For sale is my 07 Pontiac Solstice. LS7 Conversion. LS7 is no longer stock, Thompson Automotive has rebuilt it to their standards, now packs 630 horsepower with a all forged rotating assy and custom grind camshaft. Conversion is seamless. If you were not into cars you would think that this Solstice came as new from the factory with the LS7. Transmission is a Tremec 6 speed, clutch assy is new from a Corvette. Rear differential is a Cadillac CTS-V to handle the extra horsepower. You will not break the drivetrain unless you bolt slicks to it and try to hook it, otherwise it is a tire smoker through all gears.
Very driveable. No surges, lugging, etc. I took my boy (8 years old) to the Frankenmuth auto fest in it, about 2 hrs from my house and he was asleep 5 minutes into the return trip and never woke up. Quiet when the top is down, loud when you want it to be.
I have seen other conversions and heard the complaints about them, ie cruise control doesn't work, a/c doesn't work, factory guages go in and out. THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE THESE PROBLEMS!!!! I have put 5000 miles on it this summer and have done nothing to it but change the oil and put gas in it. It is truly a head turner, sleeper!!
Has been on multiple Hot Rod Power tours and has been on the cover of Pontiac Enthusiast Magazine.
Custom red leather trimmed interior.
SSBC brakes at all four corners.
GM road race solstice suspension all the way around.
Custom stainless headers, custom exhaust all stainless with v-band clamps to boot.
Much more to list, if you drive this car you will buy it. I have a 63 nova that has been rotisserie restored and is mint, but I choose to drive this everytime I go somewhere just because you will never see one of this quality and you are guaranteed to be the hit of wherever you go.
Selling to fund another project, LS7 in a 69 Camaro! You can't beat this new technology.
I drive it everywhere, 20 mpg if you can keep you foot out of it, otherwise you get 10 to 11 mpg. Never lost a race, embarassed many new vette owners.
Feel free to call, 8103050049. Only if you are serious, and no calls stating I work on a boat and my transporter can pickup scams. Cash only.
Car is guaranteed to amaze.

Thanks, Chris.

The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land
Thu, Oct 15 2015Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top. Junkyard Gem: 1968 Pontiac Catalina sedan
Wed, Aug 14 2019During the late 1960s, General Motors ruled the American car landscape, growing so dominant that the federal government considered antitrust action to break up the company. The General offered sporty Corvettes and muscular GTOs and rugged pickups and opulent Fleetwoods, sure, but the fat part of the sales numbers came from the bread-and-butter full-sized sedans and coupes, which boasted superior engineering and modern-looking styling; in 1967 alone, the Chevrolet Division moved 972,600 full-sized cars, and that's not even counting the 155,100 full-sized Chevy station wagons that year. Pontiac, Buick and Oldsmobile sold the same big cars with division-specific engines and bodywork, and they flew off the showroom floors. For 1968, the entry-level full-sized car from Pontiac was the Catalina, and I've found an example of the most affordable version of the most affordable big Pontiac for 1968, discarded in a northeastern Colorado wrecking yard about 50 miles south of Cheyenne, Wyoming. A '68 GM full-sized coupe, convertible, or even a four-door hardtop might be worth the cost and effort of a restoration, but a no-options base-trim-level post sedan with rust and plenty of body filler just won't get many takers these days. Like so many vehicles that sit outside for decades on the High Plains, this one is full of rodent nests. I wouldn't want to work on the interior of this car without a respirator and a lot of work with a shop-vac, because hantavirus is a significant danger in these parts. Alfred Sloan's plan to offer a stepladder of prestige for GM buyers, in which your first new car was a Chevrolet and you moved up through Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Buick until you became sufficiently prosperous for Cadillac ownership, worked brilliantly for decades. In 1968, the Catalina was a notch above its Impala sibling on the Snob-O-Meter, with the sedan starting at $3,004 (about $22,600 in 2019 dollars). In fact, the V8-equipped 1968 Chevrolet Impala sedan listed at $3,033, and the Oldsmobile Delmont 88 went for $3,146, so the lines were beginning to blur between the relative positions of the lower-end GM divisions by this time. The base engine in the 1968 Catalina was a 400-cubic-inch (6.5 liter) V8 rated at 265 horsepower and enough torque to tow an aircraft carrier.
Drive plays Smokey, Bandit with turbo Trans Am
Sun, Jun 28 2015The modern trend for powertrains can be summed up with the simple maxim: cut displacement and add forced induction. Whether you are looking at the just-introduced 2016 Chevrolet Cruze or a BMW M3, this adage holds true. However, Pontiac's attempt at the idea goes all the way back in 1980 with the Firebird Trans Am and its turbocharged 4.9-liter V8. Drive's Mike Musto takes out a 1981 example to explain what makes this largely forgotten muscle car so special, and it certainly isn't performance. While a 4.9-liter V8 might sound like a lot in the modern world, keep in mind that only few years before the second-generation Trans Am was available with up to a staggering 7.5-liters of displacement. Turbocharging of road cars in the early '80s was quite archaic by today's standards, and the Firebird only managed around 200 horsepower with this mill. Without much go, the turbo Trans Am made up for a lack of power with lots of show. As Musto points out, the famous flaming chicken adorns practically every surface you can see on the coupe, and boost lights on the hood illuminate when the turbo is spinning. Musto still finds a lot to like about the turbo Trans Am. He even calls it "Burt Reynolds as an automobile." Find out why the coupe is so special in this entertaining clip.
