This is a 1982 Porsche 911 SC that we have owned since about 1996. It was repainted in 2003 and also had a newer interior from a 1990 installed at that time. The original color was a dark brown and now it is black.  The interior is the same color tan.  There are door dings, rock chips and all that you would see with a used car. The car has every option that was available for this year including Billstien struts. There are no oil leeks. All newer hoses,O rings and oil cooler. The trans was rebuilt a few years ago and shifts fine. The engine runs fine. No milky oil cap. Newer alternator, battery, oil change, valve set, plugs and wires, rebuilt alternator. Two sets of wheels BBS 7 & 8 X 16 and Phone dial 7 & 8 X 16. We used the Phone dials for Blizzak tires in the winter. We ran the car in a few drivers ed weekends so it has frozen rotors and performance brake pads. Really hate to part with it but we have too many cars. The car is now in Illinois and we could drop it off on the way to Colorado for the buyer if needed.  Otherwise the buyer can pick it up here. The stitching on the steering wheel is bad. I would go with a new Momo. The AC is all there and in good condition but has not been upgraded to the new coolant. The heat works very well but needs new tubing from the heater box to the inlet vents.  Just had the motor out for service and these are easy to install $15 parts that we left off for the summer.  We are selling the car for LOW RESERVE. It is a DRIVER not a show car. If you would like more information call 970-390-6688

McQueen's Porsche 917 from Le Mans races to the auction block

Mon, 23 Jun 2014

Steve McQueen may have been the headline actor of the motorsport cult classic film Le Mans, but we all know who the real star was. Or rather, what: the Porsche 917. More specifically, it was the Gulf-liveried #22 - not McQueen's #21 - that won the race, making it one of the most iconic cars ever to drive across the silver screen. And now it's going up for auction.
This 1969 Porsche 917K, chassis 917-024, has a storied history both on and off the screen, even if it didn't win any (off-screen) races of note. This example was the first 917 to be campaigned in an actual race when Porsche handed it to Jo Siffert to drive against the Ferrari 312P and Ford GT40 at the Spa-Francorchamps 1000 Km race in 1969. Siffert found the early example too unstable and ultimately drove an earlier 908 to the checkered flag, but after 917-024 set the fastest time at the following year's Le Mans test day, Siffert acquired it outright.
The Swiss racing driver loaned the car to Solar Productions for use in the film, after which it returned to Siffert's collection until he was killed in an F1 exposition race at Brands Hatch in 1971. In a testament to how much he loved the car, it was 917-024 that lead the funeral procession. The car subsequently fell off the radar until it resurfaced in 2001 as one of the greatest barn finds of the new millennium. Now fully restored and resplendent in its original baby blue and orange, 917-024 is headed to the auction block at Pebble Beach where you can be sure that Gooding & Company will bring in a suitably high price for arguably the most iconic example of one of the most iconic Porsches of all time.

Porsche planning new 911 Speedster as 550 tribute

Tue, 12 Nov 2013

Some look at the emergence of a new Porsche 911 and see a car. But to Porsche engineers, it might as well be a reset button. Because every time a new 911 comes out, it sets off a tidal wave of new variants to follow, including convertibles, turbos, targas, GT3s... the works.
The next down the pipeline, though, could be one of the most desirable. That, according to German publication Auto Bild, will be a new 911 Speedster. When it arrives early in 2015, the special roadster will reportedly be limited to just 550 examples in tribute to the original 550 Spyder.
It'll reportedly have hidden door handles, a chopped-down windshield and a fabric top to be used only in case of emergency, manually disappearing below a carbon-fiber cowling. All of which makes it sounds as much like a bigger version of the Boxster Spyder as a successor to the last 911 Speedster (pictured above), and that's no bad thing at all.

Jaguar F-Type squares off against Porsche 911, Aston V8 Vantage with Chris Harris

Fri, 21 Jun 2013

Chris Harris is back on the job, taking on really really difficult car questions like: Which enormously sexy and good-to-drive, high-performance convertible is the top of the heap? As one of the hottest cars in the luxury space right now, the Jaguar F-Type S is, of course, in on the action. Competition comes in the form of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster and the Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet. Sun-loving CEOs who despise test-driving need look no further.
Scroll on below for a fully featured (with a running time of more than 20 minutes) comparison video. Harris does his best to entertain - in a typically nitpicky and made-up-British-words fashion - and the moving pictures are lovely to look at. Kick back, pour a pint and get your weekend started off right.
