1958 PORSCHE 356 SPEEDSTER CALIFORNIA CAR-SAME OWNER FOR OVER 33 YEARS! OFFERED FROM A PRIVATE COLLECTION FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OVER THREE DECADES!
In the early 80's, after a considerable amount of searching, the current owner purchased a super original, rust free, un-molested example of the iconic Porsche 356 Speedster. Critical in his search were the following criteria;
Although an extremely nice original example when purchased, the new owner had the desire and wherewithall to enhance the condition of his new aquisition. With the help of some of the best craftsmen in Southern California, he was able to preserve and upgrade his Speedster to the level at which it is presented for sale today.
BODY AND PAINTWORK- The body panels and sheetmetal are original to the car, which has never suffered from rust or rot. Before the car was repainted over 25yrs. ago, it was stripped to bare metal and metal finished so that an absolute minimum of any type of filler was used. It was resprayed in the correct Porsche Ruby Red, the same color it left the factory and for which it is coded. Although the paint is almost 25 years old, it could pass as having been painted within the last five years. As is the case with most high quality respays, there are no signs of checking or dullness in the finish. Within the last 5 years, Coachcraft, of Filmore CA. was retained to freshen-up various areas of the Speedster. Over $25,000. was spent to detail and freshen-up various areas such as engine compartment and undercarriage, pull and reseal the engine, rebuild carburators, rebuild the trans-axle, new shocks, brakes etc. A comprehensive list of work performed can be supplied to interested parties.
INTERIOR AND TOP- In approximately 1989 the interior and top were completely refurbished by Thomas Tops of Hollywood California, well known in Porsche circles for their exacting and authentic interiors and tops. The scope of work performed included rebuilding and covering the Speedster leather bucket seats, new German square-weave carpeting and correct rubber floor mats, new German canvas convertible top and side curtains, new leather dash cover, new leather door panels and a vinyl top tonneau. The cost was over $6,500.00 and the quality speaks for itself. Although 25yrs.old, the interior and top are still in excellent condition and look virtually new. OVERALL CONDITION- Most trim and mouldings are original to the car and are in very nice to excellent condition. The wheels are obviously not correct and are the wider 15" wheels typically installed to enhance handling. The Nardi steering wheel was on the car when purchased, the original steering wheel is not with the car. The Speedster is available for inspection by appointment to serious qualified bidders.

Here are all the EVs with 800V charging available in 2024
Fri, May 31 2024As technology advances, electric cars are improving their fast-charging times. That means less time spent waiting at a DC public charger when you’re out on the road. While Level 3 chargers used to provide a maximum of 150 kilowatts of power, 350-kW chargers are become more common, making for super-fast charging Â… if your car is capable of taking advantage of it. So how do automakers improve the charging speed of their EV batteries? Some are turning to higher voltage, specifically 800V charging. What's the difference between 800-volt charging and 400-volt charging? So how does 800V charging improve upon the more common 400V EVs? Put simply, the higher the voltage, the less amperage (current) it requires to charge. In other words, with more voltage, you get more wattage (power, aka charge rate) from the same amperage (current). 800V architecture is also more efficient, with less electrical resistance, so it can use thinner cables and smaller, lighter components while needing less cooling. The tradeoff is that it is more costly, and guess who that cost gets passed on to. While automakers don't break down their pricing to show how much more you're paying for that 800V system, you'll just have to evaluate any potential purchases as a whole, and make your decision based on overall pricing of the vehicle. Thankfully, the 800V EVs on sale now are generally ones we like. Now, 800V charging capability doesn't necessarily mean an EV has 800V vehicle architecture. For instance, the GMC Hummer EV and Chevy Silverado EV operate at 400V, but with their dual battery packs, can switch to 800V when charging by temporarily connecting those packs in series. Currently, there are only a handful of EVs available with 800V charging. But if you are going to find yourself taking longer trips in your EV and using DC fast chargers more often, you might want to consider choosing one with this faster charging capability. Techart tastefully tunes Porsche 911, Cayenne
Tue, Mar 1 2016German tuning haus Techart is making a big showing at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, introducing modified versions of a number of Porsche products. At the fore, we have the new, all-turbo 911 range. Techart has turned its hand to both the turbocharged 911 and the new 911 Turbo (this will get less confusing, right?) with a range of upgrades covering performance and aesthetics. Techart has boosted the Carrera S from 420 horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque to 460 ponies and 413 lb-ft of torque. The Turbo S gets a bigger boost, going from 580 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque to 640 hp and 649 lb-ft. It's not clear how Techart has made these gains, aside from the company's "Techtronic" engine management. Surprisingly for an aftermarket tuner at Geneva, Techart's exterior treatments are downright tasteful. There are new front and rear clips and a selection of rear wings, helpfully called Rear Wing I and Rear Wing II, while the diffusers and side skirts are also swapped out. We also dig the center-exit exhaust and its four meaty tips. On the opposite end of the equation, Techart is also modding the Cayenne range. The new Magnum Sport treatment can be applied to the base diesel-powered Cayenne and Cayenne S, the gas-powered GTS, and the Turbo with varying degrees of performance, but it's the force-induced Cayenne we're most interested. In its most potent form, the turbocharged V8 can be boosted from 520 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque to 700 hp and 678 lb-ft. At this level of performance, the Cayenne's sprint falls from 4.4 seconds to just 4.1. That ties the stock Cayenne Turbo S, but it's worth noting the Magnum Sport will do 183 miles per hour to the factory model's 176. Like the 911, there's a slew of aesthetic upgrades regardless of which Cayenne your Magnum is based on. The full body kit isn't as tasteful as the 911. The overall look is far more aggressive and dare we say aftermarket, with plenty of carbon-fiber accents, a very low ride and a serious wide-body look. In particular, the new front and rear fascia present a much more imposing appearance. There's also a carbon-fiber hood, because the aftermarket.
