Professionally Restored Y82 Special Edition * Pontiac 400 * 4 Speed * T-tops on 2040-cars

Year:1977 Mileage:109388
Location:

Williamsport, Pennsylvania, United States

Professionally restored real Y82 Special Edition black and gold 1977 Trans Am, 4 speed manual transmission close ratio, T-Tops, power steering.

I have the PHS documentation which verifies this car is a real Y82 S/E Special Edition Trans Am. The enclosed photo shows the factory options for this car.

The car was stripped to bare metal and professionally restored. Many hours were spent wet sanding and buffing for super high quality paint finish. The car has approximately 2,000 miles since completion.

The car sold new at Donald W Williams Pontiac in York PA. I purchased the car July 2010 from a man in Hanover, Pa.  The car had 106,001 miles at that time. The previous owner purchased the car in 1986 when the car had 91,474 miles. He told me he purchased the car from a high school kid who blew the motor trying to get away from the police.

The original motor is gone.  The car now has a 1970 Pontiac 400 motor with Ram Air 3 heads, Ram Air exhaust manifolds, 2.5 inch dual exhaust, dynomax super turbo mufflers.  I think this engine came out of a 1970 GTO. This motor, Rochester carburetor, and the car's original numbers matching 4 speed transmission were professionally rebuilt last year.   The car was professionally tuned, all the bugs are worked out and the car looks and drives great.  You will have a hard time finding one that looks and runs better than this one.

Car produced 300 HP and 405 lb ft of torque at the rear wheels on a dynojet.

H019 is stamped on the heads which mean Aug, 01, 1969 and 12 stamped which means Ram Air III heads.

9799914 is stamped on the back passenger side of the Pontiac 400 motor.

WT and 630846 are stamped on the front of the motor.

Almost everything is either new or restored on this car.

New wheels and tires as pictured are correct for a 1978 Trans Am with the WS6 option.  These wheels were not available in 1977.  I installed these wheels because I like the way they look better than the stock 1977 wheels.  I have the original wheels with tires mounted.

The mud flaps were installed to protect the paint and are held on with Velcro and can be easily removed.

The clutch pedal is built up, so I do not have to have my seat so far forward and close to the steering wheel.  This can easily be removed in 2 mins as it is held on with tape.

I will want to run the sale thru my local Chevrolet dealer so I can use the sales tax advantage as a trade-in for my new Corvette on order.

Car is being sold As Is with NO warranty.

If you are interested, have any questions, would like to see the car in person, or like to talk by phone, please email me or call me at 570-419-1020.

GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns

Sun, 05 Oct 2014

Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.

How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.
