Offered for sale is an exceptionally beautiful, rare, numbers-matching and restored 1964 Porsche 356C Coupe with a factory electric sunroof and finished in gorgeous Bali Blue over wonderfully complimentary tan leather seats, oatmeal carpets and black rubber mats. We acquired the car from the third owner, the former President of Rusnak Auto Group, one of Southern California’s largest European marque (including Porsche) franchise dealerships. A true lover of cars apart from his career, he has owned dozens of significant classics, only buying the finest in rare and investment quality cars.

After purchasing the car from the 40+ year second owner’s widow in Jacksonville, FL, the third owner set about performing a high-level, comprehensive three year restoration including, but not limited to: thorough undercarriage rust-repair and installation of new pans, sanding the car to bare metal, applying a very high quality finish in factory original Bali Blue (Paint Code 6412), replacing all rubber, replating all chrome trim, reupholstering the entire interior with correct materials and having the numbers-matching engine blueprinted and completely rebuilt with all mechanicals sorted. Despite the fact that he used his connections to get significant discounts with some of the area’s best tradespeople, by his estimation more than $50,000 was spent in this endeavor and we have a one-inch thick stack of receipts documenting the restoration. The result of all of these efforts is absolutely stunning, an utterly head-turning 356C that would be at home in any weekend enthusiast’s garage or a significant collection.

The car’s Bali Blue finish is exceptional; deep, lustrous, even and free of any noticeable imperfections, it cloaks a straight and correct body that retains consistent panel fits and gaps throughout. All of the rubber is new, all of the original glass is in excellent condition, all of the brightwork is flawless and colored enamel crested hubcaps adorn chrome wheels wrapped in nearly new tires. The car’s interior is equally immaculate, the rich tan leather seats, interior panels, headliner and carpet all to factory specifications and free of imperfections. The crack-free steering wheel has been reconditioned, all of the gauges work and the car comes with its original Blaupunkt radio, original full spare tire, changing tools and a complete 356 tool kit.

As one would expect following a professional rebuild, the original, numbers-matching engine starts effortlessly, idles consistently and pulls strongly and smoothly through each of the original gearbox’s gears. Compression is excellent, the brakes and suspension have all been sorted and the car’s road manners are exceptional, making it a joy to drive, whether tooling through town, winding through the canyons or bombing down the highway. Something worth noting: the previous owner adjusted the torsion bars to give the car a more aggressive look, however we can certainly adjust them back if desired.

This is an excellent and increasingly uncommon opportunity to attain a beautifully restored, all numbers-matching, exceptionally rare factory sunroof 356C finished in a desirable livery and documented by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and an abundance of receipts. With the Porsche market stronger than ever and continuing to indicate consistent appreciation, acquiring rare and well-presented examples has proven to be an excellent investment, making good cars exceptionally difficult to find. These cars just don't come up for sale very often anymore, so if you’re in the market this example certainly deserves your serious consideration.

We want this car to go to great home and would be happy to further discuss it and answer any questions, so please feel free to email us or call us at 805-202-4557. You can also visit us online at GoodmanReed.

Goodman Reed Motorcars

We’ve always had an appreciation for classic European cars and over the years have created an eclectic personal collection. We only buy cars that we’d personally be interested in owning and generally only sell them to make room for other acquisitions. That time has come for this Porsche (if the price is right, of course – this isn’t a fire sale). We try to give accurate descriptions of the cars we’re selling, but we’re enthusiasts, not experts, and we encourage and are happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms our ability to make sales to other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding.

For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction’s end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction’s end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of the auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however we’d be more that happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and we reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction’s end. Thanks for your interest.

