Hello There, I have this Gorgeous 1979 Trans Am with the 403 6.6 Litre Engine and Automatic Transmission...It's 98% Restored and the only things it needs is to have the Fan Blower for the AC Checked then charged, the 8-Track Player looked at as it plays fast, but it Does Work...And new seat covers (the last pic is before the New Interior Door Panels were installed...The car was finished in August of 2012, I parked it in the Fall and those are the only things that I didn't have time to address....The List of Things I've done to or installed in the car are as follows, in no particular order:
-New Professional Paint (technically Torch Red in today's Dupont Formula)
-New Decal Package and Correct 6.6 Litre Hood Scoop Decal-(Phoenix Graphix)
-New Body to Spoiler Gaskets then painted separately with rubberized compound (avoids flaking between body and spoiler, and same was done to the front and rear bumpers)
-Driver's Seat Track replaced
-Driver's Side "Female" End Floor Seat Belt Clip-In was replaced with Great Used one and correct GM moniker
-New Dual Exhaust "Pypes" Dual Chrome Splitter Ends
-New Chrome Sun-Visor Brackets (2) (Eckler Firebirds)
-New Carpet
-New Headliner
-New Interior Pre-Assembled Door Panels
-New Interior Door Handle Black and Chrome Cups/Escutcheons
-New Exterior Door Handle Mayan Red Tapes (Performance Years)
-New Interior Remote Mirror Handle Bezel
-New Correct Interior Door Lock/Unlock Pulls (2)

-New Correct Chrome for Gas and Brake Pedals
-All Interior Parts Dyed to Original Color where needed (available through Ames Performance)
-Nice Used Decor Package Fender and Chrome Pieces at Front Winshield (not currently being reproduced, and were extremely hard to find in Great Condition...The Decor Package is an Added Chrome Trim Option that starts at the front of each Side Window, up to the Roof, down to the back of the rear of the Side Windows, and wraps around to the bottom of the windshield...Therefore, a small piece on each Fender and the Curved Piece on the Back of the Edge of the Hood)
-New Dash Pad
-New Chrome Lug Nuts
-Outside Black Sport Mirror-to Body Gaskets (Most are painted with the car)
-Correct Jack Stand comes with the car, along with the Space Saver Tire
-New Correct Black Trunk Felt Material (not Hound's Tooth)
-Original Rear Speaker Covers and Original Radio (check this as most have After-market ones)
-Has Original WS6 Wheels and Period BF GOODRICH Tires in Almost New Condition
-Plus more that I may have forgotten, and I have many receipts available
-We removed the Front Grilles, Sport Mirrors, Hood, Trunk, Doors, and Front Fenders before paint...You can see the Inside of the Trunk Lid is Still the Beautiful Original Paint and check out what a Great Match the New Paint is to the Old Original Paint!..The Trunk Lid still has the Original Stickers/Decals!

As you can see there was a lot of attention to detail, I replaced what I could with New and purchased only a few used items...There was No "through rust" what-so-ever on this car, originally from Tennesee..(There was just a few spots of surface rust on the Right Rear Quarter, Rust in the Trunk was just surface rust also, just sanded and repainted, and one quarter-sized flake off of the sealant at the bottom of the inside of the Driver's Door was sanded and touched up with a bit more sealant)...The interior door panels look pale, but they are the a nice shiny burgundy color like the console, and rear seats...The front seats have the aftermarket covers, and they are also a deeper red with a shine...This car runs great, peels rubber without down-shifting, reaches top speed easily, tires are great, brakes, shocks, and tune-up weren't needed...The prior owner/s obviously loved this car and I believe I'm the 3rd owner...It has low mileage, and I didn't even put 200 miles on it...You won't be disappointed with this car...Remember this is a Used Vehicle...I know quite a lot about these cars, I've owned 3 1978, and 3 1979 Trans Ams, and have had both the 400 4-speeds, and 403 automatics since 1978, so I know what they came with, and what to expect...I would be charging about $1000 more for the car if the Front Seats were redone, the Seat Covers will cost about $270, plus installation of new foam and springs..They have the Correct Zip-Up Backs..
I have the title in hand, insured but never registered it..This was a project from the beginning, so I went through everything it needed, and like I said, there are maybe 3 things that can use attention...The AM/FM radio comes in Fine, I can throw in a couple of period 8-Track Cassettes for you, put in a New Battery (you can pick out the brand you like) only because I forgot to disconnect the cables after storing it last fall, and the A/C Blower needs attention...Oh the CB Radio needs to be connected...Otherwise this is a Super Car, at a Super Price!...Why buy a compact car when you can "Fly" with Your New Firebird Today!
A $500 non-refundable deposit will be due at close of auction(within 48 hours)..This is a As Is/Where Is Sale, with no guarantee implied or warranted...The car is on site if you'd like to come see it and yes you can kick the tires, but only if you're serious please...I will check the car out before it leaves and have described this car as best as I can, so I'm not responsible for anything I may have missed...Also, the buyer will pay for shipping ( I can help you find a shipper), or you can pick it up here in Litchfield, Maine...If you have any questions, Please feel free to ask, I'm on here daily..Thank You..

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.
