Year:1978 Mileage:188155
Location:

Tucson, Arizona, United States

Tucson, Arizona, United States

This is a beautiful, well cared for 1978 911 SC with only 188155 original miles. It is an Arizona vehicle with zero rust and believed to be accident free!!! It is 100% original with the exception of a custom stereo system that was professionally installed with the idea of maintaining the cars original integrity and appearance. The only other non original items are a dash cover and sheep skin seat covers...

Runs amazing!!! All the service work has been performed by Radmacker Porsche and Group one motor werks in Tucson Arizona. Everything works as intended and is in pristine condition.

The only things that are not perfect on this amazing car is the dash needs re-upholstered as well as the front seats (both have covers on them now that look nice). It also has two different Barum 215/55 ZR 16 tires on the rear and 205/55 R 16 GT tires up front. Both sets are in excellent condition, but I must note that they are different brands, though compatible..

This is my dads vehicle that I am listing for him. If you have any questions about his Porsche, Just ask and if I do not

know the answer I can ask or have you call him to ask in person. This really is a beautiful car!

Meet the man that discovered and restored the oldest existing Porsche

Tue, 11 Mar 2014

Luciano Rupolo is an absolutely fascinating gentleman. He was born in France but spent nearly his entire life in Italy as an auto mechanic running his own shop. His grandfather and father instilled a love of sports cars in him that he carried on by historic racing in Italy for decades. He saw his life-long automotive passion repaid when he found and restored the car that might have been the first Porsche registered for the road.
You can spot in his garage a split-window Corvette, Ferrari 250 GTE and other exotics, but Rupolo's most interesting automotive story concerns his Iso Grifo Competizione (pictured above). The sports coupe was found in the Canary Islands as little more than a shell, but Rupolo got help from a prestigious source for its restoration. The result is a motoring masterpiece.
Rupolo is a fantastic storyteller with a captivating, tale to tell. Settle in, scroll down and watch the bittersweet documentary about his life with one of the first Porsches.

Porsche responds to PETA after tiger cub displays at Macan dealership events

Tue, 13 May 2014

Porsche has found itself in the good graces of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which is pretty odd considering it's the only brand we know of that offers leather-lined vents. The activist group is praising the sports car manufacturer's handling of reports that some of its dealerships were set to feature tigers or tiger cubs at the local launch events for the Macan. Apparently, "macan" is the Malay word for tiger, which explains the connection between a highly touted crossover and a jungle cat.
A Tampa, FL dealership already displayed some three-week-old cubs, with PETA saying tigers for display should be at least eight to 12 weeks old. Even then, the group argues that the animals can suffer due to stress, malnourishment, neglect and a lack of veterinary care. The group brings up legal concerns, as well, arguing that if one of the cubs bit a customer, the dealership could be held liable (we're no big cat experts, but it seems unlikely a three-week-old cub could do that much damage).
Porsche's PR department quickly reacted to PETA's claims, with Vice President of Marketing Andre Oosthuizen, telling the group that Porsche is concerned about the "welfare of any animal, large or small, wild or domesticated." Oosthuizen's statements were reported in an official PETA blog.

Can a Corvette really be compared to a 911 with options costing more than the Chevy?

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

In this latest video from Drive, Chris Harris asks straight away, "Can you still compare a base Corvette to a Porsche Carerra?" That's an particularly interesting question in this film, as the 911 in question is a 400-horsepower Carrera S model that's been fitted with $60,000 in options. Base price of a Corvette Stingray? $51,995. Harris' tester features an automatic and some other goodies that push it right up to that $60,000 range. So yes, the options on the Porsche cost as much as this entire 460-hp Chevrolet.
Harris stresses that this isn't a full review, but he does exercise both cars in a more composed manner before reverting to his traditionally exuberant driving style. The impressions are, as always, spot on, with Harris favoring the pointy nature and V8 power of the Stingray, while enjoying the gearbox (Porsche's exceptional PDK transmission) and just about everything else on the 911.
Take a look below for the latest video from Drive, and let us know if you agree with Mr. Harris' views on these two sports cars.