2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S

Wed, 04 Sep 2013

A Wicked-Fast Street Legal Multi-Tool
Walter Röhrl was carving up the circuit in the Porsche 911 Turbo S like a skilled Jedi Master - and I was sitting next to him, mesmerized by the breathtaking show. I had strapped myself securely into the front passenger bucket of the all-new coupe less than a minute earlier, expecting nothing more than a few quick laps around a track at the hands of another celebrated race driver. Been there, done that. Many times, actually.
Yet this was different. Röhrl was not only calculated and methodical in his approach, but his rally-tuned cerebrum appeared to be actively reading available grip levels while effortlessly tossing the all-wheel-drive Porsche into each corner at gut-wrenching speeds. His hands were moving rapidly, sending tiny steering corrections to the front tires, and he was using every inch of the track to extract more speed. We launched over a curb, dropped a wheel in the dirt and then drifted around a wide off-camber turn. His human precision and focus was astounding, and the performance he was extracting from the machine was just short of breathtaking.

Infiniti cribs new US boss from Porsche

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

Just weeks before he was supposed to become CEO of Porsche Cars Australia, Infiniti has apparently offered Porsche COO and Executive Vice President Michael Bartsch a deal he couldn't refuse. Thus, Bartsch has join the company as Vice President of Infiniti Americas, the luxury marque's top North American post. Bartsch replaces Ben Poore, who has been with the automaker since 2008, having led both a 22-percent sales surge in 2012 and the brand's current sales slough, Automotive News reports.
Bartsch, Porsche's No. 2 US executive, has held the COO and Executive Vice President positions at Porsche since 2005 and was scheduled to become CEO of Porsche's Oz division on September 1. Infiniti has experienced a number of recent personnel changes in the past week: it named Vincent Gillet, formerly an executive for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, to lead its marketing efforts worldwide and Simon Cox, a former designer for automakers including Ford and Peugeot, to head a new design studio in London.
Poore reportedly will pursue other interests outside of the auto industry. Read more about the personnel change in the press release below.

Juan Pablo Montoya tests Porsche 919 Hybrid in Bahrain

Tue, Nov 24 2015

Sealing the FIA World Endurance Championship wasn't the only thing that Porsche did this past weekend in Bahrain. Alongside its rivals from Audi and Toyota, the German outfit also participated in a test session for potential new drivers, including Juan Pablo Montoya. Driving the Le Mans- and championship-winning Porsche 919 Hybrid at the Bahrain International Circuit this weekend, Montoya set the fastest time of the day. His "qualifying" lap was clocked at 1:40.86, barely more than a second behind the 1:39.67 lap that earned Timo Bernhard pole position in the previous day's race – and a second faster than the fastest lap set in the race by Neel Jani in another 919 Hybrid. That's a mighty impressive feat for a driver relatively unaccustomed to driving a modern hybrid LMP1. Racing fans will know Montoya as a multi-talented driver. The Colombian has competed successfully in Formula One, Indy, NASCAR, and sports prototypes, winning races in all disciplines. Aside from the International Formula 3000 title, three outright victories in the 24 Hours of Daytona, and a handful of NASCAR street-course races, Montoya can count among his many achievements the CART title, two Indianapolis 500 wins, and the checkered flag at the Monaco Grand Prix (along with six other F1 races). Those victories have brought JP among the closest to winning the Triple Crown of motorsports of any driver in racing history, and he's still competing. For those unfamiliar, the Triple Crown is an unofficial measure to gauge the diverse talents of professional racing drivers in three disciplines: Indy, F1, and Le Mans. To win, a driver has to win the Indianapolis 500, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and either the Monaco Grand Prix or the Formula One World Championship. Graham Hill is the only driver in history to have swept all the categories, but others have come close. The list of near-winners includes Tazio Nuvolari, Mike Hawthrown, Phil Hill, AJ Foyt, Bruce McLaren, Jim Clark, Mario Andretti, and Emerson Fittipaldi. The only contenders still active are Montoya and Jacques Villeneuve, who won at Indy in '95, the F1 championship in '97, and came second at Le Mans in 2008. Villenueve could still steal the crown if he gets another shot at Le Mans, but the more likely scenario would be to see Montoya rise to the throne. Especially if this test session is any indication. Also driving the Porsche was in the rookie test session was Mitch Evans, a former GP3 champion and GP2 race winner from New Zealand.
