1964 Pontiac Lemans 326 H.O. This is a factory 4 barrel car, making it an H.O. This is pretty rare. Most people bought a base model or upgraded to a GTO. I have made a few modifications including an automatic overdrive transmission, 15" wheels, front disc brakes & Vintage Air. The body has been off the frame. The frame was sandblasted & painted with chassis black. New bushings in the control arms. New stainless brake & fuel lines. It has new front disc brakes & rebuilt rear drum rear. It also has a new fuel tank. The body was put on a rotisserie. The trunk floor was replaced & lower patch panels on the quarters. The underside of the body was painted with epoxy primer. The paint is very high quality. There are a few chips from being driven, but still very nice. The body has a buck skin color pin stripe. It has all new weather stripping. The trim has been polished & the bumpers have very good chrome. The inside of the car is covered with Hushmat sound deadener. The carpet was replaced, but the seats are still covered in the original seat covers. The seats are in very good shape & are not stiff or cracked. The door panels a original also. The only problem with the interior is the headliner has some wrinkles. The seat belts have been updated with Morris Classic Customs 3 point belts front & rear. This car also has Vintage Air for a nice cool ride. The motor is the original matching numbers engine. It has been rebuilt a one time, but I do not know the details. The only thing not original is the Edelbrock carb. the engine is mated to a 200r4 overdrive transmission. The millage is believed to be original, but I do not have proof.
This is a very nice running & driving car. It cruises down the highway really nice with the overdrive transmission. |

MotorWeek's 80's GM muscle coupe roundup includes Regal GN and Monte Carlo SS
Thu, Jan 29 2015Even with just four brands in the family, General Motors still represents a performance powerhouse. Between the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Camaro Z/28, Cadillac CTS-V and ATS-V, The General can still deliver plenty of thrills. The 1980s, though, saw the brand go even crazier with performance. While the Camaro and Corvette were still around back in the day, GM had a number of other interesting performance offerings. The Bowtie was complemented by the long-deceased Monte Carlo SS, while the now-defunct Pontiac and Oldsmobile offered the Grand Prix and thumping 442, respectively. And Buick, which isn't short on performance with its Regal GS and Verano Turbo, offered a much more serious vehicle, in the form of the Grand National (not to mention the Darth Vader-spec GNX). MotorWeek, in its hugely entertaining retro flashbacks, looks back on these three long-lost GM performance icons, and it's just as good as you might expect. This GTO-El Camino mashup is the muscle truck of our dreams
Fri, Aug 31 2018There were a hell of a lot of great muscle cars in the mid-1960s, from the baroque Dodges and Plymouths of the earlier part of the decade to the wild big boys like the Boss 429 and Olds 442 W30. Right in the middle of the decade, two of the most iconic of the bunch emerged — the Pontiac GTO and second-generation Chevy El Camino. And this one is a 1964 Chevy El Camino with the heart and face of its GTO cousin, and dubbed the El Chieftain GTO. It's currently for sale at RM Sotheby's Auburn auction, with no reserve status or estimate listed. This looks like a product that Pontiac could have sold at the time — its builder, Ron Lindeman, did an excellent job making it look like a factory product, right down to the taillight strakes inspired by the GTO. It's powered by a 389 — a Pontiac motor that was actually found in period GTOs, but sporting a single four-barrel instead of the sexy Tri-Power setup. It is, however, equipped with a Hurst four-speed manual and the grille badge to prove it to bystanders. Even the interior is made up to look like a GTO. We wish there was more of a description of the build in the listing, but if you love it, do us one better and buy the thing and invite us to poke around it. We are very much in love with this muscle-truck mashup. GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes
Mon, 01 Oct 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.
