THE INTERIOR NEEDS LOTS AND THE MOTOR HAD WATER SEEP IN THROUGH THE COLD AIR INDUCTION AND SEIZE UP THE LEFT BANK OF CYLINDERS.... THE RADIATOR GOT LOST IN TRANSIT. THE FLOOR PANS WOULD NEED TO BE REDONE, I DO HAVE THE ORIGINAL SPOILER BUT FORGOT TO PICTURE IT. THE TOP IS COMPLETE BUT NEEDS TO BE REDONE... I THREW OUT THE FRONT SEATS, THEY WERE SOAKED AND HORRIBLE..... THE GOOD NEWS IS IT IS A DOCUMENTED MATRIX CONVERSION. THE ORIGINAL MOTOR CAN BE REDONE OR JUST SUBSTITUTE IT WITH A 350 AND KEEP NUMBERS MATCHING BLOCK FOR THE FUTURE... THE TRANNY IS STAMPED AS BEING REBUILT BY GM IN APPROX. 2004 BUT IS ORIGINAL AUTOMATIC TRANS. AGAIN,, LOOKS ALOT WORSE THAN IT IS.. THE DASH IS EXCELLENT, COWL HOOD IS ALL INTACT, I DIDNT TRY IT ELECTRICALLY.....FIBERGLASS DECKLID IS NICE.. GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll
Tue, 25 Feb 2014
588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction
Mon, 01 Aug 2011For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.
GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns
Sun, 05 Oct 2014Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.
