You are viewing a gorgeous 1996 Tech@rt wide body look Porsche 911 that was painstakingly converted and thoroughly restored from a clean ‘76 Porsche 911s. Her restoration was completed on 8/11/2013. This 911 can be a bargain as there aren’t many, if any at all “Porsche certified engineers only” tasks remaining for her. They’ve already been done for you! This stunning car can be won for less than half of the book value and $30,000 less than was spent on her restoration.
The video available below, its contents and the virtual test drive was filmed days before this posting. The images capture accurately the car’s current appearance, ease & ability to start run and drive well.
Background:
Even prior to her restoration she easily passed state inspection and is currently registered at a $35,000 insurance replacement value that includes a clean car fax report.VIN: MA11504 registered as a custom Porsche 911S. She’s an adult female owned 911 with only two adult owners prior to her. This three owner, low mileage car was originally designated as a California car, for the first 30 some odd years. The second owner from San Jose CA decided she would make an excellent candidate for a body conversion. Her body work was completed by Better Bodies of San Jose who stretched and mounted correctly the extra low, extra wide, lightweight metal and fiberglass composite 993 body. The undertaking was to honor the look of the Techart 993 using authentic Porsche 996/993 parts when available. Authentic ’96 Porsche 993 Litronic Bi-Xenon headlights, signals, seats and exhausts are just to name a few. The transformation continued in 2009 by installing a custom made interior and speed yellow exterior paint. Adding original 996 turbo seats, custom updated leatherette console compartments, RS doors, new headliner, and carpets, under dashboard fiberglass kit was installed to remove wiring clutter. Pedal, brake, door handle/pins and cluster accents were also applied. The current owner completed the updating and restoration with only dealer test miles put on the car intermittently between tasks. This 911 was lovingly given an exhaustive, time consuming and expensive full mechanical restoration involving most aspects of the car from the bottom up. Most were not imperative but rather done out of adoration for the car and a desire to fully restore her to almost new condition. This 911 will be inexpensive to insure especially if she’s insured as an antique or just as ’76 911S.
Condition:
The car starts first time reliably. She drives and handles as it should. This 911 has been a consistently reliable car. As of today she is not leaking any fluids prior to engine and electric over haul she leaked dime size drops of oil. Before undergoing her most recent work she was used as a daily. Driving to and from RI – MA highway miles. That said, like anything that moves…eventually and without notice…breaks. Although unlikely since most everything on the car has been replaced or restored.
There are numerous paint defects throughout and she would benefit by being repainted. The imperfections are not noticeable from 10-15 feet way but are there just the same. At the time of completion, there was nothing impeding this car from being driven starts right up and hugs turns! There are several owner biased odds and ends which you may wish to repair, replace or repaint. Most notably the rock chips and paint defects and replacing the air/fuel adjustment bolt which is stripped. The cost of this adjustment is between $2-$700. Although this is not noticeable with regard to her ability to start & drive well doing this work will optimize her purr. The work specified has been reflected in the price. Lastly, during her restoration she was not driven regularly and would benefit from having all fluids purged and replenished before distance driving. She should be slowly broken in again since she’s like new and hasn’t been driven beyond intermittent test drives post engine, transmission and EFI conversion. That said, the car is a bargain as a reliable daily driver that’s undergone a meticulous restoration that will keep her new owner on the road with miles of smiles so you can bid with confidence. The car is sold as is and as an unfinished project.

