Up for auction is my 1999 Pontiac TransAm Firehawk.  Its a black convertible with tan leather and a manual 6 speed transmission.  Car has pretty low milage of 74,300.  Not too many Firehawk convertible's out there, pretty rare car.  This car just had $1000 worth of bodywork done to it.  Make no mistake it did NOT need it but i like having my stuff super clean.  Three or four door dings were taken out, along with a rock chip on the hood (hood ended up getting completely re-painted) and some rub marks on the rear fascia were removed.  I'm saying this car has show room paint because it does.... not a single swirl mark on the car.  Completely new repainted hood.  You will have to see the car to believe how good the black paint looks.  It was a california car its whole life and had an easy salt-free life.  Still has a california title as I drove the car back from California last year and has been sitting ever since.  Very clean car, runs and drives great.

Engine:  100% factory; Starts right up; runs like new with only the SLP lid mod on the air intake

SLP options:  Auburn Performance Differential

Exterior:  Paint is flawless; new bodywork just completed, not a single swirl mark on the car... immaculate... seriously...

Wheels/tires:  Tires will need to be replaced within the next 20,00 im guessing; two wheels have small curb marks on them, not noticable

Sound:  Aftermarket sound system with a custom made subwoofer box that doesn't take up trunk space and allows convertible top to close. Two amps: Boss 250watt for the two 6.5" kicker subs; 1600w 4-channel amp for the two JL Audio component speakers(very nice) up front and the two massive audio speakers(slim fit for the convertible mechanism) in the rear

Interior:  Leather is great, clean, visors need replaced as the cardboard inside them and worn

Make sure you watch the youtube video of it.  Ebay won't let you directly paste the link anymore so you will have to get on youtube and search "1999 Pontiac Firehawk Convertible startup / interior / walk around" copy and paste that title... It should be the first link that pops up and my user ID is sgilbertt.  I did a walk-around and a startup of the car worth watching.

That pretty much sums it all up!  The pictures don't do the car justice.  Come see it and test drive it if you like. Email me or call me at

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:

GM recalling another 2.7 million vehicles in five separate campaigns

Thu, 15 May 2014

The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles.
The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles - some of them the same models - but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago.
The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
