Up for auction is a rare 1957 Porsche 356A Sunroof Coupe.  I purchased the car in the 1990's and was restoring the car. I'm relocating overseas with my job and have decided to part with the car. It really was a barn find and a time capsule! It had been in Florida, and had been up in Connecticut after that where it sat until I found her.  I got the Car home, changed oil, and what was in the tank, put in new points and gas and a new battery and remarkably got the car running again. As you can see from the interior pics the color was originally red with beige interior.

Work Done: Engine was rebuilt, Transmission overhauled, brakes rebuilt, new wheel cylinders, master cylinder etc. brake lines, silicone fluid,  drums skimmed and polished, all new ball joints, transmission mounts etc., steering overhauled but rubber puck not yet replaced. New floor with all panels longitudinals, etc. it was replaced nose to tail using Stoddard parts, door pillars in front and  behind doors replaced see pics ( surface rust) doors re skinned. Tank removed, cleaned, resealed and refitted, new fuel lines etc. door shims are missing, restorer who was working on the car got very sick towards the end of the work he did - I had to get the car back after he passed away. The work he did on the floors was beautiful, he had restored 20 plus 356's, so he knew what he was doing. The car needs body, paint interior and TLC - I got to drive the car before restoration, I was amazed how well it handled and drove for a 1957 vintage vehicle. Any questions contact me, serious bidders only - I am an honest ebayer, I expect you to be also. payment by wire xfer or certified check with 24 hours of auction closing. I reserve the right to finish the auction early as the vehicle is being advertised locally also. Don't let this one get away - it will make a stunning car! I don't have a title,  transaction will be a bill of sale, I can register the car and get a title at buyers expense if necessary.

good luck bidding!

Take a POV hot lap in the Porsche 918 Spyder

Mon, 14 Apr 2014

That title about says it all. This is a hot lap of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX, with Porsche Works Driver Patrick Long at the wheel of a Porsche 918 Spyder. The camera is basically showing us everything that Long sees, making this not just one of the coolest 918 videos we've seen, but also one of the neatest laps of CoTA.
As Long peers through the bends, so will you. You'll see him fight the wheel, and find out just how difficult it is to hustle this hybrid hypercar around a world-class track at speed. It's pretty darn entertaining. There are also a few scattered shots of the 918's exterior just to break up the interior awesomeness, although we aren't exactly complaining about those. Take a look below for the short video from Porsche.

Porsche (finally) unleashes full, official details on 918 Spyder

Mon, 09 Sep 2013

Porsche has finally let released all of the details on the 918 Spyder, the German brand's challenger to the McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari, after months of leading our poor, performance-loving hearts on. The covers were lifted at the Volkswagen Group night, an enormous precursor to the Frankfurt Motor Show, and include a massive, 11,000-word press release that's attached at the bottom of this page.
The 918 Spyder features a mid-mounted, dry-sump-lubricated, 4.6-liter V8 engine that generates 608 horsepower when left to its own devices. Combined with a trio of electric motors, which produce 286 hp, the total system horsepower for the 918 Spyder rests at 887 ponies. That's less than the McLaren P1 (903 hp) and the LaFerrari (949 hp), but the Porsche is also likely to be a bit cheaper, starting at $845,000, while the McLaren will be in the seven-figure range for certain, and it will more than likely be joined by the LaFezza.
The 918 Spyder counters with a 2.8-second jog to 62, a 7.7-second run to 124 and it will hit 186 in 22 seconds.

1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS takes center stage with Petrolicious

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

Today, one of the most exciting track toys available is the Porsche 911 GT3. Its forbearer, though, was an altogether different beast that was every bit as exciting. Yes, we're talking about the old 911 Carrera RS that blessed the early 1970s. With a mere 1,580 cars built, meant specifically to satisfy the FIA's homologation requirements, the RS is one rare pre-Malaise era cars.
Complete with a 2.7-liter flat-six engine, this RS of Mark Haddawy is one of the earlier examples of the breed (later cars received a larger, 3.0-liter engine). Still, it can scamper to 60 miles per hour in a very respectable 5.6 seconds and will happily hit 150 mph in a straight line. Sporting Porsche's iconic duckbill rear spoiler, the equally iconic Fuchs wheels, as well as slew of options, as Haddawy points out, each of the nearly 1,600 RS models is its own unique iteration on the Porsche performance formula.
Take a look below for the latest video from the crew at Petrolicious.