Weekly Recap: Porsche embarks on Mission E
Sat, Dec 5 2015Porsche's board of directors approved the company's first all-electric car Friday, signing off on production of the eye-catching Mission E concept that debuted in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It's set for launch by the end of the decade. The Frankfurt concept uses lithium-ion batteries to power two synchronous motors that create more than 600 horsepower and provide a range of 311 miles on the European cycle. It's capable of hitting 62 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds and can run the Nurburgring Nordschleife in less than eight minutes. In a statement, Porsche board chairman Oliver Blume called the Mission E the "beginning a new chapter in the history of the sports car." Porsche is backing that up with a roughly $1.1-billion investment that will create more than 1,000 jobs at its facilities in Zuffenhausen, Germany. The company will spend more than $760 million at its main site there to build a paint shop and a new assembly plant. It will also expand an engine factory to make electric motors. Porsche's renewed electric ambitions come as it grapples with fallout from parent company Volkswagen's diesel-emissions scandal. Porsche uses a VW diesel engine in the Cayenne SUV, which it stopped selling in November until a fix is found. Still, Mission E's scheduled landing could be as much as four years away – when Porsche and VW hope their diesel woes will be long over. The electric strategy is clearly a long play to provide its enthusiast owners with an efficient form of sport and luxury as fuel economy and emissions regulations tighten around the world. And if you still can't wrap your head around electric Porsches, the company also just announced plans to make the 911 Turbo and Turbo S even more powerful. Electric propulsion is part of Porsche's future, but for now at least, it isn't everything. OTHER NEWS VW sales crash 25 percent in November Finally, the other shoe dropped. Volkswagen sales plummeted 25 percent in November as fallout from the company's diesel-emissions scandal finally showed up on the sales charts. VW had managed to tread water with flat sales through September (the scandal broke more than halfway through the month) and October. The company stopped selling its 2.0-liter I4 and 3.0-liter V6 diesels as it works to make the engines complaint with emissions rules. VW admitted to rigging its diesel-powered cars so they could pass emissions tests in the United States and around the world.
VW internal investigation finds 'no evidence' against suspended engineers
Tue, Oct 6 2015Volkswagen is still working out the chain of events that led to emissions-evading software being installed in 11 million diesel vehicles worldwide and deciding who was responsible for the treachery. So far, the German automotive giant's internal investigation hasn't publicly named many suspects, and three suspended executive-level engineers have been found not to be culpable in the wrongdoing, according to an anonymous insider speaking to Reuters. VW knows that the software began being installed in the EA 189 engine in 2008. The internal investigation has found that the emissions-evading tech was created because the powerplant was found to fail US standards. Plus, the diesel mill wasn't meeting cost targets, according to Reuters. The automaker responded by suspending over 10 employees, but three top engineers among them might not have been involved. Those put on leave include Heinz-Jakob Neusser from VW, Ulrich Hackenberg from Audi, and Wolfgang Hatz who led Porsche's research and group-wide engine development. The internal detective work hasn't turned up any evidence against these three men. In addition to VW's own inquires, government investigators in both the US and Germany are taking a serious look into the company's actions, too. So far, the automaker is setting aside about $7.3 billion to pay to fix the vehicles with the evasive software. Depending on what authorities find, the costs could grow quickly. Beyond the financial implications, the scandal has led to a serious shakeup in VW's corporate structure. Related Video:
Porsche employees take pay cuts so they can build Mission E
Wed, Dec 30 2015Porsche's 13,000 workers in Zuffenhausen, Germany, agreed to work more and at adjusted wages to ensure that the factory can build the production version the Mission E electric performance sedan. Their sacrifices could save the German sports car maker several hundred million euros, according to Reuters. The Zuffenhausen site was possibly in danger of losing the Mission E because workers there receive higher wages than Porsche's other factories. The specific savings from these concessions reportedly include increasing the workweek by one hour to 35 hours and eliminating portions of pay increases between 2016 and 2025. Porsche didn't officially confirm the precise cuts, but a spokesperson told Reuters: "Employer and employees have jointly drawn up measures that have led to the decision of producing the Mission E model at Zuffenhausen." Porsche plans to invest about $768 million into the Zuffenhausen factory over the coming years. That money will help create over 1,000 new jobs and will build a new paint shop, assembly plant, and upgrade the engine factory to produce electric motors. The expansion will also allow the company to move all production of the Cayman and Boxster to Zuffenhausen by August 2016 rather than the current strategy of outsourcing some of the models' assembly to Osnabruck, Germany. The Mission E should enter production by 2020, and Porsche Executive Board Chairman Dr. Oliver Blume promises it to be the "most sophisticated model in this market segment." The concept at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show offered a glimpse at the next-gen technology by presenting a swoopy EV sport sedan with all-wheel drive and a total of 590 horsepower from two electric motors. Porsche claimed the concept could reach 62 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds and go nearly 311 miles on the European testing cycle.
