE UP WITH NEW PLUGS, CAP, ROTOR, WIRE SET WITH NEW AIR AND FUEL FILTERS, REDONE THE FUEL LINES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WITH STAINLESS STEEL BRAIDED LINES, ENGINE VALVE ADJUSTMENT, REPLACED THE REAR SWAYBAR MOUNTING BRACKETS ON THE BODY WITH THE STRONGER WEVO MOUNTS, NEW RIMS WITH EUROMEISTER RIMS THAT LOOK IDENTICAL TO THE ORIGINAL FUCHS, UPGRADED FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS WITH THOSE OFF OF A 944 TURBO, REPLACED ALL 4 BRAKE LINES TO THE CALIPERS WITH THE STAINLESS STEEL BRAIDED LINES, NEW HEADLAMP LENSES AND FOG LAMP BULBS, AND MANY OTHER LITTLE THINGS TO HELP IMPROVE THE VEHICLE APPEARANCE AND VALUE. I JUST HAD THE VEHICLE SMOG INSPECTED AND PASSED WITH NO PROBLEMS. ITS JUST A GOOD STRONG RUNNING CAR AND REALLY HATE TO PART WITH IT, BUT TIME FOR IT TO GO. IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THE VEHICLE, PLEASE RESPOND TO MY EMAIL, LEAVE ME YOUR CONTACT INFO (EMAIL OR PHONE NUMBER)AND I WILL GET BACK TO YOU IN A TIMELY MANNER. IF VEHICLE IS PURCHASED, A PAYPAL DEPOSIT WOULD BE REQUIRED TO HOLD THE VEHICLE. ANY BUYER OUT OF THE AREA WILL NEED TO ARRANGE FOR ANY KIND OF TRANSPORTATION OF THE VEHICLE. THE REMAINDER OF THE PAYMENT WOULD NEED TO BE IN THE FORM OF A CHECK FROM A BANK OR CASH IN HARD BEFORE VEHICLE IS RELEASED TO NEW OWNER. THANKS FOR YOUR INTREST.

The dream of the '90s is alive in Porsche 968 retro review

Tue, Jun 30 2015

Only a month after Porsche confirmed that the next-generation Boxster and Cayman will get four-cylinder engines, it is apt that we have a MotorWeek retro review of the 1992 Porsche 968. Porsche hoped the 968 – nee 944 – and its naturally-aspirated, 3.0-liter, four-cylinder would revive sales of its entry-level line, but that didn't happen: going on sale in 1992, 1995 was its last year on the market. This was at a time when a stock 968 coupe cost $39,850, surpassing the out-the-door price of a loaded Chevrolet Corvette. The 968 convertible cost $51,000. That didn't stop MotorWeek's unanimous support of the 968, praising its design, the delivery of its 236 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque, and its handling - MotorWeek called it "Pure 90s performance," in spite of some fiddly switchgear and a noisy, firm ride. You can watch the review above. We have a feeling Porsche's four-cylinder fortunes will go much better this time around.

Weekly Recap: Porsche embarks on Mission E

Sat, Dec 5 2015

Porsche's board of directors approved the company's first all-electric car Friday, signing off on production of the eye-catching Mission E concept that debuted in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It's set for launch by the end of the decade. The Frankfurt concept uses lithium-ion batteries to power two synchronous motors that create more than 600 horsepower and provide a range of 311 miles on the European cycle. It's capable of hitting 62 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds and can run the Nurburgring Nordschleife in less than eight minutes. In a statement, Porsche board chairman Oliver Blume called the Mission E the "beginning a new chapter in the history of the sports car." Porsche is backing that up with a roughly $1.1-billion investment that will create more than 1,000 jobs at its facilities in Zuffenhausen, Germany. The company will spend more than $760 million at its main site there to build a paint shop and a new assembly plant. It will also expand an engine factory to make electric motors. Porsche's renewed electric ambitions come as it grapples with fallout from parent company Volkswagen's diesel-emissions scandal. Porsche uses a VW diesel engine in the Cayenne SUV, which it stopped selling in November until a fix is found. Still, Mission E's scheduled landing could be as much as four years away – when Porsche and VW hope their diesel woes will be long over. The electric strategy is clearly a long play to provide its enthusiast owners with an efficient form of sport and luxury as fuel economy and emissions regulations tighten around the world. And if you still can't wrap your head around electric Porsches, the company also just announced plans to make the 911 Turbo and Turbo S even more powerful. Electric propulsion is part of Porsche's future, but for now at least, it isn't everything. OTHER NEWS VW sales crash 25 percent in November Finally, the other shoe dropped. Volkswagen sales plummeted 25 percent in November as fallout from the company's diesel-emissions scandal finally showed up on the sales charts. VW had managed to tread water with flat sales through September (the scandal broke more than halfway through the month) and October. The company stopped selling its 2.0-liter I4 and 3.0-liter V6 diesels as it works to make the engines complaint with emissions rules. VW admitted to rigging its diesel-powered cars so they could pass emissions tests in the United States and around the world.
