1975 Porsche 911 Carrera Rare And Very Original on 2040-cars
Highland Park, Illinois, United States
This is a beautiful running and driving ’75 US spec Carrera. It is not a concours trailer queen, but instead is a great near-original. Approximately 400 of these cars were made for the US market for the 1975 model year. It appears to have been pampered all its life, with no evidence of accident damage or rust issues. We have ownership and service history back to 1975, as well as the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. Original jack, tools, owners manual, and keys are still with the car. Equipment on this car includes leather sport seats, air conditioning, and factory electric sunroof. The car has just received a major engine out service by Perfect Power (details below), one of the leading independent Porsche shops in the midwest. The photos really don’t do the car justice. It also drives as tight and solid as you’d expect of a well-kept 911. The car can be driven and enjoyed as is, with no need to be cosmetically restored. All factory ID tags are present. The mileage on the odometer is miles over 100,000; but you’d never know it to look at it. As r.o.w. Carrera prices have risen to over $300,000 in some cases, these US cars have also increased in collectability and value. You’d be hard pressed to find a more original, more well-kept example.
OVER 100 DETAILED PHOTOS AT: http://s526.photobucket.com/user/racer3344/library/ BODY: The car has been a California and Colorado car most of its life, with very limited use in Illinois ( approx. 1,500 miles) in the last few years. It shows no evidence of rust repair ever. Floors and trunk are excellent both inside and underneath. There is even a considerable amount of the factory cosmoline on the underside. The panel gaps are tight and flush. The body has had one very nice repaint some time in the past. There are some chips from normal use. Body rubber trim and weatherstrips are also in very good shape. This car gets a lot of attention and compliments. INTERIOR: Everything is original Porsche as far as I can tell. Very good to excellent carpets, door panels, dash, dash top, headliner and original steering wheel. Seat leather is excellent for its age, supple, with good color, and no rips or tears of any significance. ENGINE AND DRIVETRAIN: Engine was rebuilt about 37,000 miles ago. Just completed a fresh engine out service, with reseal of engine and trans. Valves were adjusted at this time. New plug wires, many gaskets and seals replaced as needed. Clutch assembly was replaced, synchros inspected, and transmission case resealed during this service. Receipts are available STEERING AND SUSPENSION: Aligned and corner weighted about 1,500 miles ago. Everything tight and operating as it should. Steering is typically smooth and light with no excess play. The car rides and handles very well. BRAKES: System inspected. Everything is in proper working order. Plenty of pad life left. ELECTRICAL and INSTRUMENTS. A/C blows cold, and has been updated to 134a refrigerant. Charging system working properly. All lights, instruments, sunroof, Blaupunkt cassette radio, windows, horn and fan in proper working order. Even the seat belt buzzer and warning light are working. WHEELS and TIRES: Bridgestone Potenza 195/65 and 215/60 x 15 tires with about 1,500 miles of use. Original Fuchs 15x7 and 15x8’’ wheels show some wear and tear from normal use, and rims appear to have their original dual anodized finish. GENERAL: Remember, this is a 39 year old used car and is being sold as-is, with any existing faults, whether known or unknown. There is no warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied. I have been a licensed dealer in Illinois for over 30 years. The above description is accurate, to the best of my knowledge, but I encourage your inspection BEFORE bidding. There are no other fees assessed, other than those taxes and fees required by the state when registering the vehicle. Illinois requires that I collect sales tax for some states, which will be credited by your state of residence when registering the vehicle. Check my eBay feedback. Porsche considering X6-style Cayenne coupe
Mon, 05 May 2014It was practically unthinkable when Porsche introduced the Cayenne in 2002. An SUV... from Porsche? Purists balked, but customers flocked, and the Cayenne propelled the its holding company into such profitability that it practically took over the entire Volkswagen Group. It's now been twelve years since the original Cayenne arrived as the first production Porsche with more than two doors, and Zuffenhausen has since followed up with the Panamera, the Macan and the second-generation Cayenne. But it isn't about to stop there.
The latest intel coming in from overseas suggests that Porsche is in the advanced stages of designing a slant-back, five-door Cayenne coupe to take on the likes of the BMW X6 and upcoming Mercedes-Benz MLC. Though the business case (however solid BMW may have already demonstrated it to be) is still being considered, if approved it would join the upcoming third-generation Cayenne on the production line in Leipzig as early as 2018 - a year after the new Cayenne itself is expected to arrive.
The Cayenne coupe would share much with the more conventional MkIII Cayenne (and for that matter the next Audi Q7 and VW Touareg as well as the Lamborghini Urus and Bentley Falcon) but differentiate itself with a more stylish (if less practical) roofline and an altogether sportier attitude. Autocar reports that the design calls for tauter sheetmetal and sportier cabin inspired by the 918 Spyder. Pricing would be positioned a good 15-20 percent higher than the regular Cayenne, and the "coupe" version would likely be offered with most, if not all of the engines available in the conventional version - including gasoline, diesel, turbo and possibly even hybrid options ranging all the way up to the 550-horsepower Turbo S.
Porsche releases new images of LMP1 racecar
Mon, 26 Aug 2013Porsche has released another batch of images of its LMP1 competitor preparing for its debut season in 2014. This isn't the first we've seen of the new car, as June saw four images of the new racer undergoing testing. Where those images looked merely like someone taking pics during the test, the 11 new images seen above have all the hallmarks of highly polished PR shots.
That aside, the camo-covered cars still provide another look at what the new LMP1 car will look like when it arrives next season. The taillights follow the example set by Audi, by vertically mounting ultra-thin LEDs on the tips of the rear wing, while the LED headlights sport the four-prong look that Porsche has been pushing of late. Besides those two items, its difficult to make out many details due to the amount of camo.
Porsche's LMP1 effort will be focused on the FIA World Endurance Championship, which will see the revered brand return to the top flights of the 24 Hours Of Le Mans with F1 ace Mark Webber behind the wheel. As we've mentioned before, the German brand has set up a dedicated microsite that will cover its newest racer's progress.
Porsche celebrates Le Mans return with Martini edition 911
Tue, 10 Jun 2014If we've said it once, we've said it a hundred times - but we'll gladly say it again: there are few racing liveries as iconic as Martini. And while those stripes have adorned countless Lancia and Ford rally cars, grand prix racers (like the latest Williams) and even speedboats, they remain inexorably tied to Porsche. Fortunately that point is not lost on Porsche itself, which has lately put them on its own 918 Spyder, race-spec 911 and all manner of merchandise. And this is the latest.
To celebrate its return to Le Mans this year, Porsche Exclusive is offering this special Martini Racing Edition. It's based on the 911 Carrera S, which means the more potent 3.8-liter flat six with 400 horsepower, but upgrades, as you might have guessed, with a whole mess of Martini Racing stripes and logos, along with the Aerokit Cup front and rear spoilers. The badges and stripes abound inside as well, where you'll also find such optional extras as the Porsche Communication Management system, Bose audio and black leather electric sport seats.
Porsche is offering the 911 Carrera S Martini Racing Edition in either white or black, but unfortunately not in our market - just in Europe, China and Latin America. Those who miss out will (in certain markets anyway) be able to order the decal set separately though. Feel free to read more in the press release below.
