1975 Porsche 911s this was a company car for a commercial real estate company in CT. I bought it 6 years ago from someone with that company. I believe the engine has been rebuilt but do not have any documentation on this. Car has 115k miles on it . I rebuilt the calipers, pedal assembly, changed the alternator and added an extra cooler(pipe type). With the exception of a small bubble on the hood which hasn't grown in 6 years the car has NO RUST. The seats need to be repaired or reskinned (drivers side mostly) and the oil thermostat should be replaced ( I have the new thermostat), and the front stays for the hood should be replaced. Also some interior map lights need to be fixed as well as the radio. The car does smoke for abit on start up but quickly goes away. The compression is good on the engine and it starts everytime and is very fast. The car handles very well and has good tires on it. Also the windshield washer unit needs to be installed as well as the heater hoses. The heater fan works but is not electrically connected. The car has updates like a carrera 11 blade fan and carrera cam covers. Also some oil system updates. As this was a company car I believe the car was professionally maintained until put in storage. The car is registered and insured currently...so no problem with the test drive. The title is clear but in the prior owners name as Connecticut doesn't require a title on cars over 20 years old. I never processed the title into my name because it wasn't necessary. The new owners name is blank on the title so there should be no problem transferring. Check your state's DMV laws before bidding. Also the car runs well but needs the thermostat replaced for long distance driving. I WILL NOT allow you to use my license plate to pick up the car. $1000 non refundable deposit due within 24 hrs of end of auction. Car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end auction early. DO NOT BID unless you have over 50 transactions on ebay. I reserve the right to delete inappropriate bids. I have more photos and feel free to call or email me with questions. It might be best to email me with questions as I dont check my cell phone often. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING. Call me or email me...DO NOT BID unless you intend to complete the purchase. Porsche sells 919 Hybrid mockup for $100k on eBay
Mon, Jun 29 2015Want to spend $100k on a new Porsche? Your local dealership will gladly sell you a new 911, Panamera, or Cayenne in the right trim level and spec, with all the right boxes ticked. But one buyer in Singapore recently spent that on a Porsche he (or she) couldn't even drive. The non-functional vehicle in question was a full-scale replica of the 919 Hybrid – just like the ones that just took a one-two finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Only this one was based on the 2014 spec that brought Porsche back to the forefront of endurance sportscar racing. Oh, and it has no running gear - electric or conventional. Porsche made a baker's dozen of these replicas to serve as showpieces and development models where a fully functional example wouldn't be needed. They're seldom sold, but Porsche Asia Pacific was given the green light to auction one off. Proceeds went towards charities helping disadvantaged children and the disabled. The fortunate collector ended up paying precisely $106,100 – that's in US dollars, not Singapore's – on eBay for the opportunity to put an all but completely authentic 919 Hybrid in his garage. Said collector won't be able to drive it, of course, but unless he was put through the kind of training that Mark Webber and Nico Hulkenberg have been, we doubt it'd be of much use anyway. And that's assuming Porsche were ever convinced to part with one of its high-tech, all conquering prototypes, which it likely won't for many years to come.
Evo pits BMW M3 against Porsche Macan in drag battle
Sun, 24 Aug 2014If you want to move five passengers in very rapid fashion and you've got a $75,000 budget, two newly introduced four-door models immediately come to mind - both are the highest performing vehicles in their respective segments. But which is faster off the line, to the 60-mile-per-hour benchmark or flat-out over an even longer run? Evo took both to paved aircraft runway to find out.
In lane one we've got the all-new Porsche Macan Turbo, which boasts a twin-turbocharged, 3.6-liter V6 rated at 400 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. The Porsche is fitted with a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox, and the 4,244-pound crossover has the traction advantage of standard all-wheel drive. In lane two is the all-new BMW M3, powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six rated at 425 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. It is also equipped with a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox, but only the rear wheels of the 3,595-pound sedan are driven. Both the BMW and Porsche arrive with launch control, which helps to remove driver error off the line.
Which automaker's launch control system is better off the line? Does all-wheel-drive grip give the crossover the advantage it needs to overcome its adversary's power-to-weight advantage? Will aerodynamics factor into the results? Which would you put in your garage, and why? The video may surprise you.
The Rolls-Royce Phantom leads this month's list of discounts
Wed, Jun 16 2021Every month, we take a look at vehicle sales data in America to pick out the vehicles with the largest monetary discount. Usually, the list is dominated by high-performance two-door luxury sports cars. This month is different. Much to our surprise, the 2020 Rolls-Royce Phantom stands above all others with an average discount of $18,588 off the price quoted on its window sticker. Now, it bears mentioning that an $18,000-plus discount still only represents 3.46% of its $537,500 average retail price, and that the resulting $518,912 cost to drive off the showroom floor still makes the Phantom an extremely expensive range-topping luxury sedan. Still, even very wealthy people won't snicker at that kind of savings. Up next is another unlikely newcomer to the biggest-discount chart: the 2020 Porsche Taycan. The electric super sedan's average sticker price of $152,250 is cut to $135,707 after a discount of $16,453 is lopped off. That represents a savings of nearly 11%. We can't say how many of the Taycan's buyers over the last month will be able to claim tax rebates due to the Taycan's status as an electric vehicle, but that could potentially represent a further cut off the car's sticker. Rounding out the top three is the 2020 Maserati Quattroporte. Buyers of this Italian luxury sedan are saving an average of $13,839 for an average transaction price of $87,646. We normally only share the top three, but this month's list is interesting enough that we'll share some more. In fourth and fifth place are the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class (with an average $13,239 discount) and the 2021 BMW 7 Series (with an average $12,435 discount) followed by the 2020 Rolls-Royce Wraith — interestingly enough also with a savings of 3.46% — and the 2020 Maserati Levante and Ghibli.
